This Renaissance masterpiece has gone on display at the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge today following a 10-year restoration.  

It takes "waiting for paint to dry" to a whole new level.

The Adoration of the Shepherds by 16th Century Italian artist Sebastiano del Piombo was almost completely destroyed in the 1700s. Rupert Featherstone, director of the Hamilton Kerr Institute, which carried out the conservation work, described it as a "major challenge". 

Any remaining showers will ease, leaving most parts clear and dry overnight. Minimum temperature: 10C (50F).

A man killed in a crash at Mepal this morning has been named by police as Richard Duxbury, of Tree Way, Chatteris.

The 35-year-old motorcyclist was involved in a collision with a van on the A142 at about 07.20.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact the road policing unit on 101.

Two men have pleaded not guilty to killing a pizza delivery man in Peterborough.

Ali Qasemi, 45, (pictured) was attacked in Shrewsbury Avenue, Peterborough, in the early hours of 8 May. He died in hospital two days later.

Mark Lintott, 29, of no fixed address, and Joel Lawson, 25, of Goodhale Road, Norwich, denied manslaughter and robbery.

They appeared at Peterborough Crown Court today, and are due to return to the court for trial on 17 October.

Figures released under the Freedom of Information Act show there have been 11 claims for compensation to the Ministry of Defence since 2012, resulting in payouts of £5,246.

Police have revealed that person killed in a crash on the A142 at Mepal this morning is a man in his 30s from Chatteris.

He was riding a motorcycle when it was involved in a collision with a Volkswagen Transporter van at about 07:20.

The driver of the van, a man in his 40s from Ely, was unhurt.

The road remains closed between Chatteris and Sutton.

The Foreign Office has answered criticism from the girlfriend and father of missing climber Aiden Webb, that not enough was being done to find him.

In a statement, it said: "Our staff in London and Vietnam have been providing advice and assistance to the family of Aiden Webb since he was reported missing in Vietnam on 4 June.

"We remain in contact with local authorities, and continue to offer support to Mr Webb’s family during this distressing time."

Trever Webb, father of missing traveller Aiden Webb, 22, says he won't leave Vietnam until his son has been found.

Aiden, an Anglia Ruskin University graduate who grew up in Norwich, has been missing for six days since he slipped and fell down a ravine. 

"The longer it takes to find Aiden, my hopes are fading of my son being alive and that is so hard – we’re so close; he’s so special. We just need help," he said.

The father of a former Cambridge student missing in mountainous jungle in Vietnam says time is running out to find him alive.

Trever Webb says a proper mountain rescue team is needed to search the deep ravines near to where his son Aiden fell.

Mr Webb, who has travelled to Vietnam to take part in the search, says it has taken until today to get the British Embassy to visit the area and he's desperately worried. 

Aiden's girlfriend Bluebell Baughan was in contact with him after he fell until his mobile signal died. She says the local police have done what they can but they "need some serious back-up here as it's been a long time" since Aiden has gone missing. 

British Embassy staff are not expected to arrive at the location until later today.

It's six days since the 22-year-old backpacker went missing in after setting off alone to climb Fansipan mountain. He fell, injuring himself, and his mobile phone ran out of battery on Saturday. 

His father Trever Webb says a trained mountain rescue team is needed to look for him.

The family have been given permission to use drones to help find him, but they are having to wait a few more hours before they arrive.

Estate agents have told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire that the number of houses on the market in the county is at an "all-time low" - and they are blaming the EU referendum.

Kevin Burt-Gray from Pocock and Shaw Estate Agents in Cambridge believes George Osborne's claim that leaving the European Union could lead to the value of property falling by 18%, means people are waiting to see what happens.

"There's absolutely no doubt we are seeing a slowdown as the referendum approaches... the majority of informed buyers and sellers are sitting on their hands," he said.

Campaigners for Vote Leave have said lower house prices would help first-time buyers.

Police say details about the fatal accident on the A142 at Mepal are currently "sketchy".  

Emergency services were called to the seen of a crash involving a van and a motorcycle at 07:25.

The road is likely to remain closed between for several hours. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
