    It may be 2015, but the current political crisis at Stormont has the feel of a 1990s time warp about it.

    IRA activity, guns and government and unmasking the true identity of supposed anti-drugs vigilantes - we have seen it all before, except this time it's the UUP putting pressure on the DUP. Here's my thoughts on the current impasse.

  4. DUP leave Downing Street meeting

    First Minister Peter Robinson says that he has asked the prime minister to consider suspending the assembly if parties cannot agree to an adjournment to allow talks over the political crisis at Stormont.

    He was speaking after the DUP met David Cameron at Downing Street. "I think there was a recognition on their part that we had done the right thing in trying to adjourn the assembly to allow the talks to take place," says Mr Robinson.

    The manager of Junction One retail park has welcomed the news that it has been put up for sale.

    "We believe that the time is right for new owners to build on the success already achieved and to input additional investment to enable the complex to reach its full potential," says Leona Barr.

    Peter Robinson and the DUP have arrived at Downing Street for talks with the prime minister over the political crisis at Stormont.

    He says that he believes there needs to be a new body to "properly monitor and assess the state of paramilitary organisations". He also said that the UUP's opposition to his motion to suspend the assembly is "incomprehensible".

    Martin McGuinness says his party will work collectively to solve the political crisis at Stormont, and that "we need to work together because if we don't work together, all is lost".

    He criticised the UUP's withdrawal from the executive and said Mike Nesbitt's party was "playing fast and loose with the peace process". He said the UUP action was "all about the election" and said there had been a "massive failure of leadership".

  12. Lottery winner's driving ban reduced

    A former Euromillions lottery winner has had a driving ban reduced from five years to over two years after winning an appeal.

    Ryan Magee, 34, from Monnabouy Road, Eglinton, received a five-year driving ban in June after he pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and without insurance.

  14. Cyclist injured in collision

    A cyclist has been taken to hospital after a collision with bus in Belfast city centre.

    Police said the incident happened at the junction of Victoria Street and Queen's Square at about 14:20. BBC News NI's Michael Cairns captured the moments the injured cyclist was being treated by paramedics.

  15. Nothing found in Galliagh searches

    Police say that nothing untoward has been found after reports that a device was thrown at a patrol in the Galliagh area on Friday night.

    Officers carried out searches in Leafair Park and the Racecourse Road area yesterday and today.

  16. Air rage court

    A man from the United States accused of an air-rage incident involving a row over nuts and crackers will stand trial.

    Jeremiah Mathias Thede, 42, from Berkeley, California, appeared at Antrim Magistrates Court earlier. He's charged with endangering the safety of the aircraft and common assault. He'll appear at Crown Court on 14 October.

    Irish Foreign Minister Charlie Flanagan says there's a need for round-table engagement between the political parties and the two governments to refocus and recommit to the political institutions of the Good Friday Agreement.

    He met Secretary of State Theresa Villiers along with Irish Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald earlier. He says there is no merit in letting Stormont collapse, as the crisis around the institutions deepens.

    Londonderry footballer Darron Gibson has been given a 12-month community order and banned from driving for 20 months after pleading guilty to hitting three cyclists while drink-driving.

    The Republic of Ireland international, 27, was over the legal limit when his sports car mounted the pavement and struck the men. He then sped off before pulling into a filling station where he hit a petrol pump.

    Ulster Unionist leader Mike Nesbitt says the UUP will not support the DUP's move to adjourn the assembly for four weeks - he says that his party are going into opposition and "the other parties need to get on with governing".

    He also says the party would need to know the terms of conditions of any talks before entering negotiations. He was speaking as UUP minister Danny Kennedy signed his resignation letter from the executive.

  29. Elderly man assaulted

    A man in his 90s was assaulted and had his car stolen in a burglary in Lisburn last night.

    Police said a man entered the house in the Ballymacash Road area and demanded car keys from the elderly man. The assailant made off in the car, which was later found on fire after hitting a wall in the Distillery Street area of west Belfast.

    Taoiseach Enda Kenny says he's been encouraged by First Minister Peter Robinson's stance on trying to resolve the crisis at Stormont.

    A man in his 60s has been taken to hospital after masked men assaulted him in his home in Ballymena during a burglary.

  43. Gibson admits crash charges

    Republic of Ireland footballer Darron Gibson has pleaded guilty to crashing his sports car into a cyclist while drink driving and then fleeing the scene.

    The Everton player, from Londonderry, hit three cyclists who stopped on the side of the road to fix a broken chain. One cyclist received cuts to his legs and arms, and his bike was written off.

  44. 'Legend' Hurricane Fly retired

    The claims have been made by former residents at Lisnevin Training School in County Down, which closed 12 years ago. The inquiry is hearing evidence of abuse at young offenders centres in Northern Ireland.

  46. On-the-run offender caught in Dublin

    Irish police have arrested a 19-year-old convicted sex offender on the run from the UK.

    Mian Mujahid Ali Shahid, who is originally from Pakistan, had been living in Scotland until he was found guilty of sex offences in April. He was arrested at Dublin Airport last night as he boarded a flight to Dubai.

    The prosecution of an Irish nanny accused of murdering a baby girl in the US has been branded a disgrace, after the charge was dropped.

    A disabled man in his 70s is in a critical condition in hospital after being beaten at his home in Bessbrook by a gang of men.

    Police said three men broke into a house and went into the bedroom where the elderly man was in bed. Sinn Féin councillor Roisin Mulgrew said: "The most important thing here is that the people who perpetrated this crime are caught."
