‘It took 25 years for me to get a diagnosis’

Many children in care are already extremely vulnerable and now a group of MPs says they are falling through the cracks when it comes to their mental health too.

The education select committee found that almost half of children who are looked after by local authorities or in foster care have a diagnosable mental health disorder, with kids in care four times more likely than their peers to have a mental health condition.

We spoke to Daniel Harris, who spent time in care and has recently been diagnosed with bipolar and PTSD, as well as Paul Jenkins, the Vice-Chair of the Cavendish Square Group and Natasha Devon who advises the government on young people's mental health.
