  1. Post update

Phew! That's everything all over in Glasgow for another action-packed day. Hands up if you want some more on Wednesday? Nice one.

Day seven in a sentence: Hockey hots up and Delhi divers defend their titles.

Also in action: Can Olympic long jump champion Greg Rutherford add a Commonwealth Games gold to his collection?

    Nineteen gold medals to be won: Athletics (men's 400m, high jump and long jump, women's 3,000m steeplechase, shot put, javelin and heptathlon), Diving (women's 3m synchro and 10m synchro, men's 1m), Gymnastics (men's and women's artistic all-around events), Weightlifting (women's +75k, men's 105kg), Wrestling (men's 61kg and 97kg, women's 53kg, 58kg and 69kg).

See you again tomorrow - be there at 08:00 BST sharp. Laters!

  2. Day six highlights

Before we leave you until tomorrow, let's have a recap of what shenanigans we have seen throughout day six...

  3. Medal table

    Commonwealth Games
  4. Medal table

England's double success in the gymnastics were two of 31 gold medals dished out in Glasgow today. Shall we look how that lot has affected the medal table over halfway through the Games? Go on then.

  5. Gymnastics

    England's team of gold-medal winners

And there was also some encouraging pictures from the Hydro Arena as England's men collected their gold medals a short while ago.

Louis Smith, Sam Oldham, Kristian Thomas, Max Whitlock and Nile Wilson won the men's title, but Oldham had to go for an MRI scan after falling heavily on his ankle midway through the competition.

Something tells me that the strapped up 21-year-old wasn't going to miss the moment of glory.

  6. Gymnastics

    Women's team final

Ruby Harrold, Hannah Whelan, Kelly Sim, Rebecca Downie and Claudia Fragapane of England

England's women emulated the achievement of their male team-mates by winning gold in the gymnastics team final at the Hydro Arena.

Rebecca Downie, Claudia Fragapane, Ruby Harrold, Hannah Whelan and Kelly Simm held off Australia to win, with Wales putting in a superb display for bronze.

England's women finished on a total of 167.555, and errors from Australia on both the floor and beam in the final rotation left them second on 161.646.

The Welsh team of Lizzie Beddoe, Georgina Hockenhull, Jessica Hogg, Angel Romaeo and Raer Theaker secured the country's first team medal with a score of 160.095.

  7. Boxing

The night is over at the SECC as today's boxing card draws to a close. And it has been a decent shift for two British hopes in the women's middleweight. World number one Savannah Marshall of England eases past India's Pooja Rani, while Wales hopeful Lauren Price joins her in the last eight. Price beat Guyana's Theresa London.

  8. Weightlifting

Australian weightlifter Jenna Myers withdrew from competition in the 75kg class at the Clyde Auditorium earlier due to illness.

The 28-year-old from Launceston collapsed in the athlete rest area prior to weigh-in and the decision was made by venue medical staff to transport her to hospital for medical attention.

    Athletes on Twitter

Defending 400m hurdles champion Dai Greene: My Commonwealth Games starts tomorrow at about 11:30am. Always proud to wear the red vest of Wales. I'm expecting some welsh weather too.

  10. Athletics

    Women's 1500m final

England's Laura Weightman sets her sights on more medal-winning performances after taking silver in the women's 1500m.

"I don't think words can describe the feeling for I got crossing the line and getting that medal you want so desperately," she tells BBC Sport. "I was hanging on for dear life and trying to close in on the Kenyan.

"My coach Steve Cram told me that if I came off the track, wherever I finished, knowing I'd given everything then I could be happy. I'm glad I gave it everything I could. I'm not sure how Steve copes with the emotions and the pressures of coaching me then commentating on me! But hopefully this is the start of things for us."

  11. Weightlifting

    Men's 94kg

Silver medallist Simplice Ribouem of Australia, gold Medallist Steven Kukuna Kari of Papua New Guinea and bronze medallist Chandrakant Dadu Mali of India

That paved the way for Papua New Guinea's Steven Kukuna Kari to take gold - and then pose for the obligatory lift of his medal rivals. Great scenes. The 21-year-old's 200kg lift pipped Australia's Cameroon-born lifter Simplice Ribouem, the reigning Commonwealth 85kg champion, who hit the canvas as he failed in his last attempt of 201kg.

