Roger Daltrey 'may not ever' release solo album or biography
Rolling Stone magazine
ReutersCopyright: Reuters
The Who's Roger Daltrey says he's working on a solo music project and a biography, but doesn't know if either of them will ever be released.
"I'll only release it if it's a good book. I don't care how long it takes," he told Rolling Stone, in an interview that also touched on forthcoming legends festival Desert Trip and supporting The Beatles in Blackpool.
"I won't sign a publishing deal," Daltrey continued. "People sign a publishing deal and they have to put it out because they've taken the money... I don't care about the money, I want a good book."
He also said he had "five great tracks" and was "looking for another five" for his solo project - which could be a soul album - adding, "I don't want anything mediocre on it".
However whether it ever sees the light of day remains to be seen.
"There's no record business. How do you get the money to make the records? I don't know," he said.
"I'm certainly not going to pay money to give my music away free. I can't afford to do that. I've got other things I could waste the money on."

Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee has revealed his band missed their own afterparty for their farewell gig on New Year's Eve at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
In an interview with Billboard, ahead of a one-night-only screening of The End concert movie on 14 June, Lee said: "We had a super, super crazy afterparty, but none of the other guys came to it.
"It was interesting. I asked around, like, 'Hey, where are the guys at?' and they're like, 'Oh, they left.' 'Whoa! OK...' Very disappointed, but in the same breath I kinda knew that was gonna happen, so I was prepared for it, y'know?"
The Crue have all gone their own ways since their final gig with Nikki Sixx on the road with his band Sixx:A.M and Lee working on his own music.

"I didn't use to follow recipes, I just used to do it and it was kind of the kinetic energy of it that used to chill me out. When I came home from school I'd cook for an hour and a half and I thought if it worked for me, it could possibly work for other children in the same situation."
