Right then, that is all from Sportsday today.

But you can head over here for live text commentary of this evening's Premier League affairs, which are:

    • Aston Villa v Crystal Palace
    • Bournemouth v West Ham
    • Newcastle v Man Utd.

Or if the Football League is more your thing, you'll want to head over here from 19:00 GMT.

And Sportsday will of course be back tomorrow morning, at 08:00. So until then, we'll be seeing you!

  2. Christian will have a Blast

    Cricket

    Dan Christian

Nottinghamshire have re-signed former Australia all-rounder Dan Christian for this summer's T20 Blast.

The 32-year-old was with Notts for the second half of last season, playing in the Blast and the Royal London One-Day Cup, hitting three half-centuries.

  3. Ferguson staying a Lion

    Football

    Shane Ferguson

Newcastle defender Shane Ferguson has extended his loan spell at Millwall.

The 24-year-old Northern Ireland international joined the League One side in August, and has now extended his deal until 23 January.

Ferguson has made 25 appearances in all competitions for Millwall to date, scoring twice.

  4. New faces in Jones' first selection

    Rugby Union

Eddie Jones looks set to select a sprinkling of uncapped talent - and leave out some established names - when his first England squad is announced on Wednesday.

It is understood that the 33-man group will include exciting newcomers like Wasps centre Elliot Daly, Saracens forward Maro Itoje and Harlequins flanker Jack Clifford.

Exeter back Sam Hill and Sale Sharks number eight Josh Beaumont - son of England's 1980 Grand Slam captain Bill Beaumont - are also thought to have made an impression on Jones.

  5. Countdown to kick-off

Aston Villa v Crystal Palace (19:45 GMT)

    Richards

Aston Villa captain Micah Richards is fit despite limping off with a foot problem against Wycombe on Saturday.

Gabriel Agbonlahor is a doubt with a back problem while Jack Grealish is battling to shake off tonsillitis.

Crystal Palace's Connor Wickham is in contention to feature after returning to training following a calf injury.

Yohan Cabaye will be assessed after suffering a knock against Southampton at the weekend but Yannick Bolasie remains sidelined with a leg problem.

  6. Newcastle sign Shelvey

    Football

Newcastle United sign England midfielder Jonjo Shelvey from Premier League relegation rivals Swansea City for £12m.

The 23-year-old passed a medical at St James' Park before the deal was completed on Tuesday.

Shelvey, who had signed a four-year contract extension in 2015, is the first player to leave since Alan Curtis took charge.

He becomes Newcastle's second January signing after Senegal midfielder Henri Saivet's arrival on Monday.

  8. Countdown to kick-off

Bournemouth v West Ham (19:45 GMT)

    Juan Iturbe

Have Bournemouth managed to complete the paper work on Juan Iturbe's loan transfer in time for the 22-year-old forward to face West Ham?

With line-ups to come in just under an hour, we're perhaps not too far away from knowing, but fellow new signing Benik Afobe is expected to be involved against the Hammers.

Slaven Bilic's side will assess winger Enner Valencia and midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate, who both missed Saturday's win over Wolves with minor knocks.

Manuel Lanzini faces up to six weeks on the sidelines after suffering a recurrence of a thigh injury.

  9. England to play in SheBelieves Cup

    Football

England's women are to face World Cup winners USA, European champions Germany and France in a new four-team tournament in March.

The Lionesses - ranked fifth in the world - will take on the top three teams in the world at the SheBelieves Cup, in the USA.

England will now not compete in the Cyprus Cup which they won last year by beating Canada 1-0 in the final.

"We have been working hard now for a number of months to add more matches against top-tier nations," said head coach Mark Sampson.

"The opportunity to compete against the three best teams in the world is a crucial step in providing more opportunities for the team to develop."

  10. Premier League XI versus World XI

    Football

So you have seen the Premier League team, so this, to remind you, is the Fifa team of the year.

How would our Premier League side get on? Well, any collection of players would struggle against a front three of Neymar, Ronaldo and Messi and the World XI would surely score lots against the Premier League defence.

