Bart's Hospital first in UK to do new pacemaker op

A patient at Bart's Hospital has become the first in the UK to receive a new pacemaker which requires minimal surgery.

The device is around a tenth of the size of conventional pacemakers.

Heart patient Maureen McCleave was grateful to receive the operation, which Professor Richard Schilling, a surgeon at Barts Health NHS Trust, said was a UK first.

He also explain how the operation works and what impact it will have on pacemaker technology.
