  1. Post update

Right then. Six hours of typing is starting to take its toll so time to rest my crooked fingers.

For League Cup final coverage head here and I'll see you later.

  2. Player reaction

    Man Utd 3-2 Arsenal

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech: "It is a step back in the title race. We need to make sure we bounce back in the next game. It is a big week for us with Tottenham on Saturday and Swansea in midweek.

"We should have done better, we knew it would be difficult but we did not create enough to score more goals and made mistakes on the other side to concede three.

"We need to make sure every time Leicester and Tottenham slip we are ready to take the advantage."

  3. League Cup final well under way

It is almost time to wrap things up here, we'll have further reaction online later today but for now it is worth heading here to follow Tom Rostance's live text commentary on the League Cup final between Liverpool and Manchester City. You can also listen to commentary on BBC Radio 5 live.

Osama: Rashford and the kids deserves the accolades but the seniors have been immense in the past 72 hours cue Blind, Hererra, Memphis

Tunji Johnson: If you can't beat Bayern, Chelsea, Barca or Man UTD. You are never a top coach. Time 2 go Monsieur Wenger.

  5. Rashford 'a special talent'

    Man Utd 3-2 Arsenal

After Marcus Rashford scored twice, Louis van Gaal said he is not surprised that the club's young players are coming in and impressing.

"That is why we have a small selection because then you can give youngsters a chance. A big selection means they don't get a chance," he said.

"The experience of mine is youngsters always play well the first match. The second match is different. Marcus played well in both matches so he is a special talent."

Asked about memorable debuts, Van Gaal added: "I can imagine a lot of them. Patrick Kluivert makes the winning goal [for Ajax] in the Super Cup in the Netherlands. Xavi, fantastic against I think Valladolid [for Barcelona] and also Thomas Muller a fantastic debut. He was playing in the second team [for Bayern Munich]."

Chris Fleming: The title will go to the last day. United will do well to get 5th with their net spend of 200 million

Matthew Shaw: When will Leicester finally be considered the favourites for the title? The day they win it?

  7. Manager reaction

    Man Utd 3-2 Arsenal

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal, speaking to BBC Sport: "The performance and the result [was pleasing], when you are playing against one of the best Premier League teams and can play with such ambition and performance.

"We played very high in the first half, that is risky against a team like Arsenal but we changed things in the second half and were very compact."

  8. Manager reaction

    Man Utd 3-2 Arsenal

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, speaking to BBC Sport: "We played with a lot of intensity, I cannot fault our commitment and spirit and desire but I feel we conceded too easy goals.

"I think after the game we have to be positive and prepare for the next one. We have another game on Wednesday, they come thick and fast and you want to keep a good mentality.

"We did fight until the end, we had a lot of the ball but I think we could avoid the goals with better concentration.

"I am disappointed because we lost the game but we will focus on the next one. This is a fight where you go to the next one and aim to come back even stronger."

Natala Natala, Arsenal fan: We're so naive! There goes our title hopes for another decade. We lost fairly, no complaints. @LCFC am behind U now.

Rob McConkey: Worst Arsenal performance since that 8-2. Utterly appalled. Feel sorry for all the fans

Hary: That was more like UTD under SAF. Looks like Rashford isn't a one game wonder and this is coming from a Chelsea fan.

  10. Oscar-winning performance

    Man Utd 3-2 Arsenal

    Man Utd

I don't think I'll ever tire of finding different angles of Louis van Gaal's dive.

Is there enough time to get him nominated for a best-performance Oscar?

Jack Elliott: Who is Wenger going to blame for that defeat? Which player was tapped up before kick off?

Ashic Mahtab: People saying Rashford has shades of Welbeck are wrong. Latter looked a confused kid running at United. Rashford more clinical.

Bibhash Dash: My list of MOTM nominees for today's #MUNARS : Rashford, Rashford, LVG's dive.

  14. Post update

    Man Utd 3-2 Arsenal

What does that result mean for the Premier League table?

Well, Arsenal remain five points adrift of league leaders Leicester while Manchester United are into fifth, just three points behind Manchester City in fourth.

Dave Jones: Anyone who thinks that #Arsenal team are going to win anything is delusional. Complete lack of commitment and desire.

Andrew Priestley: And that boys and girls is why Arsenal won't win the PL title. They had to be beating that young, inexperienced Man Utd side.

  16. FULL-TIME

    Man Utd 3-2 Arsenal

All over and a memorable Manchester United-Arsenal game.

A fist pump from Sir Alex Ferguson, who looks to be belting out a rendition of "glory, glory Man Utd".

A great day for the hosts, but disastrous for Arsenal. A hammer blow to their title hopes.

  17. SUBSTITUTION

    Man Utd 3-2 Arsenal

Guillermo Varela hammers a clearance from his box away before Ander Hererra is replaced by yet another debutant - midfielder James Weir, captain of the club's under-21 team, comes on.

    Time is ticking away.

  18. YELLOW CARD

    Man Utd 3-2 Arsenal

Crouch mode enabled for Arsene Wenger. Serious business now.

Adnan Januzaj is booked for a foul on Laurent Koscielny in the Arsenal half and every outfield Gunners' player charges up the pitch.

  19. Post update

    Man Utd 3-2 Arsenal

FIVE minutes of injury time for Manchester United to hold on, or for Arsenal to find a winner...

  20. Post update

    Man Utd 3-2 Arsenal

Juan Mata tries to keep the ball in the corner, Arsenal recover the ball but Timothy Fosu-Mensah wins it back and sends Adnan Januzaj away down the left. He passes to Mata, who pulls off an array of tricks and flicks, much to the delight of the home fans. They are getting a season's worth of entertainment bottled up into one half.
