Tory wins PCC election by nearly 10,000 votes
Conservative Lorne Green won today's Norfolk PCC election after second-preference votes were counted.
Mr Green got 42,928 votes in the first round, and 17,133 in the second, a total of 60,061.
Labour's Dr Chris Jones came second with 37,141 votes in the first round and 13,146 in the second, a total of 50,287.

The new police and crime commissioner for Norfolk is the Conservative candidate, Canadian-born former diplomat Lorne Green, who has lived in Snettisham for three decades.

He beat Labour's Dr Chris Jones, and said his diplomatic skills would be vital in his job.
"I worked in the former Yugoslavia at a time when patience was needed in negotiations with people holding very divergent views. These are the skills of the diplomat I intend to bring to the PCC role," he said.

The Labour candidate for the post of Norfolk's Police and Crime Commissioner, Dr Chris Jones, received the single biggest vote in any district for any of those competing.

In Norwich alone Dr Jones collected 13,903 votes to win through to the second round against the Conservatives' Lorne Green.
Dr Jones, a forensic psychiatrist, has worked for the NHS for 32 years.
RNLI beach patrols celebrate 10th year in North Norfolk

A partnership to provide patrols and beach monitoring to protect seaside visitors in North Norfolk is celebrating its 10th anniversary season.

The RNLI first teamed up with North Norfolk District Council in 2007 to provide beach patrols at Cromer, Sheringham, Mundesley and Sea Palling.
A decade later the service has expanded along the East Anglian coast to 16 beaches down the coast, including Great Yarmouth and Suffolk.
Four veteran RNLI lifeguards ever-present since that first day are Vincent Pank, Sam Kendrick, Scott Davidson and Chris Wall.
Ousted PCC 'disappointed' - but says successor faces challenges

The ousted Police and Crime Commissioner for Norfolk, the independent Stephen Bett, said he was very disappointed to have lost out on the first round of the election but said competing with national party machines was always going to be a challenge.

"It's my baby as I built the office to what it is now and that's one of the best in the country. That has been independently vetted," he said.
"I am sorry not to carry on but the new person taking over faces challenges in issues of mental health, rehabilitation of prisoners, internal discipline and further links with blue-light services."

He said: "We are a small school and hadn't got the boys to fulfill the fixture as it stood. If we did put out a sub-standard team it could have ended up 15 or 20-0 because we're at the top level in a national competition."
The English Schools FA said it respected Langley's decision but was "very disappointed" it had declined to play.

Langley School said it had been unable to field a team because key players were on a tour with Norwich City's academy.

Traffic is slow and queuing on the A11 Newmarket Road in Eaton because of roadworks.

The turnout in the election for the Norfolk police and crime commissioner was just under 24%, an increase on the figure of 15% four years ago.

The highest figure was in Norwich, where city council elections were also being held. A total of 34,891 votes were cast there, representing a 36% turnout. The lowest turnout, 19%, was in Breckland.
Six candidates are competing for the post. Results from centres across the county are being collated at King's Lynn where the result will be announced later.

Man sought by police for breaching prison release licence conditions

A 19-year-old man wanted for recall to prison after breaching release licence conditions is sought by police in Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.
Nicholas Humphries (pictured) has links to the Fairstead estate in King's Lynn but could also be in the Peterborough area, police said.
He is described as of medium build and about 5ft 7in (1.70m) tall. He often uses a mountain bike and wears sports clothing.
Anyone with information should contact police but should not approach him.