  12. Weightlifting

    Men's 94kg

I've never seen a hulking Scot almost reduced to tears - but weightlifter Peter Kirkbride was close to the waterworks after blowing his Commonwealth hopes. He won silver four years ago in Delhi and was aiming to become the first Scot to win a gold in this event for 52 years. But the pressure seems to get to him, producing three no lifts on each of his clean and jerk attempts.

    Men's 110m hurdles final

    Will Sharman

Earlier, England's Will Sharman won silver in the men's 110m hurdles, but admits he has a slight regret that the colour was not gold.

"I can't lie. There is an aspect of thinking what might have been, but I'm happy to have got a medal," he tells BBC Sport.

"I just hit one of the hurdles really badly and that was just as I was trying to move away. Had that not happened, I am sure I would have run a quicker time."

  15. Athletics

    Women's 1500m final

Emotional moment for our very own Steve Cram, who not only watched Laura Weightman's silver success as a commentator, but also as her coach.

  16. Athletics

    Women's 1500m final

    Steve Cram

    BBC Sport athletics commentator

"I am so proud of Laura. There's a lot of athletes who have so much talent and don't have to work so hard. But Laura really puts the effort in and is so easy for me to coach from that perspective. The two Kenyans are the best in the world, but we talked about if they have an off day you have to be ready to take that opportunity. Laura is a real scrapper."

  17. Athletics

    Women's 1500m final

    Paula Radcliffe

BBC Sport athletics expert & 2002 CWG champion

    Laura Weightman

"Laura ran out of her skin and she kept digging deep. They were queuing up behind her but she didn't panic, she's so strong but the strengthening work she's done showed how much she can fight. She ran right through to that line. I am so happy for her because she really deserves that. She hung in there, she knows she was up against two of the best runners around and produced something special."

  18. Silver Medal

Nick Miller (England) - men's hammer

Nick Miller celebrates winning silver in the hammer with his father Lenny

England's Nick Miller - the man with the monster appetite - was hungry for a slice of tasty medal action, and he is going home with one of the silver variety. His second throw of 72.99m was enough to claim runners-up spot, just in front of Scotland's Mark Dry who snaffled bronze with a distance of 71.64m. Canada's Jim Steacy takes gold with 74.16.

  19. Athletics

    Women's 1500m final

Laura Weightman had to dig deep in the final few strides to hold off Canada's Kate Van Buskirk, and now the relief is clear as she legs it over to her mum in the crowd to celebrate. Weightman's time of 4:09.24 is just 0.17 seconds ahead of Van Buskirk, with 2012 world junior champion Faith Kibiegon dipping over the line in 4:08.94.

  20. Athletics

    Women's 1500m final

    Steve Cram

    BBC Sport athletics commentator

    Laura Weightman

"Laura Weightman hangs on for the silver! What a performance to beat one of the Kenyan runners. We hoped one of the British athletes could get in there and nick a medal, but we expected a Kenyan one-two so Laura has exceeded expectation."

  21. Gold Medal

    Faith Kibiegon (Kenya) - women's 1500m

England's Laura Weightman tries to chase Faith Kibiegon down to the line, it proves too little too late as the Kenyan clinches gold.

  22. Athletics

    Brendan Foster

BBC athletics commentator and ex-CWG champion

"Laura Weightman is making a long run for it. The pace is really starting to gather."

  23. ATHLETICS

    Women's 1500m final

Ding ding! The final lap bell sounds, shortly after England's Laura Weightman moves on to the shoulder of the leading Kenyans Faith Kibiegon.

  24. Athletics

    Women's 1500m final

    Steve Cram

    BBC Sport athletics commentator

"A slow start to the race. The Kenyans are already loitering together and will have their plan in mind."

  25. Athletics

    Women's 1500m final

Laura Muir, the darling of the home crowd, is packed tightly into the middle of the group after the opening lap. You could throw a blanket over all the runners at the moment.

  26. Athletics

    Women's 1500m final

But, like all middle and long distance events, there are always a couple of pesky Kenyans threatening to get in the way. 2013 world bronze medallist Hellen Obiri is the probably the pick of the bunch. The starter's gun sounds - we're off!

