BRAC
BRAC is one of the biggest non-governmental organisations in the world. True to our roots in Bangladesh we remain a south-south enterprise, now working in twelve countries in Asia and Africa to create opportunities for people to get out of poverty.
Chobi
Before BRAC, Chobi lived in a house without a door or windows and struggled daily to survive. Now she has her own business, lives in a warm home and provides for her children’s education. Meet Chobi.
A proven approach
The first Sustainable Development Goal to end extreme poverty by 2030 is ambitious, but we can make it a reality.
Research from the London School of Economics shows that families we work with leave a rigorously-defined category of ‘ultra-poor’ and increase their incomes by 37 per cent. Their success is sustained over seven years, long after they stop receiving direct support.

New horizons
We are now working with ultra-poor women in South Sudan and Uganda to help them build a stable future. A BRAC team collaborates with partners and governments to help scale up this approach in other countries.