However, with players like Mesut Ozil, Kevin de Bruyne, Alexis Sanchez and Sergio Aguero in the Premier League side there would be loads of goals and excitement at both ends.

  11. Your final Premier League XI

So we have been asking for your votes all day trying to pick a potential Premier League XI that could go up against the Fifa/Fifpro World XI side.

Thanks to everyone who has voted and we've had thousands and thousands of votes. These are the chosen men...

  12. Corbisiero leaves Northampton

    Rugby Union

England and British and Irish Lions prop Alex Corbisiero has left Premiership side Northampton Saints with immediate effect.

The 27-year-old, capped 20 times by England, announced in December that he is taking a year out from the game.

He won Premiership and European Challenge Cup trophies in 2014 but knee, shoulder and lower-back injuries have limited club and country progress.

"I've had some amazing highs and some frustrating lows," said Corbisiero.

"I have always been well looked after and supported. It's been an honour to be part of such a special group of players and I wish them all the best."

  13. Your Premier League XI

    Football

So these are the results for our vote for the three forwards to lead our Premier League XI to go up against the Fifa/Fifpro World XI.

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero got the most votes, with Alexis Sanchez of Arsenal and Jamie Vardy of Leicester also in the side.

  14. 'Second would have been nice...'

    Football

    Neymar

Barcelona striker Neymar has - in the mildest possible way - admitted he is disappointed to finish third behind Real Madrid's Ronaldo and Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi.

"I'd hoped to come second," he told Marca.

"I'm delighted to be here alongside two footballing greats. I hope to come back and for my team to keep winning.

"I don't want to be better than anyone else; I just want to better myself. Now I have to work a little bit more to be among the three finalists again."

  15. Wolves sign Swindon's Randall

    Football

Wolves have signed teenage winger Will Randall from home town club Swindon Town for an undisclosed fee.

The 18-year-old has made three starts in 11 first-team appearances for Swindon since making his debut on the final day of the 2013-14 season.

  16. Countdown to kick-off

Newcastle v Manchester United (19:45 GMT)

    g

Let's turn our attention to the three Premier League encounters taking place in a few hours, starting with a bit of early team news.

Newcastle captain Fabricio Coloccini, winger Florian Thauvin and defender Kevin Mbabu are all doubtful to face Manchester United because of injury.

However, Magpies midfielder Jack Colback is expected to return to the side after recovering from a hamstring problem.

Reds midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is out after suffering a knee problem against Sheffield United.

Morgan Schneiderlin, Michael Carrick and Ashley Young were not involved at the weekend and could all return.

  17. Rocket returns with a bang

    Snooker

    Ronnie O'Sullivan

Ronnie O'Sullivan made a winning return in his first major tournament for nine months with a 6-5 victory over Mark Williams in the Masters first round.

The five-time world and Masters champion took a break from the sport after last year's World Championship.

Trailing 4-2, he won three straight frames before securing his place in the quarter-finals after Williams missed a plant in the decider.

Mark Selby faces Ricky Walden at 19:00 GMT at Alexandra Palace in London.

  18. Replaced already?

    Football

    Well that didn't take long.

Dunn was sacked 40 minutes ago, after just 20 games in charge and with Latics third-bottom in League One.

  19. Sorry Louis, Manuel, Arsene, et al...

    Football

    g

Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola has apologised for putting managers under pressure by announcing his intention to move to the Premier League next season.

The Spaniard, who will leave Bayern when his contract expires in the summer, has said he has received several offers from English clubs.

Speaking at Bayern's winter training camp in Doha, he said he was "sorry" if his comments were disrespectful.

"It was not my intention to offend anybody," said the 44-year-old. "Normally in my career as a trainer and as a player, I respect my colleagues a lot."

  20. Leicester v Spurs live on BBC One

    FA Cup

That tie takes place next Wednesday, a 19:45 GMT kick-off.

Let's hope it's as good as the first!