  27. Athletics

    Women's 1500m final

Time to squeeze one more medal event in at Hampden Park. It's showdown time in the women's 1500m final. There are four strong British hopes - Scottish hope Laura Muir and English trio Hannah England, Jemma Simpson and Laura Weightman.

  28. Athletics

    Men's hammer final

England's Nick Miller - not to be confused with the character of the same name from American comedy New Girl - lets fly with his fifth of six attempts. But it is not enough to peg back Canada's Jim Steacy, who leads with a throw of 74.16m. That is just over a metre clear of miller's 72.99m mark.

  29. Starting soon

  30. Swimming

    Ian Thorpe

Five-time Olympic gold medallist & BBC swimming analyst

"I think there have been some good individual performances overall - Ross Murdoch in particular in the breaststroke has excited me. Fran Halsall caused some upsets with the Australians. There's Adam Peaty and Ben Proud as well. As soon as you can start listing names you know that are going in the right direction.

"I don't think there has been a standout performer overall throughout the whole competition who has dominated. Although I think it's good for the sport that we don't have someone who wins every event. I think now we'll return to an era of people winning a few gold medals here and there."

  31. Swimming

    Ian Thorpe

Five-time Olympic gold medallist & BBC swimming analyst

"The 19 gold medals for Australia is the same total as Delhi, but it will get a different reaction back home than four years ago. That was seen as a disappointment, but this will be seen as a success because of how poor Australia did at London 2012."

  32. Athletics

    Men's hammer final

The action has not stopped at Hampden Park. Oh no. The big men are still chucking hammers as far as their biceps will let them.

England's Alex Smith throws 70.99m but it only keeps him in fourth, tucked in behind Scotland's Mark Dry in third. Talking of tucking in...Englishman Nick Miller, who apparently has a diet of six chicken breast per night, and also munches four 18oz steaks each week, is second. He would definitely win a gold medal for eating.

  33. Swimming

    Nick Hope

    BBC Sport in Glasgow

"Glasgow 2014 will be remembered as a Games which far exceeded the expectations of the hosts Scotland as well as England in the pool, whilst there has also been plenty to cheer for Wales over the last 24 hours.

"Some truly great performances have brought the home nations a total of 48 medals, and whilst bigger challenges lie ahead when they face the likes of the USA and China at the World Championships next year after a disappointing London Olympics in the pool, there's finally a group of young swimmers emerging which will give Britain huge optimism about the future.

  34. Swimming

England win men's 4x100m medley relay final

    Ian Thorpe

Five-time Olympic gold medallist & BBC swimming analyst

England's Adam Peaty, a member of the winning team, walks through a guard of honour

"England were favourites, this was always going to be a tough race for the Australians. The butterfly and the breaststroke legs they annihilated the Aussies and just gave them enough for Adam Brown to hold on at the end. They might have had concerns having never won this event before, but that's been put to bed now."

  35. Athletics

    Men's decathlon

Heartbreak for England's John Lane, who can almost sniff out that bronze from his fourth-place spot. Wales's ponytailed Ben Gregory finishes in sixth. Gregory's compatriots David Guest and Curtis Matthews also finish in the top 10, with Northern Ireland's Peter Glass in 12th and England's Martin Brockman another place behind.

  36. Swimming

    Men's 4x100m medley relay final

England's Chris Walker-Hebborn tells BBC Sport after their 4x100m medley relay gold medal: "I'm buzzing. To come away with a gold medal and new Commonwealth Games record as well is amazing."

Adam Peaty adds: "These guys are like my brothers and we brought it home for England!"

  37. Swimming

  43. Gold medal

    Australia - Women's 4x100m medley relay swimming

Cate Campbell leads Australia to gold after a phenomenal final leg. England, who secure silver, had been leading but Fran Halsall is unable to stop Campbell from powering ahead. Canada clinch bronze. Wales are disqualified after Chloe Tutton goes off too early.

They'll be dancing on the streets of Neath after Daniel Jervis's heroic efforts. The 18-year-old from the South Wales town looks happier than winner Ryan Cochrane as he clutches his bronze on the podium, his beaming smile lighting up the Tollcross International Swimming Centre.

  45. Silver Medal

Ashley Bryant (England) - men's decathlon

Bronze medallist Ashley Bryant of England

Ashley Bryant does not win bronze - he wins silver! The Englishman finishes third in the 1500m with a time of 4:38.24, which combined with Kurt Felix's sixth-place, sees him fly above the Grenadian behind gold medal winner Damian Warner of Jamaica.

