Some rain sleet and wet snow is possible, but this is not expected to settle, with lows of 1C (34F).

An accident has closed a lane on the M1 northbound between J27 for Hucknall and J28 for Alfreton.

Derby County head coach Paul Clement has highlighted the next four matches as a real test of his side's promotion credentials.

The Rams resume after the international break at home to Cardiff tomorrow.

The Welsh club are seventh in the Championship, just two places behind Derby, who also face leaders Hull and second-placed Brighton over the next few weeks.

Callum Reilly says he is 100% certain that Burton Albion can bounce back from their FA Cup disappointment away at Bury tomorrow.

Network Rail has said sorry to a Staffordshire woman for a breakdown in communication after it cut down 50 trees on her land for safety reasons by the Derby to Stoke railway line.

A spokesman apologised for any distress caused to Lynne Dutton, whose home backs on to the track.

He said: "We've got a team out there today looking at removing the logs, and hopefully we can get this resolved as soon as possible."

A Staffordshire woman says Network Rail promised to remove all the debris when it felled about 50 trees on her land for safety reasons because of their proximity to the Derby to Stoke railway line.

Lynne Dutton, from Sudbury, said: "I just can't come down here. It breaks my heart to see this mess.

"They could have just chopped them off halfway. It's ruined the property, ruined the view, but the worst thing is the devastation which they've left."

A broken down lorry is blocking one lane on the A50 eastbound just before the J24a of the M1 in Cavendish Bridge, with congestion back to junction 1 for Long Eaton.

A Derby man who has appeared in court to fight his extradition to Italy has been described as a "leading man" of radical and fundamentalist group Rawti Shax.

Zana Rahim, aged 32, of Curzon Street, and two other men were atWestminster Magistrates' Court after Italy requested their extradition,claiming they're key members of the organisation plotting to carry out attacks across Europe.

Mr Rahim is the son-in-law of the group's leader Mullah Krekar, who was jailed in Norway in 2012, and was described as someone who often acted as the group's spokesman and an "administrator" in its chatrooms.

The men's lawyers say they'll challenge the extradition, and the hearing continues.

A primary school in Burton is well on its way out of special measures, according to details of an inspection by an education watchdog.

Three men, including one from Derby, alleged to be key members of an Isis-affiliated terror group which plotted to execute attacks across Europe and kidnap diplomats, are fighting extradition from Britain to italy.

Zana Rahim, aged 32, of Curzon Street, and the other two men appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court today where it was claimed they held senior positions in radical and fundamentalist organisation Rawti Shax.

The men's lawyers explained they would be challenging the extraditionon grounds of "refoulment", the illegal returning of refugees.

Italy had requested the extradition of four men, but the warrant was withdrawn for one of them today. The hearing continues.

A woman from Sudbury says she's distraught after dozens of her trees were chopped down and left on her land. 

Lynne Dutton's home backs on to the Derby to Stoke railway line, and a neighbouring tree fell on to the track earlier this year.

Network Rail says it identified her trees as diseased and dangerous, and cleared about 50 of them.

Andrew Titchener, a junior doctor from Derbyshire, says he wouldn't have become a medic if the government's new contract had been in force.

The proposed changes to overtime and weekend payments have led hospital staff to vote overwhelmingly in favour of strike action.

Rail stories are very much part of today's news agenda as Network Rail and the government come under attack from a group of MPs over delays to an electrified rail line between London and Derby.

The chair of the Public Accounts Committee, Meg Hillier, says there is a chance the project won't happen at all.

She said: "We didn't get any clear indication that it wouldn't, but nor did we get a definite date for when it will happen, and clearly electrification of the Midland Mainline is really important.

"In order for the East Midlands to punch at its weight it needs good transport links, and it will be falling behind other regions if it doesn't get this."

Derby County want to extend the iPro Stadium.

Plans have been unveiled for an extension beneath the north stand and part of the east stand terracing to increase office and corporate hospitality space.

A lane is closed on the M1 southbound at J26 because of a broken down vehicle.

Derby's contribution to the UK's largest rail project is recognised today as the design of the trains is unveiled.

Some of the features were already in the public domain and, as you might expect, the Bombardier-built carriages will be fully wheelchair-accessible, air-conditioned and wi-fi enabled.

The new trains will cater for 1,500 passengers and will be in service from May 2017.

Alfreton Town host Boston United in National League North tomorrow aiming to build on their win at Harrogate last weekend.

The Reds will have central defender Tom Allan available again after a one-match ban.

A MeetTheDrs event will be held in Derby's Cornmarket tomorrow as junior doctors highlight concerns over what they see as the government's imposition of unsafe and unfair contracts.

Andrew Titchener, from Chesterfield Royal Hospital, is a junior doctor who voted in favour of strike action because he says the new package isn't safe.

He told BBC Radio Derby: "Tired doctors, disenfranchised doctors don't make good doctors, and the jobs that we do, mistakes are and can be critical."

While it remains to be seen whether snow will be restricted to high ground in the next 48 hours, it seems chilly Arctic winds are set to more noticeable.

A 64-year-old man has been found dead on his canal boat, a coroner has confirmed.

A Derby man arrested as part of an international investigation into an alleged European Islamist terror network is due back at Westminster Magistrates' Court today.

Zana Rahim, 32, was remanded in custody a week ago with three other men ahead of a full extradition hearing after they didn't apply for bail.

The four were detained on European Arrest Warrants in an operation led by Italian authorities probing a group described as a terrorist organisation of Kurdish-Sunni origin.

Italy has requested the extradition of the four men.

Designs have been unveiled for the trains being made in Derby for the London Crossrail project.

The Bombardier-built trains will have space for 1,500 passengers in nine walk-through carriages and each will be more than 200m long.

They will also be fully wheelchair-accessible, air-conditioned and wi-fi enabled. 

A replacement bus service is running between Hadfield and Manchester Piccadilly due to a broken down train at Fairfield.

Derby County resume Championship action at home to Cardiff tomorrow.

Derby's popular night market got under way in the Cathedral Quarter last night with around 200 stalls set up in the city centre and thousands of people joining in the fun.
