Hardeep Singh Kohli sits in to host the topical faith programme. His guest this morning is Peter Howson who was the Imperial War Museum's official war artist during the Balkans War in the 1990s and whose works are collected by Madonna, David Bowie and Mick Jagger. Peter has battled all his life with with drugs, alcohol and depression. He talks to Hardeep about how his conversion to Christianity in 2000 has helped him to deal with these ongoing problems, about how his diagnosis for Asperger's Syndrome affected him and about the commission from St Andrew's Cathedral in Glasgow in 2012 to create a portrait of the newly instated Scottish saint of the Catholic Church, John Ogilvie. Hardeep's faith guest is Canon Ann Easter.

Peter Howson

Peter Howson is a graduate of the Glasgow School of Art, but it was only in his final year that his formidable talent was recognised and encouraged.    He has since built up a reputation as one of his generation’s most prominent figurative artists and has consistently exhibited both in this country and abroad. 

Peter recently announced that he will be walking 300 miles across Scotland as part of a series of activities to raise awareness for autism.  He was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome only a few years ago and, through his walk, he is hoping to raise funds and to increase public understanding of the condition.