  46. Athletics

    Men's decathlon

Pretorius still leads going into the bell as England's Ashley Bryant and John Lane battle for a bronze medal. Overall leader Damian Warner is fourth, which would be enough to win gold.

  47. Athletics

    Men's decathlon

The final event has kicked off in the men's decathlon. South Africa's Fredriech Pretorius, ninth in the overall standings, streak about 40m clear. After 400m the whole field is lined up in single file like an orderly bunch of primary school children waiting for their bus to the swimming baths.

  48. Swimming

    Nick Hope

    BBC Sport in Glasgow

"It may 'only' have been a bronze medal for Daniel Jervis of Wales, but it drew cheers equal to those for swimmers who have won Commonwealth gold in Glasgow.

"The 1500m race is so tough that there is a real appreciation of the effort being put into it and with 100m to go Jarvis looked out of it - but be produced a storming final length to sprint past Australia's Jordan Harrison in the final 5m - all to booming applause!"

  51. Swimming

    Women's 4x100m medley relay final

Can Wales double their medal tally in the pool on the final day of competition at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre? They started with four but an unexpected bronze in the men's 1500m freestyle, a brilliant gold in women's 50m backstroke and silver in the women's 400m freestyle has increased that to seven.

Two races left. Coming up next is the women's 4x100m medley relay final.

"Will Sharman be very disappointed. He might not show it, but he'll be hurting because it's not often you get presented with a chance for a gold medal. I think he just made lapse in concentration because he couldn't' see anyone with him around that eighth hurdle and it's cost him."

  56. Athletics

    Men's 110m hurdles final

Will Sharman grimaces as he slows down after the line, then takes a deep breath and manages to find a broad smile. He picks up a St George's Cross off the track to lap up the applause of Hampden Park. He adds a 2014 silver to the same colour medal that he won in Delhi four years ago.

  57. Athletics

    Men's 110m hurdles final

    Colin Jackson

Two-time CWG champion and BBC Sport athletics pundit

"Will Sharman will be disappointed with himself because he didn't do many things wrong, but you don't want to go into the last hurdle with Andrew Riley because he's a sprinter and always finishes strong. Will made a big mistake at hurdle eight and that just pulled him back. That hurdle made the whole difference."

  58. Gold Medal

    Andrew Riley (Jamaica) - men's 110m hurdles

Yes! Yes, Will Sharman can. He grabs silver but it is a case of thinking what might have been for the 29-year-old. He clatters the eighth hurdle, losing a valuable milli-second to hand victory to Jamaica's Andrew Riley.

  61. Gold medal

Ryan Cochrane (Canada) - men's 1500m freestyle final

Canada's Ryan Cochrane produces a superb performance to comfortably defend his Commonwealth title, but there's more joy for Wales as 18-year-old Daniel Jervis finishes strongly to secure bronze. A brilliant effort by the lad from Neath and the European junior champion. Silver goes to 18-year-old Mack Horton of Australia.

For the record, Wales now have seven medals in the pool.

  62. Athletics

    Adam Gemili

England's 100m silver medallist Adam Gemili on the medal ceremony at Hampden Park: "It is crazy. I've just been presented with the medal and the reaction was the same when I won silver last night. I didn't get that reaction even at the Olympics. It was different at the Olympics because I was a bit unknown, but the crowd here knew a little about me when I came out and all I heard was my name and that sent shivers up my arm. It gave me that energy."

"Montsho was never going to be able to keep that pace and it cost her a gold last time in the World Championships, this time it cost her a medal. She got caught up in the emotion of it all and thought she was superwoman. Williams-Mills should have known not to go with her. She's an experienced runner so why did she do that? McPherson has a talent, she had great poise and looked so relaxed."

  64. Athletics

Silver medallist Novlene Williams-Mills of Jamaica (L), gold medallist Stephanie McPherson of Jamaica (R) and bronze medallist Christine Day

Did somebody say there could be a Jamaican 1-2-3? Yup, that's right. Stephanie McPherson runs her own race, refuses to panic and then goes hell for leather on the straight. Novlene Williams-Mills can hear the sound of McPherson's spikes thundering behind her and sees her compatriot race past her in the last 15m. The third Jamaican, Christine Day, leaves it late to nick bronze from Botswana's Amantle Montsho, who paid the price for going too big too soon.

