I've been lucky enough to commentate on a number of upsets over the years - Kevin Ratcliffe's Shrewsbury knocking out Everton at Gay Meadow takes some beating.

But I have to pick out last season's Fourth Round Saturday when I was reporting for 5 live at The Etihad Stadium; while my eyes were watching Middlesbrough knock out Manchester City, my ears were listening to Bradford City producing that most extraordinary upset at Stamford Bridge. 

The commentary from Alistair Bruce-Ball and Nigel Spackman on Bradford's fourth goal was a brilliant piece of radio. And it was one of the most memorable afternoon's I've experienced in the whole time I've been doing this job.

January 2013. Thousands of Coventry City fans travelled to White Hart Lane hoping history would repeat itself. The 1987 final - Tottenham 2 Coventry 3 - etched on their minds.

Within half an hour, though, their hopes were in tatters: two goals from Clint Dempsey and one from Gareth Bale blew the Sky Blues away. Bale, that day, was unplayable. 

But the Coventry fans stayed. They sang, they cheered and they did their club proud.

Edmonds alert! Exeter fan and Deal or no Deal host Noel Edmonds is fully confident ahead of the Grecians’ cup tie with Liverpool.

He classes Jurgen Klopp’s side as the underdogs and warns them of the ‘embarrassment’ if Exeter were to win the tie.

This is going to cause problems at Crinkley Bottom. Mr Blobby is a massive Reds fan.

Alan Smith was sent off and Scott Young scored the late winner that saw third-tier Cardiff City knockout Premier League leaders Leeds United in 2002.

At the end, there were fans on the pitch; also police on the pitch with their horses and dogs.

Back stage my BBC colleague Jonathan Overend had his recording equipment confiscated by Cardiff owner Sam Hammam. I went to ask for it back but was escorted away by a minder, not before witnessing a car-park bust-up between Hammam and Leeds manager David O'Leary. 

The verbals were flying before Leeds chairman Peter Ridsdale calmed the situation. Leeds United were never the same again. 

That 2-1 defeat in January 2002 was the beginning of their demise. "Could I go back to the ground the day after and report on the fall-out from the crowd disturbances?" the BBC asked. "Sorry", I said. "I am cruising the Caribbean."   The best timed holiday of all.

Arsene Wenger flat-batted the question in his news conference earlier, but the noise around a potential swoop for Watford striker Troy Deeney won't die down.

Former Gunners player Paul Merson has even got in on it, suggesting to Sky Sports that the 27-year-old would be a good signing for his ex-club.

"I can see the Troy Deeney one happening, I think he is a good footballer and works very hard for the team, so that does not shock me that one," said Merson. "He is a decent player, has got a very good football brain, never moans, and gets on with it."

Republic of Ireland midfielder Stephen Hunt has joined Coventry City on a short-term contract.

The 34-year-old, who was released by Ipswich last summer, has been training with the Sky Blues for the past week.

The FA Cup third round kicks off tonight with Exeter taking on Liverpool St James Park.

It's also the round when the so called "giants" of the game make their bow in the competition.

The great imponderable.... did Mark Robins' header keep Alex Ferguson in the job after three arid years at Old Trafford (You can watch that goal here)? We'll never know, although I fancy Bobby Charlton's support in the boardroom would have proved decisive.

What I do know is that Brian Clough was spewing about losing by the only goal, a header from 20-year-old Robins, aided by a push in the back from Stuart Pearce.

Clough had a very fine team that year, stylish and resilient, and although he won the League Cup in March, he fancied a Wembley trip in May. 

He was in no mood to offer Fergie any managerial solidarity that cheerless January day. Not the occasion to ask the old boy for a post-match interview!

John Stones is a popular boy. He has been linked with pretty much every major Premier League club going in the last year and now he has admirers abroad, if the Daily Mail are to be believed.

According to the paper, the Everton centre-back is on Real Madrid's radar after he was recommended by former boss Rafa Benitez.

Madrid intend to carry the interest through although Benitez’s departure means it is unlikely to happen in January.

