101-year-old volunteer weatherman to be honoured

Imagine being so dedicated to your job that you do it for 84 years.

Richard Hendrickson is 101 years old and since 1930 he has been recording the weather from his garden in Long Island, New York.

He is one of more than 8,500 volunteer observers across the United States. They are an invaluable help to the Weather Service - but he is by far the longest serving.
