The consultation takes centre stage tonight at the John Smith's Stadium as part of a 14-week public consultation.

The River and Canal Trust is asking people using towpaths to respect the needs of others, while enjoying Yorkshire's waterways. 

With 20 million visitors enjoying the canals in the Pennines in 2015, the charity has introduced signs reminding people to be more polite.

A cyclist has been taken to hospital after suffering a serious head injury in an accident with a car in Bradford.

Hundreds of people are expected to gather in Huddersfield tonight for the second public meeting into proposed changes to hospital services.

The two hospitals, in Huddersfield and Halifax, are five miles apart and both currently offer a wide range of services. However, the NHS Trust says this is unsustainable with increasing pressures on their finances and difficulties meeting national standards of care. 

They are proposing to move all emergency care to Halifax, which would include A&E, Intensive Care and a new facility for very sick children. Watch my report here:

The A641, Manchester Road in Bradford is closed at the A6177, Smiddles Lane junction because of an accident involving one car and one bicycle.

Five men have appeared before magistrates charged with murder and attempted murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man in Bradford last week.

Sarfraz Khan, 35, of Great Horton in Bradford was found injured at a house on Cecil Avenue on Thursday night and later died in hospital. 

All five men were remanded in custody to appear at the city's Crown Court on Wednesday.

Two other men arrested in connection with Mr Khan's death have been released without charge, West Yorkshire Police said.

Work to expand the Elland Road Park and Ride scheme in Leeds is under way.

When it opens in the autumn, the expansion will provide 375 extra parking spaces and a new heated waiting area for passengers.

The council say thanks to the Elland Road scheme's success, West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Leeds City Council are developing a new, 1,000-space park and ride at Temple Green in east Leeds through the £1bn Growth Deal Transport Fund.

It's proposed that Huddersfield Royal Infirmary's A&E will shut and Calderdale Royal Hospital will be expanded into an Emergency Care Centre for both areas.

Cristina George is from the campaign group Hands Off our HRI and says the problem should not be pushed onto the community.

Veteran Australian coach Brian Smith might have left Wakefield after a disappointing start to the 2016 Super League season, but his legacy has played a positive part in the development of one of the club's best young talents.

Winger Tom Johnstone has been a shining light for Trinity, building on his 2015 promise to become one of the most prolific finishers in Super League.

His form has coincided with an upturn in results under new coach Chris Chester, and Johnstone told the BBC Super League Show his relationship with both coaches has been pivotal.

Lisa Lacey, aged 47, who also uses the names Lisa Hauxwell and Lisa Hauxley, was last seen at about 21.00 on Sunday 3 April at her home in Holbeck

Lisa is described as white, slim, 5ft 7ins tall, with shoulder-length blonde hair. She has a strong Geordie accent and a stutter.

Bradford Pride will now go ahead, despite cancellation of the annual event last week.

The festival will now take place at the Bradford Bulls' Odsal stadium, after the City Park event was cancelled due to licensing problems. 

Bulls CEO Robbie Hunter-Paul told the club's website: "Bradford Pride is a wonderful event and it is exciting to see it taking place at the Provident Stadium.

"It will be a great day filled with entertainment and we hope everybody enjoys themselves."

The event will take place on 28 May from 11:00.
