In honour of #PrinceDay, we'll leave you with this touching tribute from The Invisible's Dave Okumu, who's shared an original track Oceans of Purple.
Written in the days following the death of his idol and featuring guest vocals from Jamie Woon, it's the first track to be released on his new label Ruby Moon Records.
“Prince saved my life," said Okumu, adding: "He was, and remains, my favourite musician."
Quote Message: Raw and refined, he resides in my spirit as an emblem for free and fearless expression. Even beyond the grave, through his overwhelming contribution to culture, Prince challenges me to go deep into my inspiration and not to be dictated to by external factors. In recent years, through the loss of my mother, I have learned that death can't contain love. As I confront the grief of losing my hero, I rejoice in the fact that I will spend the rest of my years floating in an ocean of purple. from Dake Okumu

As 6 Music has been playing only brand new tunes since 09:00, it was only fitting that Michael Kiwanuka should sing a never-before-heard track in the station's Live Room earlier.
He performed Father's Child, taken from his long-awaited second album Love & Hate, which is released in July. Check out the video below:
Other tunes championed by the station's DJs today have included the likes of NZCA Lines, Bat for Lashes, Three Trapped Tigers and Cate Le Bon - you can check out the playlists online.
Don't forget they're at it til midnight... Craig Charles is currently live until 16:00, and there'll be another live session with Steve Lamacq when he welcomes Spring Kings between 16:00 and 17:00.
While we're still not sure if The Queen prefers to put her iPod on shuffle or listen to her most-cherished albums on vinyl, at least we now know her top 10 tracks.
It's thanks to a new Radio 2 documentary coming later this month, called Our Queen: 90 Musical Years.
With hymns, show tunes and tracks by Gary Barlow and Vera Lynn in the countdown, it's an eclectic playlist.
"The Queen loves the theatre and musicals like Showboat, Oklahoma! and Annie Get Your Gun," her cousin, Lady Elizabeth Anson reveals in the programme.
"These were the tunes that remained in one's head and were very danceable to."
She added: "The Queen is a fantastic dancer. She's got great rhythm."
London-based singer Rationale came to attention after receiving a stamp of approval from Pharrell Williams, who has been championing him on his Beats 1 radio show, exclaiming: "This person has discovered beauty in their voice."
Those vocals - throaty, reverberant, spectacular - have also caught the attention of Justin Timberlake, Elton John and Radio 1's Annie Mac who made his Marvin Gaye-inspired single Something For Nothing her hottest record in January.
Born in Zimbabwe, he was raised on his mother's eclectic record collection - absorbing everything from Fela Kuti to Meat Loaf - before moving to London and soaking up the city's indie, dance and rock scenes.
Now the singer, whose real name is Tinashé Fazakerley, has announced his debut album. Simply called Rationale, it'll be out in September via Warner Bros.
To celebrate the record's completion, the singer has released a new song, called Palms, which you can hear below.
In a vote of confidence, the song has already been added to 6 Music's A-list. The band are offering it for free on their Soundcloud page, but the dedicated can make a donation via their official website.
BET to honour Prince at awards show
Getty ImagesCopyright: Getty Images
Some of Prince's biggest fans and friends will pay tribute to the star at this year's BET Awards on 26 June.
Sheila E, who toured with him throughout the 80s, will be joined by The Roots, D'Angelo and Janelle Monae, who collaborated with Prince on her recent The Electric Lady album.
Monae has previously called Prince her "mentor", telling an audience in New Orleans: "He was free. He was fearless. He was music. He was rock and roll. He was on beat... I am because he was."
The tribute comes a month after BET mocked Madonna's performance of Purple Rain at the Billboard Music Awards, tweeting a picture of Prince captioned: “Yeah, we saw that. Don’t worry. We got you.”
The tweet has since been deleted.
Listen to Black Grape's Euro 2016 song
BBCCopyright: BBC
We mentioned it yesterday... now it's here. We Are England is the unofficial England anthem for Euro 2016, recorded by "Four Lions" - aka Black Grape's Shaun Ryder and Kermit, together with Paul Oakenfold and Goldie.
Fans of Black Grape will find the loping piano line and Ryder's laconic drawl extremely familiar. But we do wonder whether they might have spent a bit longer on the lyrics.
"We're all in this together, with our English famous weather."
Are you wondering what Ryder wants the song to achieve? Luckily, he put his thoughts down in a press release.
"Hopefully our song will send out a positive vibe to the England fans and put a smile on their faces. We made this record for the real heroes of our country, the working men and women of England."
So now you know.
Four Tet voices his frustrations at SoundCloud
BBC Newsbeat
BBCCopyright: BBC
Producer and go-to remixer Four Tet has hit out at SoundCloud, suggesting "all the joy [is] getting sucked out" of the music sharing site.
It's after he planned to upload new music to celebrate reaching one million followers - only to be greeted with a copyright infringement notice.
Several hours later he revealed the streaming service had approved the track and posted it, but in a string of tweets, the musician accused the site of "adding content to my page against my wishes" so they can make money when fans visit his page.
