Conservative association explains 'entirely honest mistake' over donation
It says the donation was from a UK resident and taxpayer who was, at the time of their donation, moving house, and having removed themselves from the register of their old address, had not yet added their new one.
The statement concludes: "Whilst it was a technical breach of Electoral Commission rules for the donation to have been made and accepted during this period, it was an entirely honest mistake."
Conservative association fined over donation
Vikki Irwin
BBC Radio Suffolk political reporter
Ipswich Conservative Association has been fined £1,000 for accepting an "impermissible" donation of £3,000, says the Electoral Commission.
The commission said the association accepted the donation in March 2015 from an individual who did not appear on the register of electors at that time.
It said: "Under electoral law, political parties and their accounting units must not accept a donation unless it comes from a permissible source," adding that the fine was paid immediately.
We'll have a comment from the association shortly.

"You're on peacock duty all the time, and if you're not, your neighbours are, on your behalf. We have a sort of watch going on - peacock watch."

Why is Suffolk County Council considering spending £20m on two new river crossings?
Let's take a closer look now at the decision that needs to be reached this afternoon by Suffolk County Council's cabinet: whether it should invest £20m in making the case for two new river crossings.
In a nutshell, the government has said it will contribute £151m to get the bridges built, at Ipswich Wet Dock, pictured top, and Lake Lothing.
But before that happens, work has to be carried out to develop a final business case to present to the government, so that it releases the money.
