A dog owner has installed CCTV after her pet ate a sausage roll laced with rat poison, left outside her home near a popular West Yorkshire beauty spot. 

Police have issued a warning after the incident close to Coxley Woods on the outskirts of Wakefield.

Bradford Crown Court heard Lupidi and her girls ended up in a refuge in November after she called police to her home in West Yorkshire.

She told officers her partner Carl Weaver, 31, had slapped her twice the night before, though one of the officers told the jury there were no visible injuries.  

Lupidi, an Italian national, killed the two girls the morning after she moved to the refuge.

Prosecutors said she stabbed the girls to death because she feared she may lose them to her partner.

Peter Moulson QC said that moments after the killings Lupidi told a member of staff: "It's his fault. Now he has a reason to kill me. If I can't have them, he can't have them either.

Earlier this month championship side Bradford Bulls appointed Rohan Smith as their new head coach on a three-year deal.

The 35-year-old has left his assistant coach role at NRL side Gold Coast Titans to join the club his father Brian coached between 1995 and 1996.

Police have arrested a man in his sixties in connection with the death of a woman from Leeds last week.

60-year-old Glynnis Woodhead died in Leeds General Infirmary from what police are describing as an internal head injury. 

Officers are treating the death as unexplained and are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed suspicious behaviour in the area of Tinshill Mount and Tinshill Avenue last week. 

The man has been released on bail and investigations are ongoing.

Firefighters are beginning to pull out of Ilkley Moor following the second wildfire there in just over a week.

The latest started yesterday afternoon close to The Cow and Calf pub and needed over 40 firefighters to bring under control. 

Fire chiefs are telling people to be vigilant, and not to light fires or barbecues on the moor.

She had admitted manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

Several ducklings have reportedly been beaten to death by a group of children, prompting a police investigation.

Officers believe the animals were attacked in an area known as the Beck in Halton Moor, Leeds.

A wildlife sanctuary which is caring for a surviving duckling said they were "battered with a stick", before a 10-year-old boy rescued one, reported the Yorkshire Evening Post.

This evening we'll see outbreaks of rain spread from the west overnight, some of these heavy. Strengthening south westerly winds although remaining quite mild, with a temperature low of about 11C (52F).

Lupidi admitted manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility, but denied murdering the girls.

She was found guilty of both murders by a jury of six men and six women after 90 minutes of deliberation.

There were shouts of "yes" from the packed public gallery as the verdicts were read out.
