  1. Goodbye: Our live coverage across the day

    Andrew Barton

    BBC Local Live, York

That's the end of our live service for today.

I'll be back from 07:00 on Thursday with more news, sport, travel and weather updates from around the county.

I'll leave you with a collection of images from today's stories.

Sam spotted the "For the Fallen" train at York Railway Station; we heard about the hoped for traffic improvements during the three-day races at York's Knavesmire and the early release of York City strikers, Jake Hyde and Vadaine Oliver.

We also enjoyed more great BBC Weather Watchers pics, this one by RogerLitton is of Bluebells in Harrogate.

    See you tomorrow.

  2. Listen: Fans' favourite Parslow says York players need to 'buy into what's at stake'

    Georgey Spanswick

    Presenter, BBC Radio York

You can't get away from how disappointing this season has been for anyone connected with York City, who finished bottom of League Two and who've been relegated from the Football League.

A little earlier, I spoke to former City player - and fans' favourite - Daniel Parslow.

He was released by York last summer, and spent the last season playing for Cheltenham, in the National League - which Cheltenham won by a mile.

Ironically, Cheltenham will now take York City's place in League Two.

Parslow told me what advice he'd give to City manager Jackie McNamara on turning things around:

  3. Convicted rapist wanted by police after breaching court order

    BBC Radio York

North Yorkshire Police have released more information about a convicted rapist from York who's on the run after breaching a court order.

Barry Gibson, 55, was last seen at a taxi rank near York Minster on 5 May.

He was wearing dark trousers and a jacket which is red on the top half and a dark colour on the bottom half. He was carrying a JD Sports bag over his shoulder.

Members of the public are being asked not to approach Gibson if they see him, and to call 999 immediately.

  6. North Yorkshire weather update: Brightening with sunny spells this afternoon

    Kay Crewdson

    Weather presenter, BBC Look North

It'll continue to brighten this afternoon with cloud thinning and lifting, breaking in some parts for spells of sunshine.

Most parts will stay dry, however there is a small chance of a shower.

Feeling warm in shelter, but cooler near the coast with an onshore breeze. Top temperature will be about 19C (66F).

  8. BBC Weather Watchers: Searching for the light in the gloom

    BBC Weather Watchers

On a day that's taken a while to brighten up in North Yorkshire, some of our BBC Weather Watchers have spotted a bit of space and colour.

Thanks for the pic of the hazy sunshine above Kirby Sigston go to Marianne (I wonder if she was waiting for the blackbird to fly into view or if that was a happy unintentional addition?) and to Gary Gimmick, for the amazing profusion of Bluebells below York's city walls.

  9. Traffic and Travel update: Road blocked at Sutton-under-Whitestonecliffe

    BBC Travel

We're getting reports that the A170 in Sutton-under-Whitestonecliffe is partially blocked.

The road is just passable and there is slow traffic, eastbound, between Sutton Bank and the High Town Bank Road junction, because of a broken down lorry.

  10. Yorkshire all-rounder Willey takes bowling break with abdominal injury

Yorkshire all-rounder David Willey has been told not to bowl for six weeks because of an abdominal injury.

However, the 26-year-old could still bat in the White Rose county's current Championship game against Surrey if required to do so.

The injury means Willey could be unavailable for some of England's one-day international series against Sri Lanka next month.

  11. 'Essential' cable work on Lendal Bridge after city centre power cut

Part of Lendal Bridge in York is due to be closed to pedestrians later as "essential" work is carried out on a damaged electrical cable which caused a power cut in the city last week.

    Lendal Bridge

The power cut, on Friday afternoon, hit about 476 residents and businesses.

The work is expected to start at about 18:00 this evening and it's thought it'll take about three days to complete but won't affect motorists using the bridge, according to Northern Powergird.

Steve Hampshire, from Northern Powergrid, says: "Pedestrians will be able to safely use the other side of the bridge to cross the river and temporary pedestrian signs will be in place to guide them."

  12. York Racecourse spends thousands trying to ease race day traffic

    Joanita Musisi

    Reporter, BBC Radio York

York racecourse is spending thousands of pounds on trying to deal with traffic in the streets around the site.

A new company which specialises in car park management starts work today as the three-day Dante Festival gets under way.

This morning, I spoke to the chief executive of the course, William Derby, and I asked him why it's taken so long to get experts involved in sorting out the race day traffic problems.

  19. Yorkshire cricket: Sunshine needed to avoid Yorkshire being stumped

    BBC Sport

Yorkshire need some help from the weather gods today if they're to produce a positive result against Surrey at Headingley.

Day three was ruined yesterday by the rain, which meant only an hour's play was possible.

    Yorkshire's Andrew Gale

Having drawn their opening three matches, Yorkshire still have a chance of victory if the weather improves today.
