OAP attacked in Pontefract park flower row
An 83-year-old woman has been assaulted in a park in Pontefract following a disagreement about picking flowers.
The attack took place at about 15:18 on Friday 15 April as the elderly victim was walking her dog by the lake.
Her friend challenged the female suspect about picking some flowers. The suspect became verbally abusive and made threats to throw the victim's dog in the lake.
The victim bent down to pick her dog up when the suspect assaulted and injured the elderly woman.

Terrie Kirby, 16, Alexandra Binns, 18, Ryan Beal, 20, and Brandon Brown, 20, (pictured) died in the crash on the A6201 between Upton and Hemsworth in September.
The five people are charged with encouraging and assisting in the commission of a dangerous driving offence.
They will appear in court on 3 May.
Ten people previously charged in connection with the crash are also due to appear at Wakefield Magistrates' Court on 3 May.

Otley pensioner killed as car and bin lorry collide

A 70-year-old man from Otley has died after his car was involved in a crash with a bin lorry in North Yorkshire.
It happened at about 09:00 this morning on the road between Blubberhouses and Greenhow Hill, near Harrogate.
The man from Otley died at the scene. The driver of the lorry and its passenger - both in their 20s - were airlifted to hospital.
Police want to speak to the driver of a blue Mini who stopped to help at the scene but left before emergency services arrived.

Care workers in court accused of neglect at Bradford care home

A jury has heard allegations that an elderly resident in a Bradford care home was left to live in "abject squalor and filth."
The then manager of the Highdell nursing home - Steven Pelkowski - and seven members of his staff have gone on trial accused of the wilful neglect of 79-year-old widower Edward Hinnells.
Prosecutor Steven Woods said Mr Hinnels could demonstrate "challenging and difficult behaviour" but "that could never justify the conditions he was allowed to live for 11 months".

I've been out to speak to two junior doctors who've launched a sit-in outside the Department of Health in Leeds, with a chair set aside for talks with Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt.

Eye surgeon Polly Dickerson, from York, and chest doctor Chris Marshall, from West Yorkshire, say they're giving up their recovery time from long shifts to hold the protest.
Ministers have said the changes, which will see doctors paid less for working weekends while basic pay is increased, are needed to improve care at weekends.
Polly tells me: "We'll stay until Mr Hunt agrees to have meaningful discussions with junior doctors and the British Medical Association."
Halifax's MP Holly Lynch says it's "disappointing" vital funds to help Yorkshire get back on its feet after this winter's floods have still not arrived from the EU as the government's not submitted final application papers.

Tour de Yorkshire trophy comes to Otley
Otley residents will be able to get a piece of the Tour de Yorkshire action when the official trophy tours the town later this week.
The Tour de Yorkshire trophy will make a whistle-stop tour around Otley on Friday 22 April.
The town will host the start of stage two of the men’s race, as well as the first ever women's race, both on Saturday 30 April.

Four men and a woman have been charged in connection with a crash between a quad bike and a car which killed four people from West Yorkshire.
