The Family Healthcare Centre (FHC) in Gorleston is merging with the Central Surgery and moving into its buildings to take advantage of its newer facilities.

The new surgery will be called the Central Health Centre. FHC, based at East Anglian Way, had been found to require improvement by the Care Quality Commission in a report published at the end of last year.

Both practices will operate from Central Surgery’s existing building at Sussex Road from 6 June, with all staff moving to the site. The building currently housing the FHC, in East Anglian Way, will be returned to its owners.

BBC Radio Norfolk's Norwich City commentator Chris Goreham gives his assessment of chief executive David McNally's resignation today.

I understand David McNally's resignation came as a total surprise to the Norwich City board.

The mood at Carrow Road is that it is "business as usual" and that the club has to concentrate on Wednesday's crucial home game against Watford.

Plans to build 120 more homes at Hunstanton have been approved by councillors in West Norfolk.

The houses will be built east of Cromer Road by the Le Strange Estate and developer Pigeon Hunstanton 2. It's the second large estate for the town to be given the go-ahead.

The developers will have to pay Norfolk County Council nearly £340,000 to extend Hunstanton Primary School, which currently has only four spare places.

Plans for a new Lidl supermarket next to the A149 at Heacham won't be ruled on for at least another month.

King's Lynn and West Norfolk council's planning committee is worried about the impact of traffic on the main road and fear that queues will worsen.

It decided to defer its decision so a representative from Norfolk County Council's highways department could attend a future meeting.

Swardeston's Joe Gatting achieved one of cricket's great feats over the weekend, smashing six sixes off one over. 

The former Sussex and Hampshire player scored a maximum in the final over of their innings against Ramsey in the ECB National Club Championship on his way to scoring an unbeaten 160 off 95 balls.

North Norfolk Liberal Democrat MP Norman Lamb (pictured) said he hopes the government is "serious" over talks about the junior doctors' contract dispute in England.

Five days of talks between the British Medical Association (BMA) and the health secretary Jeremy Hunt are due to begin this morning.

The BMA says it will restart talks with an open mind, while the government has said talks need to focus on outstanding contractual issues such as unsocial hours and Saturday pay. Former Health Minister Mr Lamb says the dispute is damaging for the NHS.

A whole host of other positions on the council have been announced following the election of Cliff Jordan as the new Conservative leader of the county.

At County Hall today, Conservative councillor Alison Thomas, of Long Stratton, was elected as deputy leader of the council.

Mr Jordan will also be chairman of the policy and resources committee, while former Tory leader of the administration Bill Borrett will be chairman of the adult social care committee and Roger Smith will chair the children's services committee.

When David McNally arrived at Carrow Road in the summer of 2009, Norwich were in a mess.

Relegated to League One and with big debts, things looked pretty bleak. The Canaries were a pushover but McNally changed that the moment he walked through the door.

His tough, no-nonsense approach changed the club from top to bottom, ruffling a few feathers along the way.

Not all Norwich fans saw eye-to-eye with McNally but most will agree that he made quite an impact in his seven years at Carrow Road.

The Canaries have failed to score in their last four matches and need to win their next two games against Watford and Everton, and hope rivals Sunderland and Newcastle slip up, if they are to stand a hope of playing top-flight football next year.

The bookies don't rate their chances, however - making them odds-on favourites to accompany Aston Villa into the Championship.
