I was invited along to Cundall Manor School a little earlier today to find out how the idea of axe-throwing came about.
Apparently it's to do with learning about control and discipline - and having lots of fun...

Organisers of the Bram Stoker Film Festival, which also takes place in the town, have suggested the new "graveyard" could be built on a piece of land near the top of Whitby's 199 Steps, which lead from the town to St Mary's church and the abbey.
Elaine Edmunds, of gothic art group Decadent Drawing Dark Arts, says it's a good idea: "Every goth weekend a lot of people want to come up here to have pictures taken. People show virtually no respect for the graveyard itself or the people who are buried there."

Pickering RotariansCopyright: Pickering Rotarians
The Sweet Charity team finished the Vogalonga in a time of five hours and 30 minutes. They thought they'd do it in six to seven hours.
That's pretty impressive when you consider their Yorkshire Cobble weighs in at 600kgs, making her one of the heaviest boats in the race.

The team told me the race was rowed in perfect but crowded conditions - the organisers allowed 1,800 boats to take part.

Well done the Sweet Charity team. Vogalonga completed and £16,000 raised for Marie Curie and Rotary charities.
Well worth the 18 months the trip took to plan - they just have to get the boat home now!