Worcester Warriors have signed New Zealand-born centre Jackson Willison for the 2016-17 season.

The 27-year-old is currently with French Top 14 club Grenoble.

 "Jackson is a talented athlete who will add some firepower to our midfield," said director of rugby Dean Ryan.

Barnsley have signed full-back Aidy Whiteuntil the end of the season after he was released by Rotherham United.

The 24-year-old was loaned to Barnsley in November and has made seven appearances in all competitions for the Tykes.

This week, Alan Curtis was tasked with managing Swansea for the remainder of the season. He starts that with an FA Cup third-round tie at Oxford on Sunday.

He has just had this to say to the press...

"A cup run is always nice and we want to get back on a run now, so it is important that we start that this weekend. We have to have one eye on Wednesday’s game [against Sunderland in the Premier League] so there will be changes. Whatever team we put out it will be a strong side.

“It will also enable a couple of players to have some game time in a fantastic competition. It will be a difficult game. Oxford play good football, it’s a nice stadium there - we’re very much looking forward to the challenge.”

Manchester United and England forward Wayne Rooney has picked a starting XI made up entirely of Star Wars characters. You can find a video of him doing so on the Daily Mirror website. That is all.

The season after Liverpool did the Double in Kenny Dalglish's first season, the Cup holders were taken to a second replay after two goalless draws against Luton. 

There were no penalty shootouts in 1987. So just 48 hours after the original replay at Anfield, Liverpool - clearly wishing they were anywhere else but on Luton's reviled plastic pitch - crashed out 3-0 in front of a hugely partisan home crowd because of Luton's ban on away fans.

I remember thinking post match interviews would be difficult. Not a bit of it. Liverpool players were happy to vent their fury and contempt for the surface.

Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri has been talking about new 19-year-old signing Demarai Gray from Birmingham City, who could make his debut on Sunday.

“I didn’t know Gray before our friendly with Birmingham. He played so well and we wanted him from that moment.

"He is young, he’s got good quality and he can grow a lot with us.

“He can play as a winger, he’s fast and has good skills. One-on-one he’s good. He’s perfect for us

 “He's able to play Sunday. The league's our priority but we think about the cup. I think about the players who haven’t played.” 

Now we hear from Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri ahead of Sunday's trip to White Hart Lane in the FA Cup third round.

Ranieri says Jamie Vardy will not be involved after having minor groin surgery. Midfielder Matty James has recovered from a long term injury and will be ready by the end of the month. While winger Jeffery Schlupp will also return at the end of January.

"Vardy is OK,  He’s working with the physio today and he should be ready for our next Premier League game.

"Matty James was great for the under-21. He played well and maybe he’ll be ready for us in the middle or end of January.

"Ben Chilwell stays with us because I have only Fuchs at left back and I have Schlupp as a winger.

“I think at the end of January, Schlupp will be ready."

"Newcastle boss Steve McClaren had this to say about tomorrow's FA Cup tie with Watford: 'We always want to give it a go no matter what team we play, and I think the position we are in I don't think it matters if it's a Cup game or League game tomorrow, it's an important game. 

'It's really trying to follow up that performance from last week and take it into this game and hopefully get a result. We need to gather momentum and tomorrow is an opportunity to do that. 

'I think we have one or two players who have niggles and it's a big risk, so we have to got to decide to play them or not and what the risk is. Tomorrow you can guarantee that it will be the strongest team we can possibly put out without taking a huge amount of risk.'"

"Steve McClaren was asked about speculation linking Newcastle with a move for their former striker Loic Remy. 'We can't disclose that, that's private and as I say if anything does happen with players and you can name all the individuals and we will be denying every one because nothing it happened as yet," he said. 

'We're just going to do our business like we normally do our business which is privately and not to get everybody excited or get expectations too high. It's part of the theatre. 

'The January window is a media frenzy to put names out there, as I say we'll quietly go about our business as normal.'"

Stoke City v Everton 2002.