    Men's 400m semi-finals

    Michael Johnson

BBC Sport athletics expert & 400m world record holder

"Whatever you do at the beginning of the race takes its toll later on and it cost Isaac Makwala there. At 180m into the race he turned it on, but he put too much effort in on the bend and ran out of steam. As for Nigel Levine, he has lovely technique but he just doesn't have the speed, there was no change in acceleration from him."

  71. Athletics

    Men's hammer final

Plenty of home nations' interest among the 12 men taking to the cage in a short while (20:40pm BST).

Mark Dry, Andy Frost and Chris Bennett fling for Scotland; Alex Smith, Nick Miller and Amir Williamson will hurl for England; and Dempsey McGuigan will launch his hammer for Northern Ireland.

  72. Athletics

    Men's 400m semi-finals

More British interest in the final semi-final as Nigel Levine goes for a place in the showpiece. Unfortunately he is nowhere to be seen as Lalonde Gordon finishes strongly to nick the win from Latoy Williams and Isaac Makwala. Botswana's Makwala, who set a new African record last month, looks almost certain to duck over the line first but fades quicker than a cheap pair of jeans. And that means he will not even reach the final as a fastest loser.

  73. Swimming

    Men's 1500m freestyle final

    Stephen Milne dives in

It's the men's 1500m freestyle final next and there will be plenty of eyes on England's Jay Lelliott. The 19-year-old from Portland, Dorset, underwent two operations for a recurrent brain tumour at the ages of 12 and 13 but now finds himself going for a Commonwealth medal.

England are also represented by Daniel Fogg, while Neath-born Daniel Jervis is seeking to continue a fantastic final night for Wales in the pool. Scotland are represented by 20-year-old Stephen Milne.

The favourite, however, is Canada's Ryan Cochrane, a silver medallist at the 2012 Olympics.

"That was impressive from Kirani James, although that's what we expect from him because he's the class of the field. At some point he has to develop power because he has great endurance. I wonder if he will ever do that, because he could become a world record holder if he does that. He has a long stride, but not that power at the moment. I know it sounds strange but I would like to see someone break my world record one day!"

"Martyn looks like he can run quicker. His execution of this race was good - he got round his first 200m well then composed himself before a strong finish. The biggest change in him is I see his attitude. It's a lot more serious, focused and with belief in his talent to say 'I should be here' now."

    Men's 400m semi-finals

    Martyn Rooney

England's Martyn Rooney looks pretty pleased after qualifying for the men's 400m final - but refuses to be complacent.

"I was happy with that, I felt confident and it showed," he tells BBC Sport. "I need to make sure I'm in contention on the home straight because I'll always be in with a shout if I'm in the mix at that stage. The time wasn't great but it was enough for today. I know I'll need more in the final."

    Men's 400m semi-finals

Told you so. Kirani James almost has a cigar in his mouth as he jogs down the last 100m for a time of 45.14. Very impressive. South Africa's Wayde van Niekerk grabs the second automatic qualification spot, with England's Michael Bingham in fourth. No place for the 28-year-old in Wednesday's final.

New Zealand's Sophie Pascoe coasts to victory and only narrowly falls short of setting a new world record. Australia's Katherine Downie clinches silver, while there is a bronze for Canada thanks to Aurelie Rivard.

    Steve Cram

    BBC Sport athletics commentator

"All of the talent we saw back in 2006 from Martyn Rooney came out in that race, and we're seeing him back to something like his best now. He glided home in the end with an impressive run. He's up against Kirani James but he's shown he will be a contender. That was a top quality performance."

  84. Athletics

    Men's 400m semi-finals

Silence in the Glasgow evening air is pierced by the starter's gun. England's Martyn Rooney, complete with a non-aerodynamic bushy beard, sits in the middle lane, pounding along nicely before hitting the straight hard. He steps down on the gas, looks left, looks right and wins the first semi-final in 45.22. Trinidad's Jarrin Solomon and Chris Brown of the Bahamas, who has more gold, silver and bronze than Mr T from the A-Team, trail in his wake.

    Georgia Davies' gold medal

"Does the swimming really have to end here in Glasgow?

