iTunes' Ones to Watch for summer 2014

iTunes UK and Ireland have released the list of artists they think are worth keeping an eye on this summer.

There are 14 in all. Here they are in no particular order:

Becky Hill was a semi-finalist on the first series of The Voice. She already has a Number One single under her belt. Gecko topped The Official Singles Chart in June.

New Orleans born singer-songwriter Benjamin Booker is preparing to release his self-titled debut album next month. His record company says he's like "a well-mixed musical cocktail of punk, folk, and New Orleans blues".

Bishop Nehru is originally from New York. The rapper and producer's SoundCloud page describes him as "a teen just making music". He also directs and edits music videos.

Electronic duo Bob Moses, aka Jimmy Valance and Tom Howie are based in New York. Although they went to the same high school, they said in a recent interview "we never hung out".

Siblings Georgia and Caleb Nott make up this pop duo. The New Zealanders have been performing together since they were kinds, but formed Broods in early 2013.

This Bristol-born five-piece say they refused to sign to major record companies, instead choosing the "independent path". They say they've built up their following by "non-stop touring".

Having already performed at Longitude this year, Hozier has also announced he'll be performing at next month's Electric Picnic in Stradbally. Born in Bray, Co. Wicklow in Ireland, his full name is Andrew Hozier-Byrne.

"Jungle are based around a core musical duo of lifelong friends known simply as J and T," according to the official description by their record label. However the pair have expanded into a seven-piece soul band.

With a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording under his belt, it's perhaps no surprise MNEK is among the Ones to Watch. Real name Uzoechi Osisioma Emenike, the British born singer-songwriter and producer also featured on Rudimental's single Spoons.

Nothing But Thieves say they create music "entirely on their own terms" without interference from record executives. Formed in Southend, Essex, the old school friends say both Foo Fighters and Ray Charles have been big inspirations.

"The prospect of other human beings, whether a small or large amount, hearing something you've created and put your heart into is a really big deal", says Rae. She's currently touring the UK and Germany having already been on the road with Bombay Bicycle Club and Tom Odell. Her track Don't Go was chosen to close the final ever episode of UK TV show Skins.

The two piece band from Brighton have a sound "rooted in modern garage rock and blues rock" according to critics. They came to the fore through support from BBC Introducing and Radio 1 and appeared at Glastonbury this year.