This was memorable rather than a favourite.

The Britannia Stadium was covered in freezing fog.

Before the game I lost my footing in what was a damp press box. Before I knew it I was on my back several rows of seats below – and I hadn’t touched a drop I promise. My back and pride were hurt though.

Consolation came later when a well-known commentator, who had played up throughout the afternoon, was still stuck in the car park an hour after the game as I limped back to my car.

Steve McClaren isn't too pleased with the draw that Newcastle got in the FA Cup. 

"Watford is probably one of the toughest away game you can have" he said. "It's not going to be easy."

Guus Hiddink has played down the training ground incident between Diego Costa and Oscar and now Chelsea have posted this picture of the pair smiling and laughing on the club's Instagram.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal isn't threatened by Pep Guardiola's announcement he wants to manage in England when he leaves Bayern Munich next summer. 

The former Barcelona boss has been linked with Manchester City, Chelsea and United if he does decide to come to the Premier League, but the Dutchman was keen to point out his contract at Old Trafford runs until the summer of 2017.

Van Gaal also had a warning for Belgian winger Adnan Januzaj who returned from a loan spell at Borussia Dortmund this week - while he said he believes in Januzaj's talent the Dutchman said he is likely to play for the club's reserves on Monday night and will need to prove his quality.

As for if his own players confidence will be restored after the win over Swansea, the Dutchman says wait and see as "one swallow does not make a summer". 

Louis van Gaal on the FA Cup: "The FA Cup is very difficult to win, we saw that last year against Yeovil and Cambridge United, every match is difficult to win, that’s why Manchester United have struggled in the last few years – last year we lost to Arsenal and they were the winner."

Great Britain have missed out on a place in the final of the Hopman Cup.

Australia beat France 11-9 in a mixed doubles third set tie break after the tie had been level at 1-1 after the singles rubbers.

Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola confirmed this week that he will leave his current job at the end of the season because he wants to manage in the Premier League.  

But Louis van Gaal is not concerned: "“I’m at the end of my career so for me it’s not so interesting, for me it’s interesting you I take care of Manchester United in my contract, and I still have one year to go after this season.”

Adnan Januzaj was recalled from his season-long loan at Borussia Dortmund.

The Belgian had made just 12 appearances and three starts for the Bundesliga club.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal said: "I believe in the talent of Adnan Januzaj, it shall be very difficult to play matches in Dortmund, unfortunately I was proved right but he can better train for us and maybe show his talent in the first team.

"He has been tested already this morning and he didn’t play so much 90 minutes in the pre-season and he has to show his fitness in the second team."

Norwich boss Alex Neil will be without new signing Ivo Pinto for this weekend's FA Cup third-round tie with Manchester City but he is very happy to have him on board at Carrow Road...

"Ivo Pinto was registered in time but he won't be in the squad for tomorrow's game as he's only had one training session," said Neil. 

"Ivo has got Champions League experience and he's the perfect age at 26. He ticks all the right boxes for us."

Radamel Falcao has only started two games since joining Chelsea in the summer, and his manager is concerned about him.

Guus Hiddink has said that he is "worried about his situation.

"When I came in he was injured, and then in training he got another set-back. 

"I said to give him time and rest to recover. We’ll, see what happens, he's out of sight at this moment."

Liverpool and Everton have to negotiate “no win situations” in this FA Cup 3rd round weekend. Despite considerable injury problems, Liverpool will still be expected to beat Exeter, and Everton – who have injury problems of their own – will be fully expected to see off Dagenham and Redbridge. 

But the warnings from history are there. Reds fans may still be trying to forget Oldham in 2013, and going back further there was Bolton, Bristol City, and Burnley. Everton fans may shiver at the thought of Shrewsbury and Oldham (again!)

Jurgen Klopp will know all about the club’s FA Cup tradition, and Roberto Martinez knows what it’s like to win it. 

It’s Liverpool’s third game this week, and Everton have just dug deep to beat Manchester City in the League Cup, so it could well be an awkward weekend for both of them – and although I expect both to make it through to the fourth round, they’ll both know they’ve been in a game. 