"The crowd are loving it and the home nation athletes appear unstoppable at the moment. Even Wales have finally joined the party - their first women's gold in the pool for 40 years last night and now they have two in two days!

"Georgia Davies has her hands on that precious medal and she won't be letting it go for a while!"

  86. Swimming

Time for a recap from the Tollcross International Swimming Centre. Four races down, four to go. Wales have added one gold - thanks to Georgia Davies - and one silver - in the shape of Jazz Carlin - to their overall medal tally. Ben Proud has also secured England a ninth gold in the pool at the Games. Meanwhile, home fans have been celebrating Daniel Wallace's silver in the 200m individual medley.

With the women, Novelene Williams-Mills is looking in good shape and Christine Day has been quick so it looks like Amantle Monthsho will have her work out to win it. All eyes will be on Kirani James in the men's semi-finals but of the English guys Martyn Rooney and Michael Bingham have a chance of making the final."

    Adam Gemili

Magical moment for England's Adam Gemili. The 20-year-old sprinter is beaming from ear to ear as he walks back out into Hampden Park to collect his silver medal from the men's 100m. Sure he will experience a few more of these ceremonies in the coming years...

    Men's 200m individual medley

Men's individual medley silver medallist Daniel Wallace of Scotland tells BBC Sport: "If you'd have told me before the Games I was going to get two silvers and one gold I'd have never believed you! I've got a few weeks off now for a break, and then it's back to the United States for training again."

  92. Swimming

    Women's 50m backstroke

The Welsh national anthem booms out at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre as Georgia Davies receives her 50m backstroke gold medal. Unlike team-mate Jazz Carlin 24 hours ago, there are no tears from the 23-year-old.

  93. Silver Medal

Laura Samuel (England) - women's triple jump

    Laura Samuel

Another silver medal is snaffled by Team England as 23-year-old Laura Samuel sticks another 34cm on her personal best. Her effort of 14.09m is enough to finish 0.12m behind Jamaica's Kimberly Williams, who adds the Commonwealth title to the World Indoor bronze she won earlier this year.

  95. Gold medal

Daniel Tranter (Australia) - men's swimming 200m individual medley

    Daniel Tranter of Australia

Gold for Australia's Daniel Tranter but it's raining medals for the home nations in the pool.

Daniel Wallace, who appeared at pool side wearing a kilt much to the delight of the home crowd, produces a powerful final 100m to add silver to the gold the Scot won in the 400m individual medley.

South Africa's Chad le Clos takes bronze - his sixth medal in Glasgow. A phenomenal effort.

  96. Athletics

    Men's decathlon

In the middle of Hampden Park, all eyes switch to the men's decathlon. England's John Lane, who was second ahead of the penultimate event, takes a short run up and flings it well over the 52m mark. A cheeky grin from the Sheffield man, who is happy with that effort in what he, I'm sure, would not describe as his best event. That's enough to keep him fourth in the overall standings.

  97. Athletics

    Women's 10,000m

    Paula Radcliffe

BBC Sport athletics expert & 2002 CWG champion

"That was great to see between Beth Potter and and Kate Avery. I think we were all rooting for Beth to hang on but Kate just pipped her. It's nice to see them both get personal bests. They will have relished running in this stadium. The Kenyans will have gone into the race trying to clean up with the medals, but Florence Kiplagat will not be happy that Joyce Chepkiri has done her on the line and got the gold."

  98. Athletics

    Women's 10,000m

Heart-warming scenes as Scotland's Beth Potter and her English rival Kate Avery share beaming smiles and a warm hug at the finishing line. Then, the British love-in doesn't stop there. Both see their respective national flags flung in their direction and they find the energy from somewhere to jog off together and share a celebratory lap of honour.

  99. Swimming

    Men's 200m individual medley

What a night for Wales in the pool. Three races gone and they already have one gold and one silver. Five more races to go. Will the Welsh dragon be roaring in the men's 200m individual medley? Cardiff's Ieuan Lloyd will do his utmost to make sure it does.

  100. Swimming

    Women's 50m backstroke final

Gold medallist Georgina Davies from Wales on her duel with silver medallist England's Lauren Quigley: "I'm so happy, especially the two of us battling against each other and now we stand on the podium next to each other. And we both smashed the old British record.

