Ahead of Glyndebourne’s performance of The Barber of Seville, New Generation Thinker Alun Withey and historian Kathyrn Hughes contemplate the role and politics of shaving in 18th and 19th century Europe.

The discussion is presented by Shahidha Bari from Queen Mary University who is one of the New Generation Thinkers selected by BBC Radio 3 and the Arts and Humanities Research Council in a scheme to find academics interested in turning their research into radio.