Guus Hiddink has reiterated that he is just an interim manager, and won't carry on at Chelsea beyond the end of the season.  

“I have just two dates in my mind, 25 and 28th of May. Then I will finish and go home on 29th May", he said. "Those dates are the FA Cup and Champions League finals. I am very clear at end of this I will stop.”

Luis Suarez's two-match ban follows a scuffle in the tunnel after Barcelona beat rivals Espanyol in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday night.

The Independent (via Diario Sport) say that the referee's report states that the Uruguayan striker had some rather unsavory words to say to Papakouly Diop, for which you can head on over there to get a proper flavour.

You will, of course, remember that Suarez got himself into a bit of bother during the 2014 World Cup for biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini, for which he was banned for four months.

I'm BBC Radio Bristol's pitchside reporter, standing in the wind and rain, in the early days of radio microphones which required odd-shaped transmitters strapped to your back, together with long aerial.  Not ideal for a self-conscious twentysomething.  

Just before kick-off, a Somerset shout from the terraces.  "Eeere - mate.  Have you just landed from Maaaars?"  Cue general hilarity.  

Yeovil had their chances early on, but Rangers won 3-0 with two from Mark Falco."

You might have heard reports about a bust-up between Oscar and Diego Costa. 

Guus Hiddink has been speaking about it in his news conference. 

"It's a pity that our photographer had a day off or he could have shot beautiful pictures from the two", he said.

"They were jesting a bit after a charge from behind from the smaller of the two, Oscar. Costa took a charge from behind and it was overdone, especially when know Oscar he is not the biggest tackler of the team.

"They stumbled over the ground, stood up, as a normal reaction, they jested a bit, but we came in between them to say that there was no need to hit each other"

Hiddink said it was down to the intensity of the training session that the incident happened. "Those things happen when you're close on the edge after Oscar apologised in front of the group. He apologised for over reacting, then they looked at each other and started laughing. It was a normal battle"

Two improved performances and a much needed three points against Swansea has eased the pressure on Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal, but with injuries continuing to deplete his squad it will be interesting to see what kind of team he selects for the FA Cup tie with Sheffield United. 

With the Europa League and the Premier League to focus on, will he go all out with his best side, or rest players with Tuesday's Premier League game with Newcastle in mind? 

Adnan Januzaj's loan spell at Borussia Dortmund was cut short this week, so could he be in line to play a big part in the second half of the season?

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that Wilfried Bony and Eliaquim Mangala will not play in the FA Cup third-round tie at Norwich tomorrow because of injury. 

He also says the team will have a change of keeper, adding: "Willy Caballero will play against Norwich. It's good for Joe Hart to have a clear week to train."

It's my favourite day of the footballing calendar, even more so that I'm now involved at the hub of the BBC Radio 5 Live coverage at 3 o'clock.

I'm like a child on Christmas Eve and one of my favourite memories is the last 3rd round tie I covered, Blyth Spartans v Birmingham City.

The humble surroundings of Croft Park buzzed with excitement. It was open all areas. I spoke to the Blyth Manager Tom Wade in the laundry room 2 hours ahead of kick off with that distinctive aroma of soap powder and drying socks.

Fans dressed as Spartans posed for photos, one gentleman had even dyed his beard green!

And to cap it all....a walk to the chip shop for a pre match meal within the vicinity of the ground meant I didn't have to remove my headphones so I could still talk to the studio on the radio mic!

Gareth Bale is set to start Zinedine Zidane's first match in charge alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.

While Zidane also said Ronaldo will continue to take free-kicks.

AS have also reported that Zidane ruled out any potential transfers, saying he is happy with what he's got and he doesn't want anyone to leave.

Zinedine Zidane has been holding his news conference ahead of his first match as Real Madrid manager againstDeportivo on Saturday.

AS are reporting Zidane revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo will not be leaving Madrid.

