  1. Goodbye

So, after another fine win for England, that's it from us. Do be sure to join us again next Thursday morning for live coverage of the third Test. Until then, goodbye.

  2. More cricket

If your appetite for cricket hasn't been sated by this match, don't worry - there's plenty more to come across the BBC.

There are some very exciting finishes going on in the County Championship right now - you can follow live text and radio commentary in our live page here.

You can also listen to the Tuffers and Vaughan Show at 21:00 BST on Radio 5 live this evening. And on Wednesday night, 5 live will have a special programme in which retired England cricketer James Taylor meets Fabrice Muamba, the footballer with the same heart condition as him.

  3. Coach's view

More from England coach Trevor Bayliss on Sky Sports: "It was an eight of ten performance. We've got to work on our bowling on flattish wickets, and I'd like to see our batters turn starts into bigger scores. We're still a work in progress.

[On Steven Finn] "I think it's most confidence and rhythm. I thought he was our best pace bowler in South Africa - whenever you have four months off it's going to be hard to get back into it.

"James Vince looks the part to me. He's the whole package when it comes to batting and he's got a good level head on his shoulder. He'll give himself the best chance to succeed. Woakesy bowls well and bats well, his test will come on flatter types of wicket. He's young enough and skilful enough to make it work.

[On whether Jake Ball will play in the third Test] "We'll consider all options - I'd be interested in having a look at Bally if possible, but if not, his time will come."

  4. Coach's view

    BBC Test Match Special

Trevor Bayliss, England coach, on TMS: "Any time you can win two Tests in a row and win a series, wrapping it up after two matches, is a fantastic effort by the boys.

"Cook is a phenomenal batsman. His powers of concentration are fantastic."

  5. Coach's view

    BBC Test Match Special

Trevor Bayliss, England coach, on TMS: "The wicket flattened out and the Sri Lankans showed some of the fight that they're quite capable of. They've got some very good players in their team. Yes, they've got some young players but we certainly can't take it for granted in the third match."

Dave Wood: Interesting that Compton has kept his place. Last chance saloon? Wouldn't be surprised to see Vince at 3 for the Pakistan series.

  7. Man of the match

More from James Anderson: "It's been difficult to find swing, but the pitch offered a little bit in the first innings. It got flatter as it went on, so more difficult to get wickets here than at Headingley.

"You have to make the most of it when you are in rhythm, but when you're not it can feel like a struggle. Eventually it will click, so someone like Steven Finn has to persevere.

"We make the most of the good times but, when things aren't going your way, the rest of the squad has to support you."

  8. Man of the match

England bowler James Anderson is named man of the match for taking 5-58 and eight wickets in the match.

He says: "It's been an up and down journey over the past 10 years.

"It's a fantastic achievement by Alastair. He's a frustrating guy to bowl to in the nets, so I know what opposition bowlers go through.

"Wickets are wickets, it doesn't matter what pitch you play on. I am surprised to be here, I thought Moeen Ali's knock was a match-winning one.

  9. England name unchanged squad for Lord's

  10. Captain's view

More from Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews: "Broad and Anderson are world-class bowlers and you've got to show a lot of skill to handle them. We are not looking at too many changes, it's just the Sri Lankan fight that we've lost in the past couple of weeks and we're looking to bring back. There were lots of positives in the last couple of days, Chandimal and Herath showed a lot of character."

  11. Captain's view

Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews: "Let me first congratulate three fantastic players: Alastair Cook for his 10,000 Test runs, Rangana Herath for his 30th wicket and James Anderson for his 450th wicket.

"It's been a tough couple of weeks for us. We didn't bat well in the first innings but we showed a lot of resilience in the second innings. We had a brilliant first day but we let Moeen Ali and Chris Woakes off early on in the day, and our batting was a poor effort."

Ayelet H Lushkov: Is it in fact the case that if England win at Lord's, they'll have won the series, and the short format won't matter?

They're now 8-0 up in the "Super Series" - a win at Lord's would put them 12-0 up with 12 more points available from five ODIs and a Twenty20 international.

  13. Cook on 10,000 runs

    BBC Test Match Special

Alastair Cook, England captain, on TMS: "Once you get within five, you think you're going to do it. For the people who haven't got it, for me to get it makes it even more special. It's ironic that it was a clip off my legs. It was a great moment for me. It's certainly driven me personally. To score 10,000 runs was one of those goals."

  14. Cook on 10,000 runs

    BBC Test Match Special

Alastair Cook, England captain, on TMS: "You forget about all the hard times you have as a cricketer. Test cricket can expose you horrendously, it's a very tough game against the best players in the world. It's those seven o'clock nets with Goochie, the hard yards away from today that you put in to get here."

  15. Captain's view

    BBC Test Match Special

More from England captain Alastair Cook on TMS: "It's hard for the Sri Lankan batters in one sense, but they are very good players, and most of the time on flat wickets you have to work very hard against them. I've just been speaking to the selectors and we're gong to have the same 12 for Lord's."

  16. Captain's view

England captain Alastair Cook: "It's a very special moment for me, but the game is not about personal milestones, it's about winning games and scoring runs to do that. But it's a real special day and it's great that my family are here to see me do it.

"It's those seven o'clock nets with Goochy, it's all that hard work that goes with it. But it doesn't matter how many runs you've got, your next innings is almost the most important one. Credit to Sri Lanka, the way they batted in the second innings, and it shows how hard you have to work for Test match wins. It was only two years ago that Sri Lanka beat us at Headingley.

"Jimmy's a genius and I'm glad to captain this bowling attack. It was a brilliant hundred from Mo, if he can keep scoring runs at seven he'll make things hard for the selectors."

  17. Post update

    Geoffrey Boycott

Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special

"Cook has been a rock up front. His assets are he's got patience, determination, concentration. He's a bloody-minded, tough so-and-so. He's clever enough to know you can't go flashing the ball all over the park like a middle-order player to an old ball."

Kevin Ticehurst: We are still a work in progress. But this series victory will give us huge confidence going into the Pakistan Test series.

  19. The shot that won the match

Here's Nick Compton turning on the style to seal England's victory. Drink it in, people, drink it in.

  20. Post update

    Geoffrey Boycott

Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special

"We got a pitch which made England work for their wickets, no snakes in it. It got lower and slower, as pitches do and so it became quite similar to pitches in Sri Lanka. They were more comfortable and batted splendidly in the second innings. Chandimal was brilliant, it was a really really fine knock."
