  1. Toodle pip for now

We're done for the day now but if you've just arrived on Music News LIVE then, fear not, you can still scroll down and catch up with news about Lionel Richie, Lily Allen's first outing as a label boss and Alanis Morissette suing her former manager.

We''ll leave you with this lovely pic of singer Josh Groban immortalised in pizza by British food artist Nathan Wyburn.

We'll steer clear of cheap gags like, 'Say, he looks good enough to eat', or 'We'll take a pizza that action'.

    That would be so cheesy.

    Boom.

  2. NHS choir to perform with Tinie at FA Cup Final

    Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Choir

Yesterday we told you Tinie Tempah will be performing at this weekend's FA Cup Final at Wembley, and today the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Choir have been added to the line-up.

The choir - who famously beat Justin Bieber to Christmas number one - will perform pre-kick off hymn Abide With Me ahead of Saturday's match between Manchester United and Crystal Palace.

Members of the choir will also be collaborating on a top secret performance with Tinie.

The choir's coordinator Caroline Smith, a child physiotherapist, said they were "thrilled to be performing such an emotional song at such a prestigious event."

She said: “Abide With Me really stirs the crowd, not only in the stadium of course but the millions watching on TV around the world. It’s been linked to the F.A Cup Final for many years and we follow a list of very talented people who have been given this rare privilege”.

Meanwhile Tinie's been down to Wembley to check out the grounds ahead of the show:

Johnson - who recently stopped touring the the band due to his worsening hearing problems - also sings on another track.

Breuer said: "To me, Brian is the most powerful voice in rock and roll. He is also the funniest and most generous man I have ever known."

  7. Glastonbury through the decades on BBC News

Behind-the-scenes at Glastonbury, BBC News, Michael Eavis

From John Craven's 1971 report into drugs at the second ever Glastonbury to the biblical floods of 2005, the famous British festival's goings on have often proved newsworthy.

BBC Music has been taking a fresh look at Glastonbury through the eyes of BBC News reports through the ages, and it is well worth dipping into over lunch.

Our favourite moments include festival boss Michael Eavis in the early 1980s, 1970s police monitoring the festival from behind bushes with binoculars and our very own reporter Kev Geoghegan's dispatch from a very wet and very muddy, flooded Worthy Farm.

  8. Can Mariah Carey say three nice things about Nicki Minaj?

On Tuesday's Music News LIVE, we told you about Mariah Carey's new E! show, Mariah's World.

She's "just like anybody else" remember?

Well, we just can't get enough of her, particularly when she is in in diva mode.

Here she is reacting to being asked whether she could say anything nice about rapper, and fellow diva, Nicki Minaj.

You can watch videos of their performances of Nothing's Wrong and Give Me Just A Little of Your Love on the NME website, as well their Prince tribute - a cover of his track I would Die 4 U.

Back in March they posted a short video from the studio promising fans "new songs" and a "new show" this summer.

  12. Ellie Goulding admits using therapy for crippling panic attacks

    Ellie Goulding

Brit award-winner and Grammy-nominee Ellie Goulding has opened up about her struggle with panic attacks earlier in her career.

She has spoken to Flare magazine about using cognitive behavioural therapy to help her conquer her attacks.

"I was sceptical at first because I’d never had therapy, but not being able to leave the house was so debilitating," she explained.

"My surroundings would trigger a panic attack, so I couldn’t go to the studio unless I was lying down in the car with a pillow over my face."

Ellie adds that since her treatment, "my body has become quite good at controlling anxiety".

Here is Newsbeat's guide to understanding anxiety and panic attacks.

  13. Brix Smith-Start reminisces about joining The Fall

    BBC Radio 4

    Brix Smith-Smith

From joining British post-punk band The Fall to her marriages to frontman Mark E Smith and violinist Nigel Kennedy, being in the band Hole for just one day and studying with writers like Brett Easton-Ellis, it's fair to say musician-turned-TV presenter Brix Smith-Start has plenty of stories.

She was a guest on yesterday's Woman's Hour on Radio 4 to discuss her new memoir The Rise, The Fall and The Rise.

She remembered first discovering The Fall as a young musician in the US:

Quote Message: One night we were in a record store poring through the import bins and there was a record from The Fall.... We got it, I put it on and I was totally and utterly transfixed, I was hypnotised. I couldn't understand Mark's lyrics but I knew they were important.
Quote Message: I really believe in fate and I really follow my gut instincts and two weeks after getting the record, which was never off my turntable, we saw that The Fall were playing in Chicago, so off we went to the show. And I went downstairs after the show and ran smack into Mark who was the lead singer. from Brix Smith-Start

The rest as they say is history, but six weeks later Brix was on a plane to rainy Manchester (first impressions - "grim") to join The Fall as guitarist and marry Mark E Smith at a low key wedding (complete with pub sausage rolls and salt and vinegar crisps).