Zidane said: "Cristiano is more than non-transferable. He is the soul of the team. He's going nowhere."  

Middlesbrough have agreed loan moves for winger Mustapha Carayol and full-back James Husband with Championship rivals Leeds United and Huddersfield Town.

Carayol will spend the rest of the season at Elland Road, while Husband will be with the Terriers until 6 February.

1999: Arsenal won the race to sign 15-year-old Jermaine Pennant from Notts County for £2m.

2015: Pennant, 32, begins a one-week trial with S.League club Tampines Rovers in Singapore.

FC Porto have sacked head coach Julen Lopetegui after a three-game winless streak. 

The 49-year-old had a contract through to 2017, but in almost two years at Porto, Portuguese champion for seven of the past 10 seasons, the team did not win a trophy.    

League One side Peterborough United have rejected three bids for forward Conor Washington, according to chairman Darragh MacAnthony.

The 23-year-old, who joined from Newport in January 2014, has scored 14 goals in 29 matches this season, 12 of which have come in the past 13 games.

But MacAnthony said on Twitter that he has rejected two bids from ex-Premier League sides and one from "a large Championship club".

Wigan Athletic have signed Macclesfield midfielder Danny Whitehead for an undisclosed fee and immediately loaned him back to the National League club.

The 22-year-old has agreed a two-and-a-half-year-deal with the Latics.

Heroic stuff from John Sheridan and his walking wounded who, rightly, have their place in Cup folklore secured!

Well Freddie Ljungberg is back at the Gunners, but in a coaching capacity.

The 38-year-old, who won two Premier League titles and three FA Cups while at Arsenal, is coaching the under-15 side.

"He wants to make his license. They have to take on a youth team and we are happy to give him that," said former boss Arsene Wenger.

This has all the makings of one of those classic FA Cup stories. Barry Richardson, Wycombe's 46-year old goalkeeping coach, will be named on the bench for their match against Aston Villa on Saturday. 

Richardson hasn't played a competitive match since 2005, but has regularly featured on the bench for Wycombe, and also for Peterborough, when he was sub keeper at Wembley for their 3-0 2011 playoff final victory.

Former Australian cricketer Ian Chappell has called on his country's cricket association to propose a worldwide contracting ban on Chris Gayle following his controversial sideline interview with Network Ten reporter Mel McLaughlin.

The 36-year-old West Indian batsman has been disciplined for "inappropriate conduct" for the incident.

"I wouldn't have a problem if Cricket Australia said to the clubs, `he's never to be contracted again in this country'," said Chappell. "And I also wouldn't have a problem if Cricket Australia said to the ICC, `what we're doing should be worldwide'.

"How are you going to stop it otherwise?"

I will never forget my visit to Exeter to cover the Grecians’ FA Cup third round replay with Manchester United in January 2005.

And after being held to a goalless draw at Old Trafford by the then non-leaguers, Sir Alex Ferguson ensured it was a day to remember for Exeter too.

For Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney played, and scored, in a game watched by a capacity 9,033 crowd.

MK Dons have re-signed Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Jake Forster-Caskeyon loan for the rest of the season.

The 21-year-old, who has appeared 82 times for Brighton, played five games on loan at Karl Robinson's Championship strugglers earlier this campaign.

The England Under-21 international is eligible for Saturday's FA Cup third-round match against Northampton Town.

Working for BBC Radio 5 Live and Match Of The Day, I’m lucky enough to attend Premier League matches every week. It is arguably the best league in the world. However, without hesitation I would name The FA Cup 3rd round as my favourite weekend of the football calendar.

The attraction is the imbalance: The professional superstars against those further down the football chain. Sometimes it’s teams made up of players who do ‘real’ jobs during the week. The prospect of elite millionaire footballers up against butchers, bakers and candlestick makers is what entices us all back every year for the 3rd round.

It’s often about redemption. Footballers who were let go as youngsters by top flight teams getting a chance to show they could have made it in the big leagues. The bounce of a ball, a gust of wind, a slice of luck… They’ll take whatever they can if it means the chance of beating one of the big boys.

