  2. West Yorkshire's weather: Dry with cloud increasing

  3. Elland lad to walk out Halifax Town in the FA Trophy at Wembley

    Walking out onto the pitch at Wembley to a packed crowd is a dream for many footballers, young and old, but for one West Yorkshire lad, that's about to become reality.

    Fifteen-year-old Alex Audsley from Elland has been selected to walk out Halifax Town when they face Grimsby in the FA Trophy at Wembley. 

    Alex has cerebral palsy and plays in midfield for local team Greetland Goldstars.

  4. Travel update: Traffic starting to build on the A65 Commercial Road in Kirkstall, Leeds

  5. West Yorkshire Police in ethnic minority recruitment drive

    West Yorkshire Police has appointed an officer with a brief to boost numbers of Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) people applying to join the force.

    PC Amjad Ditta is West Yorkshire Police's new "positive action coordinator"

    The latest Home Office figures show 5.1% of officers in the force come from a BME origin, compared with the national average of 5.5%.

    Census figures for 2011 show the county's BME population as 18.2%.

  6. Kevin Sinfield: I would have regretted not playing rugby union

    Leeds Rhinos legend Kevin Sinfield has said he would have regretted not testing himself in rugby union.

    The 35-year-old brought an end to his sporting career after Yorkshire Carnegie's Championship play-off defeat by Doncaster Knights.

    Sinfield had been signed on an 18-month deal with Carnegie but announced his retirement last month.

    The outbound A650 Tong Street, in Bradford, is very busy at the Knowles Lane Traffic Lights junction.

    The outbound A641 Manchester Road, in Bradford, is busy but moving between the A647 Croft Street junction and the A6177 Smiddles Lane junction.

    The A650 Shipley Airedale Road, in Bradford, is busy in both directions between the A647 Croft Street junction and the A6037 Canal Road junction.

  10. Bradford child deaths: Mum admits killing her two daughters to keep them from their father

    A Bradford crown court jury's been told that a mother, Italian national Samira Lupidi, said she intended to kill her daughters because their father wanted to take them from her.

    Ms Lupidi has admitted she stabbed the two girls, 17-month-old Jasmine Weaver and three-year-old Evelyn Lupidi, to death in November last year. 

    Lupidi denies murder but admits manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility. The trial continues.

  11. Leeds Rhinos: Super League strugglers are 'not in crisis'

    Leeds Rhinos chief executive Gary Hetherington has said the Super League strugglers are not in crisis.

    The Rhinos won the treble last season but currently sit bottom of the table and were knocked out of the Challenge Cup by Huddersfield on Friday.

    They host Castleford on Thursday.

    Huddersfield’s Chris Hanson is celebrating the best European Tour finish of his career.  

    Woodsome Hall's Hanson finished tied fifth on three under par at the European Tour event in Morocco. 

    Hanson finished two shots behind the winner Jeung-Hun Wang of Korea after holding the overnight lead by one.

    The Grade One listed building has undergone a five year makeover costing £6.5m. The Cathedral will be officially rededicated at a special service next Sunday.

  16. Listen: Kellingley miners' welfare claim the club's future is still not secure

    Staff at Kellingley miners' welfare claim the club's future is still not secure - four months after it was sent a draft 30 year lease.

    Kellingley was once the biggest deep mine in Europe and could bring up to 900 tonnes an hour to the surface

    The committee at the club, in Knottingley, say a row over an energy certificate is holding up the paperwork - and has appealed to Wakefield council for help. 

    The council says it can offer support and advice, but can't cover the certificate's cost. That, according to club steward Paul Green, isn't what's happened in the past:

  18. Firefighters tackle large blaze on Ilkley Moor

    West Yorkshire firefighters have been dealing with a large moorland fire on Ilkley Moor.

    It broke out on a 300 square metre area at White Wells in Ilkley at about 2215 yesterday and needed 20 crew to bring the flames under control.

    No properties were affected and the cause of the fire has yet to be established.
