  1. And finally...

That's it from us, but scroll down to catch up on news on everyone from The Who to Wagner, Joey Bada$$ to All Saints - and a confession from Missy Elliott.

Meanwhile, we'll leave you with this from The Late Show in the US.

It's not the first time Skrillex and Chance the Rapper have collaborated, but it's definitely the first time they've rapped about breakfast choices.

The pair were challenged to come up with some rhymes about new developments in the breakfast market by host Stephen Colbert.

Gems rapped by Chance included: “If your toast’s too big, don’t mope, have hope,” and “We got small toast that you can see through a microscope."

Think we'll stick to cornflakes. We'll be back bright and early tomorrow.

  2. Four Lions debut video for their Euro 2016 anthem

Yesterday we gave you the chance to hear Shaun Ryder's new Euro 2016 anthem - and today you can watch him sing/shout it too.

Four Lions - that's Ryder and Kermit from Black Grape, plus Goldie and DJ Paul Oakenfold - have just released the video for We Are England, which features cameos from Happy Monday's star Bez and Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh. We think you'll agree, it's a pretty entertaining watch.

Shaun Ryder told the BBC a bit more about how the unofficial footie anthem came about, admitting: "I know absolutely nothing about football."

Quote Message: Oakie [Paul Oakenfold] emailed me and said he wanted to do a tune for the Euros, but he didn’t want it too football-y. He didn’t want it political or religious, he really wanted it to be for the heroes of this country, which is the working men and women of England.
  3. Hunger Games and Harry Potter composer to play Royal Albert Hall

    James Newton Howard

James Newton Howard, the composer behind scores for The Hunger Games, Dark Knight and Pretty Woman, has announced the world premiere of his new greatest hits show will take place at the Royal Albert Hall in London, before touring Europe.

The Grammy and Emmy Award-winning composer is currently scoring the forthcoming Harry Potter prequel, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, due out in November.

His 3 Decades of Music show is a date for next year's diary, on Friday 3 November 2017.

Newton Howard will conduct a symphony orchestra and choir with more than 100 performers, together with clips and montages from the movies.

“During this very special evening, I’ll be conducting many of my best-known works, as well as telling the hidden stories behind the films, with the help of new interviews featuring some of my long-time collaborators,” he said.

The show will also include music from My Best Friend’s Wedding, Blood Diamond, The Prince of Tides and The Sixth Sense - as well as the theme tune he wrote for hit medical drama ER.

Tickets went on sale this morning from the Royal Albert Hall website

  4. The Strokes singer not keen on festivals

    Julian Casablancas

Look away now if you're heading to a festival this summer - The Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas has said that he and most other bands don't like playing at such events.

Speaking to Zane Lowe on his Beats 1 radio show, Casablancas was asked about playing to big crowds.

The singer claimed that "98% of the musicians I talk to" don't like playing festivals and that he prefers to “play surprise shows in half empty bars”.

The band are set to play the Splendour in the Grass Festival in Australia next month.

We're sure the crowd will get them into the swing of it.

  5. Joey Bada$$ debuts new track Devastated

    BBC Radio 1

    Joey Bada$$

Devastated, the new track from Joey Bada$$, was Annie Mac's Hottest Record last night and the 21-year-old rapper got on the phone from New York, where he was celebrating just getting his driving licence.

"When we made this record in the studio, we all had that feeling like, 'yo this is the one, this one is really going to go and expand and push the barriers, push the envelope'," he told Annie.

"Just to see the reaction, it's very reassuring for me. I'm just super excited at the moment, I feel like the timing is perfect, Summer '16, you know."

Listen to the track and the interview to hear more on what's in store for the rapper.

You can also listen back to the show's special live performance from Jamaican reggae singer Protoje, who covered Tupac's California Love.

  6. Holly Mathieson lands Scottish conductor role

New Zealand conductor Holly Mathieson, currently based in the UK, has been appointed as the Royal Scottish National Orchestra’s new assistant conductor, following a recruitment process which attracted over 300 applicants worldwide.

And who knows where it could lead?

Earlier this year, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) appointed Mirga Grazinyte-Tyla as its musical director.

While not the first, Grazinyte-Tyla is currently the only female music conductor in the UK.

  7. Travis to perform 'solar-powered' set at Glastonbury

BBC Music Day 2016: Travis and the BBC SSO at The Barrowland

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Croissant Neuf Field area at Glastonbury, Travis have been booked to play a special performance in the Green Fields' solar-powered tent.

They'll take to the stage at 16:00 on the Saturday afternoon (25 June) in support of the Croissant Neuf ethos - "mixing back-to-basics simplicity with modern-day technologies and solutions".

To get you in the mood, you can watch what happened when Travis teamed up with BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra to play Glasgow's Barrowlands for BBC Music Day last Friday.

  8. Wagner's Ring Cycle to be broadcast live from Bayreuth Festival

    Bayreuth Festival and Wagner statue

Fans of Wagner’s iconic Ring Cycle will be able to watch it performed live from the Bayreuth Festival in Germany from the comfort of their sofa for the first time next month.

Sky Arts has been given access to the theatre (pictured) founded by Wagner and its productions of the four-part operatic masterpiece: Das Rheingold, Die Walküre, Siegfried, and Götterdämmerung.

Opera and Wagner fan Stephen Fry will also interview the cast and tour the famous Bayreuth Festspielhaus, built and conceived by Wagner in 1876 to showcase his works.