Millwall have signed Wolves midfielder Jed Wallace on a one-month loan deal. 

The 21-year-old has only featured seven times since moving to Molineux from Portsmouth last summer.

We are asking you for your FA Cup third round memories, well how about the return of Paul Scholes on 8 January 2012.

The 37-year-old had retired in 2011 after winning 10 Barclays Premier League titles and had joined the club’s coaching staff.

But an injury crisis Prompted Scholes to return to the squad, which was revealed with the announcement of the United squad for their match with Manchester City at the Etihad.

The veteran came off the bench for the last half-hour of the 3-2 win over City in the FA Cup third round.

"West Brom boss Tony Pulis believes the FA Cup is being devalued this year by the scheduling of midweek Premier League and Championship matches after the third and fourth rounds.

"'I'm a traditionalist who thinks the FA Cup is the greatest cup competition in world football and it deserves a clear run, so that managers can pick their strongest sides without being concerned about a league match a few days later.'"

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger also discussed the current situation regarding the purchase of midfielder Mohamed Elneny from Basel...

"It is complicated a little bit but we will work hard on it and get to the end of it in the next few days," he said.

On other transfer news, he added: "Mathieu Debuchy has an opportunity to go but we have not been in touch with any club."

It was suggested to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger a number of times that his team have bigger targets than the FA Cup this season, but he was in no mood to bite...

"The FA Cup an important competition as always," he told reporters. "There is only one way to deal with the next game and that is to win it. We are confident because we know when we perform we can beat anyone. 

"We play at home in front of our crowd and we feel we can qualify. But Sunderland are dangerous on the break and it was a hard-fought win against them in the Premier League.

"We want to win every competition we participate in and the FA Cup is one of those.

"Everybody dreams to win the FA Cup. There might be priorities at some stage in the season but we have a big squad and re equipped to deal with all competitions.

"Being the holders - we won it twice in the last two years - and we want to do it again."

 Norwich City boss Alex Neil, on the signing of defender Ivo Pinto, said: "Ivo has had Champions League experience this season, playing against Arsenal and Bayern Munich where he did very well. "He’s a Portuguese Under-21 international and at only 26 has his best years ahead of him. He is an athletic and good defender and will bring us options at the back." 

 Norwich's new signing Ivo Pinto said:  "I'm very excited to come here and play for a big club in the Premier League. "I'm looking forward to starting work to help the team achieve their goals."

Ivo Pinto, a 26, has joined Norwich on a three-and-a-half year deal. 

The Portuguese defender joined Dinamo Zagreb in 2013 and has made over 100 appearances in all competitions to help his side to the Croatian league title in both 2014 and 2015, as well as the 2015 Croatian Cup. 

Pinto also gained Champions League experience, playing in Dinamo’s 2-1 home victory over Arsenal last year.

Next up is Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, speaking ahead of this weekend's FA Cup tie with Sunderland: "Everybody is available from last week and Mikel Arteta is back. Alexis Sanchez is a bit short to be involved in the squad but he is not far. 

"Arteta has been in and out since the start of the season and now I hope he will be a consistent presence in the team.

"Tomas Rosicky is not far off and Danny Welbeck may be three or four weeks."

Roberto Martinez says captain Phil Jagielka might be in contention on Saturday, after recovering from a knee injury.

"Phil is a real calm influence,he is somone who has been through every single situation. he is very helpful to have around. It would be a good opportunity to see him back on pitch."

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has spoken about the possibility of Republic of Ireland pair Aiden McGeady and Darren Gibson leaving the club.

"There has been a lot of interest shown in the pair, we will have to sit down and consider what the next step is. They are both working well in training, they are disappointed to not be getting many minutes and it is important that they are playing ahead of the Euros, that is something we have to look at."

Window to window we want to make the team stronger, that is the end of the matter. Roberto Martinez on team news for the FA Cup third round match: "I don't expect Seamus Coleman , Romelu Lukaku or Tom Cleverley to be available on Saturday. They are reacting well to treatment."

