    Andrew Barton

    BBC Local Live

That's the end of our live service for today.

I'll leave you today with images of a stage being built inside York Minster for the York Mystery Plays, BBC Weather Watcher Namboozle's stunning pic of Knaresborough, two intrepid Harrogate nurses preparing to cycle across America raising money for charity and Yorkshire schoolchildren speaking to International Space Station astronaut Tim Peake.

  2. Watch: Scaffolding's up at York Minster, but this time inside... Why? It's a Mystery!

    Adam Tomlinson

Presenter, BBC Radio York Afternoon Show

Work is well under way to transform the inside of York Minster into a stage for the York Mystery Plays which start on 26 May.

The 800-year-old gothic cathedral will host a month-long staging of the plays which have been performed in York since the Middle Ages and which present a biblical history of the world.

Max Jones, designer for the Mystery Plays, has given me a sneak preview of the noisy preparations:

  10. Tour de Yorkshire: Sutton-under-Whitestonecliffe in for a penny (farthing)

    Andrew Barton

    BBC Local Live

A competition to name the rider on top of a Tour de Yorkshire Penny Farthing, created in the village of Sutton-under-Whitestoneclife, has raised £1,008 for the RNLI.

And it's been decided the wonderful creation will stay in place for another two weeks to give those who haven't seen it a bit longer to make the journey - cycling to see it is not compulsory.

And the winning name chosen for the colourful Penny Farthing jockey? Alfred!

  11. Traffic and travel: Accidents spark road delays in Fewston and Leavening

Dennis and Tracey Hill are going to ride 4,000 miles coast-to-coast across America raising money for the charity Medicin Sans Frontieres (UK).

I've been speaking to the intrepid couple this morning and they've told me they're doing the 10-week challenge because they've "looked in to the eyes of people who have absolutely nothing and they deserve a chance of life".

  15. Pole to Pole: Good news for Ryedale's Maypole dancers

    Joanita Musisi

    Reporter, BBC Radio York

Remember earlier this week I went in search of a Maypole to dance around?

One like this would've been nice.

    Maypole

I arrived at the Ryedale Folk Museum expecting to join them skipping gaily around their Maypole, but disaster had struck.

Their usual Maypole had been condemned by Health and Safety and had been replaced, temporarily, by this stunted specimen.

    Maypole at Ryedale Folk Museum

An appeal was instantly launched asking if anyone could help the Ryedale Folk Museum find a more impressive pole to dance around and a hero Maypole provider has come to the rescue.

Andrew Newton in Thirsk has offered not one Maypole, but six to choose from.

    telegraph poles

The museum say they now plan to pick a pole from the pile and take it from Thirsk to Hutton-Le-Hole, get the pole painted up and hold a raising of the maypole event.

When they do, I'll let you know...

  19. Harrogate couple prepare for their very own Tour...de USA!

    Andrew Barton

    BBC Local Live

As you may have noticed, there's been a bit of a cycling theme over the last couple of weeks in North Yorkshire - and perhaps that's inspired you to take to two wheels more often.

Now, one North Yorkshire couple, Harrogate's Andy Dennis and Tracey Hill, have challenged themselves to one heck of a bike ride.

They're going to ride coast-to-coast across America (about 4,001 miles from San Francisco to New York) on a self-funded bike ride, raising cash along the way for Medicins Sans Frontieres (UK), which Tracey says is a charity helping facing "conflict, epidemic and natural disasters".

Have a look below at the gruelling route they plan to take, and later you'll be able to hear an interview with Andy and Tracey about their challenge.
