  2. Ronnie Spector on learning from others' mistakes and the British invasion

    Rolling Stone magazine

    Ronnie Spector

Ronnie Spector says she's learned a lot of life lessons from reading books about fellow female artists.

The singer told Rolling Stone she'd read, "about Dolly Parton, Josephine Baker, Billie Holiday. The book Amy Winehouse's mother wrote about her.

"I've learned so much through those women. Each book I go through, I say, 'That's what they did wrong.' That's how I'm still living today.
"

The Ronettes star said it was her memories of hanging out with The Beatles and others that inspired her to record an album of songs by the 1960's British invasion.

"I was in the middle of that. The Ronettes hung out with the Beatles. The Rolling Stones were our opening act. The Kinks played shows with us."

She and her sister even double-dated John Lennon and George Harrison.

Ronnie's just been confirmed to play this year's Glastonbury, taking The Park Stage's 20:00 BST slot on the Friday, in between Daughter and Savages.

“My sister Taka brought both my brother and I on board," Chaka told Dazed

"Upon hearing the track, there was no turning back. Inspiration ensued big time!"

She described her time in the studio with her siblings as "monumental".

“It’s the first time all three of us have been on a track together. It was a long time coming but really fun.”

Chaka also shared her thoughts on the current state of dance music, telling the website, “dance is dance, though the music can be questionable at times.

"DJs are the artists now however, and I know of some making more money than me. But people will always dance and I’m happy to make sure they do.”

And we're more than happy to let you...

  4. Chuckle Brothers and Public Enemy collaboration stuns fans

"The best U2 album is always the one we’re working on. Because the music of what is, is fine music. But the music of what might be, is finer still. Still searching for the crock of gold."

Johnny Marr, Manic Street Preachers, Kasabian, Suede and The Prodigy also make the anniversary edition which is on sale now.

  14. Kraftwerk loses German copyright case

    Kraftwerk at Tate Modern, 2013

A court in Germany has ruled in favour of a hip-hop artist who used a two-second sample of music by pioneering electro-pop band Kraftwerk.

Kraftwerk's Ralf Hutter sued Moses Pelham, alleging his use of the clip from the band's 1977 album Metal On Metal without permission infringed the band's intellectual property rights.

But the constitutional court decided that the impact on Kraftwerk did not outweigh "artistic freedom".

The dispute centres on a short drum loop in a song Nur Mir (Only Me) by Sabrina Setlur.

She continued: "Can you take your tripod down? This isn't a DVD, this is a real show. I'd really like you to enjoy my show because there's lots of people outside that couldn't come in."

Somewhat ironically, the exchange was caught on camera by another member of the audience and it was posted online
