The two hospitals, in Huddersfield and Halifax, are five miles apart and both currently offer a wide range of services. However, the NHS Trust says this is unsustainable with increasing pressures on their finances and difficulties meeting national standards of care.

Sarfraz Khan, 35, of Great Horton in Bradford was found injured at a house on Cecil Avenue on Thursday night and later died in hospital.
All five men were remanded in custody to appear at the city's Crown Court on Wednesday.
Two other men arrested in connection with Mr Khan's death have been released without charge, West Yorkshire Police said.

The council say thanks to the Elland Road scheme's success, West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Leeds City Council are developing a new, 1,000-space park and ride at Temple Green in east Leeds through the £1bn Growth Deal Transport Fund.

Bradford Pride back on after last week's cancellation

Bradford Pride will now go ahead, despite cancellation of the annual event last week.
The festival will now take place at the Bradford Bulls' Odsal stadium, after the City Park event was cancelled due to licensing problems.
Bulls CEO Robbie Hunter-Paul told the club's website: "Bradford Pride is a wonderful event and it is exciting to see it taking place at the Provident Stadium.
"It will be a great day filled with entertainment and we hope everybody enjoys themselves."
