It's the first day of meteorological autumn and it certainly felt it with some cool temperatures today - overnight it'll be chilly too, but the full forecast shows a bright start with some showers.
It may be 2015, but the current political crisis at Stormont has the feel of a 1990s time warp about it.

First Minister Peter Robinson says that he has asked the prime minister to consider suspending the assembly if parties cannot agree to an adjournment to allow talks over the political crisis at Stormont.

He was speaking after the DUP met David Cameron at Downing Street. "I think there was a recognition on their part that we had done the right thing in trying to adjourn the assembly to allow the talks to take place," says Mr Robinson.
'Time is right' for sale

Ulster Unionist leader Mike Nesbitt says the UUP will not support the DUP's move to adjourn the assembly for four weeks - he says that his party are going into opposition and "the other parties need to get on with governing".

Elderly man assaulted
A man in his 90s was assaulted and had his car stolen in a burglary in Lisburn last night.
Police said a man entered the house in the Ballymacash Road area and demanded car keys from the elderly man. The assailant made off in the car, which was later found on fire after hitting a wall in the Distillery Street area of west Belfast.

Aisling Brady McCarthy spent two years in jail charged with killing Rehma Sabir. The case was dropped after a state medical examiner reversed a finding that the baby's death was murder caused by shaken baby syndrome.
He tells Good Morning Ulster: "It was a difficult vaccine to develop, but it's now much less likely that babies will get Meningitis B than in the past."

Man injured after burglary

A man in his 60s has been taken to hospital after masked men assaulted him in his home in Ballymena during a burglary.
The men stole four guns that were held legally and a sum of money.
Gibson admits crash charges
Republic of Ireland footballer Darron Gibson has pleaded guilty to crashing his sports car into a cyclist while drink driving and then fleeing the scene.
The Everton player, from Londonderry, hit three cyclists who stopped on the side of the road to fix a broken chain. One cyclist received cuts to his legs and arms, and his bike was written off.
'Legend' Hurricane Fly retired

Two-time Champion Hurdle winner and son of late Irish Derby winner Montjeu, Hurricane Fly, has been retired.
"He's a legend of a horse," said Irish trainer Willie Mullins, who took on Hurricane Fly in 2008, adding: "This day was always going to come and it's great that we're doing it on our terms, rather than due to an injury or something like that."
HIA hears of 'sectarian abuse' claims

The Historical Institutional Abuse Inquiry has been told that staff at a state-run training school subjected some children and teenagers to sectarian abuse.
The claims have been made by former residents at Lisnevin Training School in County Down, which closed 12 years ago. The inquiry is hearing evidence of abuse at young offenders centres in Northern Ireland.
On-the-run offender caught in Dublin
Irish police have arrested a 19-year-old convicted sex offender on the run from the UK.
Mian Mujahid Ali Shahid, who is originally from Pakistan, had been living in Scotland until he was found guilty of sex offences in April. He was arrested at Dublin Airport last night as he boarded a flight to Dubai.

A 35-year-old man has been charged with aggravated burglary and two counts of attempted murder after two women were stabbed in west Belfast yesterday morning.
He's due to appear at Craigavon Magistrates' Court later.

School doors across the country are open again today as the new term begins. St Ronan's College - a new co-educational Catholic voluntary grammar school amalgamating three schools in the area - has opened for the first time in Lurgan.
Principal Michelle Corkey told Good Morning Ulster: "We've had great community response reflected in our numbers, with almost a 20% increase in enrolment - that shows how the community has confidence in this school."

Ulster Unionist leader Mike Nesbitt says the DUP's meeting with the prime minister today over the crisis at Stormont is a "spectacle".
"Now we have the spectacle of Peter Robinson travelling to London to ask David Cameron to save the first minister's skin by bringing in emergency legislation to return powers to the secretary of state to suspend the assembly," he said.

Nanny murder charges dropped
The prosecution of an Irish nanny accused of murdering a baby girl in the US has been branded a disgrace, after the charge was dropped.
Aisling Brady McCarthy spent two years in jail charged with killing Rehma Sabir. The case was dropped after a state medical examiner reversed a finding that the baby's death was murder caused by shaken baby syndrome.
'Big breakthrough'

Dr Richard Smithson from the Public Health Agency says the roll-out of the Meningitis B vaccine for all newborn babies in the UK from today is a "big breakthrough".
He tells Good Morning Ulster: "It was a difficult vaccine to develop, but it's now much less likely that babies will get Meningitis B than in the past."

Attack leaves disabled man critical
A disabled man in his 70s is in a critical condition in hospital after being beaten at his home in Bessbrook by a gang of men.
Police said three men broke into a house and went into the bedroom where the elderly man was in bed. Sinn Féin councillor Roisin Mulgrew said: "The most important thing here is that the people who perpetrated this crime are caught."
