The punk rocker turned lifeboatman

As co-founder and lead singer of 1970s punk band Crass, Steve Ignorant was at the forefront of the anarchist movement, taking part in direct action and arranging 24 hour squats.

But now his life has taken a rather different turn.

Having moved to the sleepy Norfolk seaside village of Sea Palling, Steve now volunteers as a crew member in the village's independent lifeboat service.

But it's not a quiet life when the pager goes off, as he explains.