Roberto Martinez is in place, the news conference has started, so stand-by for updates ahead of their match with League Two side Dagenham and Redbridge.

The downside for Everton's memorable victory over Manchester City in the League Cup semi-final midweek was the number of injuries to key players.

Seamus Coleman is out for three to four weeks with a calf injury. Tom Cleverley aggravated an achilles problem and Romelu Lukaku suffered an ankle injury.

Coleman's injury is problematic for Roberto Martinez as he has little obvious cover at right-back at the moment.

The candidates include John Stones, Aaron Lennon, youngster Matthew Pennington, or perhaps even Leighton Baines.

There's likely to be quite a few changes to the starting line up tomorrow, given Everton's hectic January schedule, though Joel Robles is set to continue in goal.

Alan Curtis will be a happy man this Friday.

Swansea City have announced the caretaker boss will remain in charge for the rest of the season.

The 61-year-old took charge after Garry Monk was sacked and led the team to one win, two draws and two defeats in five games, including three clean sheets.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has been talking about new loan signing Juan Iturbe.

The 22-year-old Argentine has signed from Serie A side Roma until the end of the season, but will not be making his debut on Saturday, due to work permit issues.

Howe said: "It's exciting to have a player like Iturbe. We are doing all we can to help him settle & we have an interpreter.

"There is no update on Iturbe's work permit, it is ongoing. We hope to have an outcome by next week, maybe Tuesday.

 "Any new signing needs time to fit in. There is no pressure on Juan or anyone we sign to change our season."

We will be hearing from A LOT of managers today ahead of the FA Cup third round (there are 64 teams involved).

First up is Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe, who takes his side to St Andrew's on Saturday.

 "We will make changes for Birmingham, we have rotated in previous seasons and have had success with that format too

"We want to win, make no mistake about that. Winning is a habit and we want to go to Birmingham to win."

Michel Platini has announced he will not stand in the Fifa presidential election next month.

Platini, along with Fifa president Sepp Blatter, has been banned from football-related activities for eight years by world football's governing body.

Both men were found guilty of breaches surrounding a £1.3m ($2m) "disloyal payment" made to Platini in 2011.

They are appealing against their bans, but Platini says the timing of the 26 February election means he cannot run.

The 60-year-old said: "I don't have the means to fight on equal terms with the other candidates

"I have not been given the chance to play the game. Bye bye Fifa, bye bye Fifa presidency."

Gabon and Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyangwon the vote ahead of Manchester City's Yaya Toure.

Aubameyang is the first player from his country to win the award.  

The 26-year-old is the Bundesliga's leading scorer so far this season, with 18 goals in 17 league games.

To tennis now and on a sweltering day in Perth, where temperatures reached 36C (weather we can only dream about here on Sportsday) Britain's Andy Murray and Heather Watson teamed up to beat Germany 3-0 in the Hopman Cup.

First Watson beat Sabine Lisicki 6-3 6-4 before Murray overcame Alexander Zverev 6-3 6-4.

The pair then teamed up for a 6-3 6-4 win in the mixed doubles.

But Britain need France to beat Australia Green in the last group game to reach Saturday's final.

5 live Sport have tried to do an FA Cup preview show without any of the usual cliches.

That is the big question surrounding Diego Costa and Oscar's training-ground fracas at Chelsea's Cobham training centre.

The Telegraph say the two player had to be separated following an "outrageous" challenge from Brazilian midfielder Oscar.

But Oscar took to Twitter to deny the story and insist they are "best of friends."

The Sun call it a "dust-up". as the pair had to be separated after a "furious training ground ruck," which left teammates "stunned."

Today is the day the FA Cup starts in earnest.

Back in August, 736 teams began their quest to reach Wembley.

Now just 64 teams are left and this weekend sees the Premier League and Championship sides enter the fray.

We will bring you all the build-up right here, as well as hopefully hearing from Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink on some rumoured training 'fisticuffs' between Oscar and Diego Costa.