Ring Cycle will be broadcast in the UK and Ireland over two consecutive nights, culminating in a live transmission of Götterdämmerung on Sunday 31 July.

  9. DJ Shadow teams up with Nils Frahm

DJ Shadow gave 6 Music's Nemone the exclusive first play of his new track Bergschrund last night, as part of Recommends Day - a collaboration with composer Nils Frahm.

DJ Shadow recently told Pitchfork it was one of two tracks they worked on, and that teaming up enabled them to make music that would sound "completely different than anything we could do on our own."

Bergschrud will feature on his forthcoming new album The Mountain Will Fall, due on 24 June - take a listen below:

DJ Shadow's tour hits the UK in July for dates in Glasgow, Bristol, Secret Garden Party, the Blue Dot Festival at Jodrell Bank and the Brixton Electric in London.

  10. Missy Elliott has 'lost' unreleased Prince tracks

    Missy Elliott

Misplacing your keys? Easily done. Misplacing unreleased music by Prince? Not something you'd necessarily want to admit to.

However, Missy Elliott has come clean and owned up to the fact that it's not just Prince's famous vault that is home to unreleased tracks - he gave her some music years ago, but she's not sure where it is.

The rapper explained all on CBC Music’s The Strombo Show

"He had sent me some stuff, music of his and I moved and I could never find that music. And yesterday I was sitting there saying, ‘I have to go to my house, in my storage space and find this music'.”

Fans all over paid tribute to Prince on what would have been the star's 58th birthday - but Missy had a plea for music lovers:

"We really have to start appreciating these artists while they are still here and not just wait until these moments to recognise the genius and the greatness of what they’ve done for music.”

  11. Spring King perform new track Tell Me If You Like To

Yesterday we brought you Michael Kiwanuka's special live performance for 6 Music Recommends Day, but you can now catch up on a Spring King session, after they performed live on Steve Lamacq's show yesterday evening.

The post-punk four-piece from Manchester played the title track from their forthcoming debut album Tell Me If You Like To. It may just be us, but if you close your eyes you can picture the mosh pit.

  12. The Who slam talk of Quadrophenia sequel

    The Who

Rumours of a follow-up to the cult 1979 film Quadrophenia, based on The Who's rock opera of the same name, have been circling since late May.

But the legendary band are not happy, it seems.

In an interview with The Mirror earlier this year, filmmaker Ray Burdis said he would be directing the sequel.

Now, The Who's manager, Bill Curbishley, has issued a statement describing the idea as "totally ridiculous".

"Quadrophenia has an enduring appeal and will forever be the definitive mod film," Curbishley said in a statement on Wednesday.

"Quadrophenia is a significant and influential film based on The Who’s music, not some Carry On franchise. Any follow-up to this film could only be made by the authors of the original and would need to be worthy of the name. This karaoke sequel announced recently in the press would be totally ridiculous."

    Oo-er.

  13. Descendents back with new album

    Milo Aukerman and Karl Alvarez

Punk pioneers Descendents are back with their first studio album in 12 years, Hypercaffium Spazzinate, their first since 2004's Cool To Be You.

Describing the record, frontman Milo Aukerman said: "I think one of the things that’s kept us inspired over the years is having the music as an outlet for our frustrations.

"Having the freedom to completely blow my voice out every time I recorded was a very positive experience for me".

The band will also tour across Europe this summer, including a show at Blackpool's Winter Gardens on the 4 August.

  15. Drake's early acting skills revealed

    Rolling Stone magazine

We all know Drake landed his big break in teen TV series Degrassi: The Next Generation.

But we've got some footage of the actor/rapper before he made the big time - performing improv comedy at the Rivoli Theater in Toronto.

We don't know exactly when it took place but who knew he had a talent for singing country and western?

    Take a peek below.

  16. Gene Simmons loves it loud

    BBC Radio 2

Kiss founder Gene Simmons is gearing up for his first Radio 2 Show later this week, I Love It Loud.

The rock star spoke to the station's Mark Goodier ahead of the show and confessed he's "always been an Anglophile" when it comes to music.

The show, which airs at 22:00, has been recorded in an LA studio.

When asked if his sessions in the studio had been glamorous, Simmons replied: "Wherever you go, you have to have 16 vestal virgins and peeled grapes... that's par for the course!"

Sounds like it might be worth tuning in.

  17. Chase & Status 'never dreamed' of getting to four albums

    BBC Newsbeat

    Chase & Status

Chase & Status say it's "surreal" they are currently readying their fourth album, as the London duo never expected to be in a position to put music out.

"13 years ago, we never thought we'd be talking to anyone about our fourth album, maybe even a first," they told Newsbeat

"Four albums is something we never dreamed of, so we're very excited."

The follow-up to 2013's Brand New Machine will be released later this year and features collaborations with artists such as Slaves.

"That's part of the magic for us - the people we work with," they said.

"It's just people we find exciting, sound like themselves and that stand out."

  18. Stevie Wonder and John Legend perform for Clinton

    Billboard magazine

    Stevie Wonder

Hillary Clinton must be beaming right now - not only has she just secured the Democratic presidential nomination in the US but she has some seriously big backers from the music world.

Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Ricky Martin and Christina Aguilera all performed at the She's With Us fundraiser concert in LA last night.

"I do believe that Hillary Clinton will be the next president of the United States," said Latin star Martin.

There were also appearances from Cher, Jamie Foxx and Eva Longoria.

Foxx told the audience at the Greek Theatre: "Ladies, don't let anyone steal this moment away from them and get Hillary Clinton in the White House."
