  3. BreakingGLAMORGAN DRAW WITH ESSEX

    Glamorgan 360 & 386-8 dec v Essex 313 & 160-5

And that is indeed it at Cardiff - the match is drawn.

Essex, who have found things fairly easy so far this season, probably came up against their toughest test in Glamorgan who were on top for the majority of the final couple of days.

Essex stay top of Division Two, while Glamorgan remain bottom, but close the gap to Sussex to three points.

  4. Drifting towards a draw

    Glamorgan 260 & 386-8 dec v Essex 313 & 156-5

They're going through the motions a bit at Glamorgan now with Jesse Ryder and Essex skipper Ryan ten Doeschate entrenched.

Eight overs to go - five wickets needed. We could see a handshake very soon.

  5. Listen live

    Every ball covered

As this County Championship round draws to a close, don't worry cricket fans, there's still plenty to get your teeth into later this week!

The T20 Blast is back tomorrow where Surrey take on Glamorgan at The Oval, followed by five matches on Friday.

Also on Friday, England begin their second Test against Sri Lanka at Chester-le-Street...

  6. Ryder restrained

    Glamorgan 260 & 386-8 dec v Essex 313 & 129-5

    Jesse Ryder

Essex batsman Jesse Ryder is having to curtail all his attacking instincts in Cardiff.

The New Zealander has 12 from 64 balls as the Division Two leaders try and save a draw.

It's looking very likely with Glamorgan needing five wickets in 14 overs.

  8. Late drama at Cardiff?

    Glamorgan 260 & 386-8 dec v Essex 313 & 122-5

And so over to our final match left standing, where Essex opener Nick Browne has just been dismissed, lbw, by Graham Wagg for 71. Incredibly it appears the paceman was bowling spin!

Glamorgan need five more wickets in 17 overs.

  9. BreakingHAMPSHIRE BEAT NOTTINGHAMSHIRE BY 69 RUNS

    Hampshire 270 & 223-9 dec v Notts 189 & 235

Nope, Chris Read is unable to bat so it's game over at The Ageas Bowl. What a capitulation by Notts in the last few overs, but a fine win for Hampshire - their first of the season.

  10. WICKET Patel (c Ervine b Crane 65)

    Hampshire 270 & 223-9 dec v Notts 189 & 235-9

Is that Nottinghamshire's final hope of victory gone? Samit Patel edges young spinner Mason Crane to Sean Ervine at slip.

And then what's this?! Next ball Harry Gurney goes, caught by Michael Carberry to leave Notts nine down. Is injured skipper Chris Read coming out to bat or is it game over?

  11. BreakingGLOUCESTERSHIRE DRAW WITH NORTHANTS

    Gloucestershire 418 v Northants 176 & 399-8 dec

The match is drawn at Bristol thanks to final-day centuries from Northants pair Rob Newton and Steven Crook.

Northants only take seven points from the match after their first-innings' batting collapse, compared to Gloucestershire's 11, but they can take a lot of heart from saving the game.

  12. BEST ON FIRE!

    Hampshire 270 & 223-9 dec v Notts 189 & 222-7

Wowzas, Hampshire paceman Tino Best has turned this game on its head in the space of five balls.

Brett Hutton is caught at deep fine leg by Mason Crane off the West Indies quick and Notts are wobbling.

Still no Chris Read as Luke Fletcher comes out to join Samit Patel in the middle.

  13. BreakingMIDDLESEX DRAW WITH SOMERSET

    Middlesex 423 v Somerset 376 & 202-7

The weather has the final say at Lord's as with the players off for bad light, the umpires call time.

James Hildreth and Peter Trego half-centuries saved the game for Somerset on the final day.

Incredibly, both Middlesex and Somerset have drawn their opening six Division One games.

  14. WICKET Christian (b Best 31)

    Hampshire 270 & 223-9 dec v Notts 189 & 222-6

There's another twist at The Ageas Bowl as Dan Christian goes! Tino Best claims his third wicket of the innings by uprooting the big Australian's middle stump.

Brett Hutton is the next man in with Chris Read nursing a hand injury. It remains to be seen whether he'll be needed to bat.

Samit Patel is the key here you feel, he's 56 not out. Notts need 83 to win.

  15. Fifty for Nick Browne

    Glamorgan 260 & 386-8 dec v Essex 313 & 99-4

Essex opener Nick Browne reaches his third County Championship half-century of the season.

Essex are looking safe, but another wicket or two in the next half hour will certainly make things interesting.

25 overs to go at Cardiff.

  16. Get Involved at #bbccricket

It's not quite certain that Middlesex and Somerset will draw their first six games - but the match at Lord's certainly looks to be heading that way. They're off for bad light.

  17. Steven Crook hits a century

    Gloucestershire 418 v Northants 176 & 386-7

What an absolutely brilliant knock from Steven Crook.

The Northants all-rounder came in with his side staring down the barrel, but has made a 127-ball ton with 17 fours.

The game is surely safe now.

    Steven Crook
  18. Bad light stops play

    Middlesex 423 v Somerset 376 & 202-7

Any chances of a positive result at Lord's are now surely over as bad light forces the players from the field.

There are 30 overs left, with Somerset's lead standing at 155, but we'll start to lose overs from now on.

  19. Notts need less than 100

    Hampshire 270 & 223-9 dec v Notts 189 & 213-5

Dan Christian is a destructive batsman on his day, and he's beginning to show signs of it at The Ageas Bowl, hitting a couple of fours and big six off the leg-spinner Mason Crane.

    Nottinghamshire require 92 for victory.

  20. Draw on cards at Lord's

    Middlesex 423 v Somerset 376 & 202-7

I wonder when the last time two sides had drawn their opening six matches of a County Championship season? If anyone's got time to look it up - please let me know at #bbccricket

That's the way the game appears to be heading at Lord's where Somerset's James Hildreth (85 not out) and Craig Overton (19 not out) have all-but saved the match for their side.

Somerset lead by 155 with three wickets and 30 overs remaining. If Middlesex wrap up this innings quickly, we could have an exciting chase on our hands.