"It is back to Loughborough to train tomorrow, but I don't want to stop swimming now because I want the fast times to keep coming.

The 50m backstroke will not feature in Rio 2016, so Georgia will target the 100m. "I've gained a lot of confidence in the 100m after this week and if I keep training then hopefully in two years I'll be there in Rio."

  101. Wrestling

    Korey Jarvis (Canada) - men's freestyle 125kg

  102. Athletics

    Joyce Chepkiri (Kenya) - 10,000m

    Joyce Chepkirui of Kenya

Florence Kiplagat kicks hard from the front, eyes fixed on the big screen. But she runs out of steam as Joyce Chepkiri makes a late dash to nick it.

And then there's more drama. Scotland's Beth Potter led earlier in the race but is coming under increasing pressure down the straight from England's Kate Avery. There's a gasp from the Hampden crowd and then a silenced hush - which tells you everything you need to know. The Scottish hope is pipped at the line.

  103. Boxing

    Men's lightweight (60kg) quarter-finals

Northern Ireland's Joe Fitzpatrick wins a unanimous verdict to defeat Kenya's Nicholas Okongo Okoth.

But victory - and a guaranteed medal -comes at a cost. A clash of heads towards the end opens up what looks like a deep cut around Fitzpatrick's eye. The medics will have to work hard on that to patch him up for his semi-final bout.

  104. Gold medal

    Georgia Davies (Wales) - women's 50m backstroke

    Georgia Davies celebrates

More joy for Wales in the pool as Georgia Davies takes gold ahead of England's Lauren Quigley, the Stockport-born swimmer forced to settle for silver. Bronze goes to Canada's Brooklyn Snodgrass.

Twenty-four hours ago Wales did not have a female gold medal winner in the Commonwealth pool for 40 years. Now they have two.

Australia, who have been a dominant force, had three swimmers in this race but Madi Wilson, Emily Seebohm and Belinda Hocking were all edged off the podium.

"Chad Le Clos' father Bert appears pool-side with the event presenter and reveals he has a very croaky voice from 'screaming all week'.

"Unsurprisingly he claims the event has been 'unbelievable' - his trademark phrase - and it could get even better for the Le Clos family tonight with Chad looking to add to his five medals (two gold) here in Glasgow. He's in in two further finals..."

  108. Athletics

Chepkiri, Chebet and Kiplagat streak around the bend about 30m ahead of British pair Beth Potter and Kate Avery. England's Avery is now hot on the heels of Potter with three laps left.

  109. Athletics

Now the Kenyan trio make their move. The three athletes cruise past Scotland's Beth Potter with six laps to go. Potter is about 10 metres behind and has to forget about those three - they're long gone now. Joyce Chepkiri, Emily Chebet and Florence Kiplagat are very comfortable.

They're still catching their breath at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre but they are already preparing for the women's 50m backstroke final. Can England's Lizzie Simmonds or Lauren Quigley add another gold after Ben Proud's stunning effort? Or will Georgia Davies spark celebrations in Wales? Scotland's 16-year-old Kathleen Dawson is also going for a medal.

    Rebecca Adlington

Four-time Olympic medallist and BBC Sport swimming expert

On England's ninth gold medal in the pool: "We only got nine medals in Delhi in total in 2010. But even Jazz Carlin was great for Wales in the 400m freestyle. She was not disappointed with silver and Scotland's Hannah Miley knocked three seconds off her personal best and this was her seventh event."

  113. Athletics

Roared on by the Glasgow crowd, Scotland's Beth Potter goes for the break. Huge response from the Saltire-waving fans as the 22-year-old decides to take this race by the scruff of the neck. She leads with eight laps to go.

  114. Bronze Medal

Chinu Chinu (England) - 125kg wrestling

    Chinu Chinu

Another bronze for England as Wolverhampton's Chinu Chinu beat Hollis Ochieng Mkanga of Kenya in the 125kg repechage.

"I have waited so long for this day, it is what I have trained day and night for," said Chinu, who missed out on selection for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in India, where he was born before moving to England as a teenager.

"I have been through so much to make my country, all my friends and family proud."

The Englishman, who goes by a single name, was shown as 'XXX Chinu' on the big screen and scoreboard. He said: "It is a pretty cool name, isn't it?"

