George Osborne: GDP figures 'major milestone'

The Chancellor George Osborne has said GDP figures showing that the economy is now 0.2% ahead of its pre-crisis peak are a "major milestone".

The figures, from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) showed that the economy grew by 0.8% in the second quarter of 2014.

Speaking to the BBC, Mr Osborne welcomed the recovery but said there was "much more to do" and warned the UK must not "repeat the mistakes of the past".