Listen to what happened next on the Woman's Hour website.

  14. Iggy Pop shows 'em how it's done on Later... with Jools Holland

He's been performing now for more than 50 years but Stooges frontman Iggy Pop can still teach young singers thing or two about stagecraft.

Iggy was backed up by musicians including Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme and Arctic Monkey's Matt Helders on drums as he peformed Sunday from his 17th album Post Pop Depression and his classic Lust for Life on Later... with Jools Holland.

  15. Alanis Morissette sues manager for fraud

    Alanis Morissette

Pop star Alanis Morissette says she was robbed of almost $5m (£3.5m) by her former business manager.

In papers filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, the singer claims Jonathan Schwartz transferred money to his own accounts without permission.

"Morissette was completely unaware of these cash transfers and had not authorised them," the complaint says.

The singer, whose hits include Ironic and You Oughta Know, is suing for breach of duty, fraud and negligence.

  16. OneRepublic release Wherever I Go video

After debuting new single Wherever I Go on Grimmy's Radio 1 breakfast show on Friday, OneRepublic have just released the video, featuring actor Kenneth Choi showing off some pretty fancy footwork.

It's the first track from their upcoming fourth album, and frontman Ryan Tedder told Wonderland Magazine the video is "a bit of a mad kind of unicorn."

"It’s so bizarre," he admitted, "For a lot of the videos we’ve done, I’ve come up with the treatments, and I wondered if people would think this one was a bit crazy, but they went for it!

"You’re going to think 'How the hell did this song create that visual in his head?’"

And it seems getting a famous actor in is a bit of a trend for this week's new videos... as Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have just released Dance Off, featuring Idris Elba. We'd love to share it but it's way too sweary - so you'll have to watch it on YouTube.

  18. The success of Coldplay by numbers

    Coldplay

Ever wondered how much Coldplay's Super Bowl headline set was actually worth? Or what it costs to be the band's biggest fan?

Maths and music collided on Radio 1 on Tuesday night, the first of a new 12-part series exploring the music industry by numbers.

Clara Amfo and mathematician Dr Hannah Fry looked into the sums involved in Coldplay's career and how their success adds up.

They spoke to the people behind the band's journey with plenty of music as well as looking at the cold hard stats.

Listen to the programme on the iPlayer - next week's subject will be Aussie rapper Iggy Azalea.

  19. Sir Elton John criticises North Carolina LGBT law

    Sir Elton John

New laws in North Carolina  - which have been widely viewed as suppressing LGBT rights - have been much criticised in the music community.

The laws, which will require people to use public toilets that correspond to the sex listed on their birth certificate, have seen artists like Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen and Bryan Adams cancel gigs in the US state.

Now Sir Elton John has written a piece for The Hill calling the laws "ignorant" and "hateful" and criticising North Carolina Governer Pat McCrory for signing the bill "after admitting he had never met a transgender person".

Quote Message: The message he sent was clear: the actual experiences of transgender people have no place in a debate over their basic rights. It’s a message we hear far too often. This brand of ignorance deliberately shuts out the perspective of an already marginalized community. It’s dangerous, and it goes beyond bathrooms. As the father of two children, I would hope their world is free of discriminatory, hateful legislation like North Carolina’s.
  20. Meghan Trainor's quarter-life crisis

    Mark Savage

    Music reporter

    Meghan Trainor

A couple of weeks ago, I sat down for a chat with the pop force of nature that is Meghan Trainor.

Sipping sparkling water in a plush London hotel, she talked frankly about body image, duetting with her mum and making her hairdresser cry.

But she also confessed to having a major crisis after a vocal cord haemorrhage last year, which forced her to cancel a string of concerts to have surgery.

"For the first four weeks after the operation you can’t speak," she told me. "I had a quarter-life crisis. I was so depressed. And I have never suffered with depression before.

"I went to my mum and I typed out – because I couldn’t talk – 'I’m sad and I know I don’t have an excuse. There’s a hole right here and I don’t know how to fill it.’

    "So I bought a puppy."

I'm not sure they prescribe puppies on the NHS - but maybe they should as, one year on, Trainor is an ebullient, self-possessed 22-year-old, who seems fully in charge of her destiny.
