A West Yorkshire MP is calling for tougher sentences for attacks on police officers after acid was sprayed into an officer's face. 

The Conservative MP for Shipley, Philip Davies, told the Commons what happened:

A post mortem examination has been held on human remains found at a West Yorkshire nature reserve. 

West Yorkshire Police say a member of the public found a number of small bones at the Washlands Nature Reserve in Wakefield. 

A force spokesman said officers spent a day making enquiries at the scene after the bones were found yesterday morning. 

Detailed examinations confirmed the bones were human, the spokesman said, and enquiries are ongoing. 

The results of the post mortem examination were inconclusive.

Delays of up to 30 minutes on CrossCountry trains between Newcastle and Reading due to a signalling problem at Derby. 

This will affect Cross Country trains travelling through Leeds and Wakefield Westgate.

West Yorkshire Police’s newest four-legged recruit, a four-year-old shire-cross gelding, joins the likes of Ledston, Ilkley and Breeze at the stables in Carr Gate.

Members of the public are being invited to get their thinking caps on and come up with a West Yorkshire Themed name for the as yet unnamed horse.

Leeds Carnegie winger David Doherty is to become Harrogate's director of rugby next season.  

The ex-Sale Sharks and Wasps winger, who has amassed 49 tries in 107 games during two spells with Carnegie, was told he would not be offered a new deal with the Championship high-fliers for 2016-17.

Doherty, who is 29-years-old, told BBC Radio Leeds he's excited by the new challenge as coach.

A CCTV image has been released of a man with a dog following an incident of threatening behaviour at Halifax railway station.

British Transport Police say the man abused members of ticket office staff at Halifax station on Monday 4 April at about 1115. He then singled out a male member of staff and threatened him with violence. 

The man had light brown hair and a dog.

There's been a truly space-age experience for children at one West Yorkshire school today as they made an interstellar link-up with British astronaut Tim Peake.

It took place at Ashfield Primary School in Otley, and saw pupils talk to Tim live as the International Space Station (ISS) passed above Yorkshire. 

The link with the ISS was the culmination of a two-day, space-related workshop which rounded-up a large range of learning activities using space as a context for teaching throughout the curriculum.

The owner of a dance school has thanked the community for supporting her students after thieves stole £870 they had worked hard to raise.
