The Big Picture: BBC sign comes down

The famous letters on the side of BBC Television Centre were removed on Saturday as the corporation formally handed over the building to developers. The BBC sold its former west London headquarters for £200m in 2012 as part of its money saving plan, although it will continue to lease some studios and offices. Developer Stanhope plans to build 950 homes on the site, along with offices, restaurants and shops.
