  2. Leeds Rhinos: What has gone wrong for the super league team?

    Leeds Rhinos came into this Super League season on the back of a memorable League Leaders' Shield, Challenge Cup and Grand Final treble.

    But this campaign has lurched from one setback to the next as the loss of key players, coupled with injuries and poor form, have hit the champions hard.

    Friday's 52-18 loss at Warrington left the Rhinos bottom of Super League, 18 points behind leaders Hull FC.

  4. Travel update: Eastbound M62 re-opens between J32a and J33

    The eastbound M62 has re-opened between J32a and J33.

    The westbound M62 is still closed between J32a A1(M) and J33, A162 (Ferrybridge Services) due to an accident and an overturned vehicle.

  5. Blue badge parking charges cause ‘hardship’ at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals

    Disabled people have been suffering financial hardship after being made to pay for car parking at the district’s hospitals.

    A survey of patients with blue badges in their cars found that 64% had experienced money problems as a result of new charges brought in last March.

  6. County Championship: Yorkshire go joint top with Lancashire after Roses match win

    Yorkshire claimed the final five Lancashire wickets for just 12 runs as they went joint top of the County Championship with only their second Roses match victory in 25 years.

    Chasing 349 to win, Lancashire lost four morning wickets to slump to 98-5.

    Karl Brown and Liam Livingstone offered hope of a rescue in a 63-run sixth-wicket stand either side of lunch.

  7. Steve Evans: Leeds United departure was handled 'professionally'

    Former Leeds United head coach Steve Evans says he was content with the way his departure was handled.

    Evans, 53, was relieved of his duties at Elland Road on Tuesday.

    The Scot was the sixth head coach to work under Massimo Cellino since April 2014.

  8. Travel: M62 closed in both directions

    The M62 is closed in both directions between J32a A1(M) and J33, A162 (Ferrybridge Services) due to an accident and an overturned vehicle.

    An air ambulance is in attendance.

  9. Bradford murder victim named

    Police have released the name of a man who died after being found with head injuries outside a Fairweather Green pub at the weekend.

    Peter Burns, 54, from the Girlington area of the city died in hospital yesterday.

    He was found outside the Queen Hotel on Thornton Road after police were called to a report of a fight in the car park shortly after 22.30 on Saturday.

    A murder investigation has been launched and five men have been arrested in connection with the inquiry.

    Four men, aged 20, 22, 33 and 49, all from the Bradford area, were arrested on Sunday and later released on bail.

    A fifth man, aged 29, also from Bradford who was arrested on Monday remains in police custody.

  11. Selby hits out at 'bottler' Josh Warrington

    IBF champion Lee Selby has accused featherweight rival Josh Warrington of 'bottling' a world title shot because it is so close to his August wedding.

    "If I was offered a title fight when I weren't a champion, I'd have divorced my wife to box for it," said Selby.

    "I think he's just bottled it. (The line is) drawn, he's missed his chance. That's the truth. I'd have put it on hold, definitely."

    Welshman Selby had hoped to fight his domestic rival before the end of July.

  12. Reopening of Halifax Piece Hall delayed

    The reopening of a historic building in Halifax will be delayed due to problems with its £19m redevelopment.

    The Piece Hall was set to open over the summer after a two year refurbishment.

    However, the Labour leader of Calderdale Council Tim Swift, said the building "probably won't be fully open by Christmas".

    The European Union hasn't directly built any buildings in our part of the world, but it has helped fund a lot of new developments, many of which come with a sign saying "built with money from the EU".

    For some this is the EU projecting "power" in a different way.

  14. Trial of Leeds United chairman continues

    The trial of Leeds United chairman Massimo Cellino, for charges of embezzlement over the building of a football stadium in Sardinia, resumes today.

    He is one of 11 accused, including former mayor Mauro Contini, of diverting more than 365,000 Euros from a nearby regional park into the construction of the stadium in Cagliari.

    Cellino was not present at the most recent hearing last month.

  15. Court hears man knocked down in Huddersfield as he fled from attacker

    A man was knocked down by a car when he panicked and ran into the road to get away from an assailant who had just attacked him for a second time.

    Leeds Crown Court heard the victim Anthony Preece, 44, was sent flying over the bonnet of the vehicle ending up unable to move in the middle of the road outside the Ivy Green pub in Moldgreen, Huddersfield.

  16. West Yorkshire's weather: Cloudy and dull with the chance of rain

    A grey and cloudy feel to the day across West Yorkshire. The fog gradually clearing, but not much in the way of sunshine today - it will brighten up a little later on however. A few showers as well as some drizzle adding to the murky feel.

    This evening remaining cloudy with the return of a few of those mist and fog patches. Largely dry across the region, temperature lows of 10C (50F).
