Ashton Carter: US strategy in Iraq makes 'perfect sense'

The US Defence Secretary Ashton Carter has said American strategy in Iraq still makes 'perfect sense', despite the recent loss of the city of Ramadi, to Islamic State.

Speaking exclusively to the BBC, Mr Carter also said that rising tensions in the South China Sea will not stop US military operations in the Pacific.

Mr Carter said the US will continue to play a "pivotal" role in Asia.

The US Defence Secretary spoke to the BBC's Katty Kay.
