Three men have been arrested after allegedly making their way into the country by stowing away under a lorry.

The men, two aged 33, and a 27-year-old, were found walking along the hard shoulder of the M6 motorway, near junction eight, outside Walsall.

A motorist reported seeing three men fall from underneath a lorry before making their way to the central reservation, police said.

The men have been arrested on suspicion of immigration offences.

Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG) said the men were in custody and the UK Border Force had taken on the investigation.

Sgt Ian Williams, from CMPG, said the men, thought to be from Africa, "may have hidden on a lorry travelling from Calais".
