Jamie Cullum's guest is the American jazz saxophonist and composer Archie Shepp.

Jamie Cullum plays an hour of jazz music ranging from its heritage to its future.

This week, Jamie's guest is the American jazz saxophonist and composer Archie Shepp. The musician tells how his father inspired him to get into jazz in the early days through artists like Count Basie and Slim Gaillard.

The saxophone player reminisces about making the first Attica Blues album and performing in the infamous Attica prison in the '70s. Lastly, he talks about re-recording the record today with artists such as Cecile McLorin Salvant.