American female rock duo Deap Vally debuted their new track Smile More on Radio 1 last night, where it was Annie Mac's first Hottest Record of the week.
Annie held a three way conference call with Lindsey and Julie to chat about the inspiration behind the track, one of their favourites from the forthcoming album Femijism, which is due on 16 September.
"It was just everyone bossing us around. Just venting, you know, just getting that out. It's great and people can really relate to that song, and hopefully guys can relate to it too, you know. I think that's like a universally annoying thing just being told what to do by everyone."
Produced by Nick Zinner from The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, they promised the album would be a "creative explosion" full of a lot of "different flavours" from psych rock to soul and blues.
You can listen to the track and the interview below, or catch up on the whole show.
Aphex Twin teases new album
Highly-skilled in the art of the album tease, Aphex Twin has released 80s-style posters suggesting the release of new LP Cheetah - the follow up to last year's Mercury Prize-nominated Syro - is imminent.
The posters - printed on actual paper - read: “The Aphex Twin Cheetah EP uses digital sound generation techniques combined with wave sequencing technology to bring you sounds with movement and depth rarely found on records today.”
It also warns users to read the instructional manual and to mail remixes to his label Warp's offices.
Yo-Yo Ma's, the world's best known cellist, has been talking the BBC about his mission to bring about peaceful change through music.
For years he's been bringing together artists from around the world to play in the Silk Road Ensemble - creating an international dialogue with instruments. Their journeys are now being told in a new documentary called The Music of Strangers.
Jane O'Brien caught up with Yo-Yo Ma and some ensemble members in Washington DC, for a special performance:
Mel B left 'speechless' by Adele's Spice Girl moment
As you may have seen, Adele broke into an impromptu rendition of Spice Up Your Life during her concert in Amsterdam last Friday.
She got the official Spice seal of approval when Geri Halliwell and Mel C shared the video. Now Mel B has been talking about the clip, while promoting the upcoming series of America's Got Talent.
"I'm very kind of flattered," she said. "I think all of us are. It's great.
"It leaves me speechless a little bit."
With rumours circulating that Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham has declined to take part in the band's 20th anniversary reunion, maybe Adele could be persuaded to stand in?
The only question is what her nickname would be, given that Ginger Spice is already taken.
Young Spice? New Spice? Saviour of the Music Industry Spice?
Axl Rose wants 'Fat Axl' pictures to disappear
Oh dear. It seems Axl Rose isn't very happy about the "Fat Axl" meme.
He has issued Google with a takedown notice, demanding it remove all instances of the photo upon which the meme is based.
The photograph, taken by Boris Minkevich at the Winnipeg Free Press, depicts Rose performing in Winnipeg, Canada, hunched over, wearing a red bandana and looking almost exactly like Keith Lemon.
Uncharitable internet users (are there any other sort?) have added captions like "Sweet pies of mine" and "knock, knock, knocking on McDonald's door" to the picture.
According to the takedown notice, the original photo remains the property of Rose, who has not given permission for it to be used in this - or any other - context.
It claims that Minkevich was required to sign a release form upon entering the concert in 2010, limiting his ability to exploit the picture.
Minkevich says he doesn’t remember whether he did or did not sign such a form. "Either way," he adds, "the photo was stolen off our website with no permission granted by the Winnipeg Free Press."
At the time of writing, Google has not complied with the demands.
Polish pensioners send Fabric DJ a thank you letter
BBCCopyright: BBC
You may remember hearing about the Polish pensioners who travelled to London for a night at the Fabric nightclub.
Well now resident DJ Jacob Husley has posted the elderly couple's thank you letter on Facebook.
In it they tell him their experience at the WetYourself! party was "a dream," adding, “there are no such words to describe the atmosphere and the great fun”.
The pair, who took the tube to Fabric, were approached by the DJ - who later paid for their 5am taxi home - as he thought they were lost.
“When he saw our online tickets, it was clear that we were there for the party," reads their letter.
They also assure doubters the evening was not a PR stunt cooked up with the club, before describing the “wonderful time" they had "dancing with young Londoners who also welcomed us very warmly”.
Australian singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett scored Grammy and Brit award nominations for her witty, catchy debut album Sometimes I Sit and Think and Sometimes I Just Sit earlier this year.
It was a situation the unassuming singer called "pretty far-fetched" - especially as the Grammys have rarely paid attention to indie rock in the past.
Although she went home empty-handed, Barnett has seen her profile rise as a result. Ellen DeGeneres even called her one of her favourite new artists in March.
The Melbourne-based musician is currently gearing up for a summer of festivals, but she recently popped into Canada's CBC Radio 2 to play an acoustic session.
After two of her own songs, the star covered The Lemonheads' Paid To Smile, which she has previously described as "the perfect pop song".
Watch the session below. Paid To Smile starts at 5:55.

