Folk singers The Young 'uns, who are patrons of the FolkEast festival at Glemham Hall, will be on BBC Springwatch Unsprung tonight singing their new song Lapwings.

They'll be introduced by BBC journalist Frank Gardner reading from the World War One diary of Pte Thomas Williams of the 19th King's Regiment, which inspired the song.

Ferry service gears up for more passengers this summer

Green party wins another seat on Mid-Suffolk district council

Yesterday's by-election in Barking and Somersham has been won by Anne Marie Killett for the Green Party. The seat had been Conservative, and the result was very close, with the party's candidate Jemma Lynch receiving 210 votes to Anne Marie Killett's 212.
This takes the total number of Green councillors in Mid Suffolk to six.

They are the largest opposition party to the Conservative controlled council. It's the seventh seat the Tories have lost in Suffolk in the last month.
Couple missing from Weybread home for almost a week
A search is being carried out at a property in Mill Lane, Weybread, near Diss, for a couple who haven't been seen since Saturday, 28 May.

Police say they were contacted this morning by a woman who said she was concerned about the couple who are related to her. The woman had already asked friends, neighbours and checked local hospitals in a bid to find them.
Police say the disappearance is "out of character" for the couple.

Those campaigning for Britain to Remain in the EU say it gets a big boost from membership - it makes selling things to other EU countries easier and, they argue, the flow of immigrants, most of whom are young and keen to work, fuels economic growth and helps pay for public services.
They also believe Britain's status in the world would be damaged by leaving and that we are more secure as part of the 28 nation club, rather than going it alone.
Grayling says local businesses are 'better off out' of Europe

Companies in this region would flourish if we left the European Union said Cabinet Minister Chris Grayling when he visited Ipswich's "wine rack" yesterday.

The building was constructed on the Ipswich Waterfront in 2007 but was left undeveloped. Now it faces a brighter future after it was bought by East Anglian developer John Howard last year, who plans to complete the project, turning it into flats.
Mr Grayling said: "There may be big banks, there may be big businesses that say we should stay in the EU, but actually around the country, wherever I go, I find local businesses that say they're better off out, they want to be out, they want us to vote to leave and I think we should listen to them."

Former Ipswich Town and Newcastle United footballer Titus Bramble has tweeted to say the team has made it to Harwich. That's the end of exertions for today. Good luck for the rest of the trip, everyone.

Alan Lee and Titus Bramble are the other former Ipswich Town players taking part in the bike ride from Suffolk to Amsterdam.
The group of 40, named TEAMITFC, set off from Portman Road earlier.
Legends join Ipswich to Amsterdam bike ride
A group of cyclists, including Ipswich Town legends Terry Butcher and Simon Milton, are currently on a bike ride from Ipswich to Amsterdam to raise money for Prostate Cancer and the Ipswich Academy.
Here's a tweet posted by Milton when the team reached Colchester, en route to Harwich for a ferry crossing. More on this very shortly.

As part of today's BBC Music Day more than 40 bridges across the UK and Channel Islands, including the Sir Bobby Robson Bridge in Ipswich, have been turned into stages for a series of performances and gigs.

Suffolk Soul Singers performed on the bridge, which was built in 2009 and named after the former Ipswich Town, Newcastle United and England manager.
It connects a housing development on the west side of the River Orwell with the civic quarter on the east bank.
NHS reveals cost of supplying medicines that can be bought over the counter

More now on our story about the cost of prescription medicines in the county - and the NHS in Suffolk has revealed that it spent £3,417,719 in the year 2015-16 prescribing medication for the conditions listed below:

Chairman of the West Suffolk Clinical Commissioning Group, Dr Andrew Hassan, says one of the major costs is that you need a consultation with a doctor to raise the prescription: "That consultation has been costed out at about £28 per encounter.
"That adds an enormous amount to the cost to the NHS of providing these prescriptions."

Cycle ride marks the 35th anniversary of Ipswich Town's Uefa Cup win
Now for one final post on the Ipswich to Amsterdam bike ride.
It's 250 miles (402km) in total and will see the team return to Suffolk on Monday.
To mark the 35th anniversary of Town’s Uefa Cup final win over AZ Alkmaar, the team will visit the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam, where Blues lifted the trophy in May 1981.