It seems Rita Ora has signed a new record deal after settling her contract dispute with Jay Z's label Roc Nation.
She and Roc Nation had been at loggerheads since December 2015 over the delay to her second album.
Ora claimed that the five-album deal she signed with Roc Nation in 2008 violated a California law stating a contract can’t be enforced for longer than seven years without being renewed to both parties’ satisfaction.Roc Nation then initiated a counter lawsuit against Ora, stating she had failed to complete a follow-up to her 2012 debut album. The singer - who is currently filming bonkbuster sequel Fifty Shades Darker - recently posted a message on Snapchat hinting she'd signed a new contract.
Meanwhile Coldplay's new album A Head Full of Dreams is back up at three after the band kicked off their UK tour in Manchester at the weekend.
And worldwide Drake domination continues - he's at two in the album charts and One Dance is leading this week's UK singles chart, where it is set to make number one for a ninth week.
In the US, Drake is still topping the US album chart with Views, largely based on streams.
Carpool karaoke gets an attack of the jazz hands
CBSCopyright: CBS
James Corden's Carpool Karaoke has so far featured pop A-listers like Adele, Justin Bieber and Gwen Stefani.
But it took a (melo)dramatic turn for a trip to Broadway, featuring Hamilton's Lin-Manuel Miranda, Shuffle Along'sAudra McDonald, Fully Committed's Jesse Tyler Ferguson and She Loves Me's Jane Krakowski.
Together they performed songs from Hamilton, Rent and Les Miserables.
But here's something we don't understand... How on earth did Corden drive through downtown New York without getting stuck in a traffic jam?
Beyonce and David Bowie honoured at fashion awards

Beyonce's fashion credentials have been honoured with the Fashion Icon Award at the CFDA Awards in New York.
Presenting her award designer Diane von Furstenberg said the singer represented everything women aspire to be, adding: "The image of a woman in charge has never looked more glamorous."
Beyonce sported her favourite look of late: A large black hat, together with a glittery pinstripe suit. She said her love for fashion started early and was in her blood, as her grandmother had been a seamstress and passed her skills on to her mother:
Quote Message: As long as I can remember, fashion has always been a part of my life... When we were starting out in Destiny's Child, high-end labels, they didn't really want to dress four black, country curvy girls. And we couldn't afford designer dresses and couture. My mother... used her talent and her creativity to give her children their dreams, putting so much passion and love into every detail. [It felt] like an extra suit of armour. It was so much deeper than any brand name.

She added: "This is a good thing: You have brought out the freak in everyone."
Actor Michael C Hall, the star of Bowie's musical Lazurus, performed his song Changes, while Prince also recieved a musical tribute from Jennifer Hudson who performed Let's Go Crazy.

LA rap group Jurassic 5 are back with their first new music in 10 years - and they sound as fresh as ever.

You can head over to Soundcloud for a listen, but be warned there is some x-rated language.

Violinist Tasmin Little was one of the guests on Radio 3's In Tune last night, giving not one but two musical premieres.
Among them was a new piece by James Francis Brown, The Hart's Grace, which she will perform at the Hertfordshire Music Festival in August.
But first came The Gardens at Eastwell - the last piece ever written by William Lloyd Webber.
The song was only recently unearthed by the composer's son, Julian, who found it while "clearing out an old drawer".
Listen to Tasmin chatting to Sean Rafferty, as well as a clip of the song, above.