  115. Athletics

The three Kenyans - Joyce Chepkiri, Emily Chebet and Florence Kiplagat - are still dominating the race as they saunter past the 5,600m mark. The British quartet are bunched together from sixth to ninth. One of those managing to nick fourth would be almost as credible as grabbing a medal.

  116. Gold Medal

Ben Proud (England) - men's 50m freestyle swimming

    Ben Proud

Brilliant by England's Ben Proud as the Londoner collects his second gold of the Games with a stunning effort.

The 19-year-old edges out Australians Cameron McEvoy and James Magnussen who finish second and third respectively.

That's England's ninth gold in the pool at these Games. Proud has two of them having already finished first in the 50m butterfly final.

  117. Athletics

    Women's 10,000m

    Brendan Foster

BBC athletics commentator and ex-CWG champion

"Lap 11 was the slowest lap of the race so far - 82 seconds. There is still no pace here but that's OK - and it is good for the British athletes of Kate Avery, Sonia Samuels, Elizabeth Potter and Elinor Kirk."

  118. Swimming

    Nick Hope

    BBC Sport in Glasgow

"Welsh swimmer Jazz Carlin breathing heavily and shrugs as she grabs hold of the lane rope at the end of her 400m race after finishing second. She would have loved gold, to add to her success over 800m last night, but it was a much improved performance from the heat swims and two medals has certainly helped restore some national pride at a difficult Games for the Welsh."

  119. Athletics

Odds on a Kenyan 1-2-3 in the women's 10,000m? Very slim. Joyce Chepkiri, Emily Chebet and Florence Kiplagat are already leading the chase. England's Kate Avery and Wales' Elinor Kirk are part of the pack trying to keep up.

  120. SWIMMING

    Women's 400m freestyle final

Silver medallist Jazz Carlin of Wales

Silver medallist Jazz Carlin of Wales: "I wanted gold but will take silver. I couldn't ask for a great reception from the crowd and to finish on such a high. I can't complain."

  121. Gold Medal

Lauren Boyle (New Zealand) - women's 400m freestyle

New Zealand's Lauren Boyle takes gold but what an effort by Welsh swimmer Jazz Carlin who earns her second medal of the Games after winning silver.

Australia's Bronte Barrett edges out home favourite Hannah Miley for bronze. So that's a gold and a silver for 23-year-old Carlin in the last 24 hours.

  122. Athletics

    Tom Fordyce

    Chief sports writer in Glasgow

"A fresh evening in the national stadium, and by the time the women's 1500m goes off just before 10pm it'll be a night for blankets on knees and hip-flasks to lips. The atmosphere as Scotland's Laura Muir (personal best: 4 mins 00.07 secs) takes on England's Laura Weightman (PB: 4:00.17) should be spicy enough to warm even those in ill-judged shorts and T-shirts. In a way it was more nerve-racking watching Canada against Wales for bronze than England taking on Australia for gold. Wales have had such a long wait for a medal, and they were so nervous. Even when the medal was confirmed half of the team believed it, and the other half didn't.

"Lots of Brits in action at the SECC tonight, you can't move for their furious fists. I won't mention all of them but one match to look out for is Wales' Zack Davies versus Scottish Olympian Josh Taylor in the light-welterweight category, they're fighting for a guaranteed bronze medal."

Plenty of UK women will be inspired to start playing sport after watching the Commonwealth Games, says Minister for Sport Helen Grant.

Grant believes role models such as English cyclist Laura Trott will boost female participation in sports.

"We have a lot of work to do but we are doing it," she tells BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour. "Laura Trott, Nicola Adams and Ellie Simmonds are the role models who can make that change happen."

Ding ding, round one! Can't imagine a member of the Royal family, with plenty of security heavies watching their every move, has to use their fists on a regular basis.

But here is Prince Harry squaring up in the ring to a sparring partner as he visited a coaching project at Gorbals Leisure Centre in Glasgow. All in a good cause.

  145. Shooting

    Women's 50m rifle 3 positions

High fives all round for Jen McIntosh. That's because she is the first Scottish woman to win five Commonwealth Games medals, surpassing her mum, and fellow shooter, Shirley's total. I don't think Mum will be too upset.

  146. Silver Medal

Jen McIntosh (Scotland) - 50m rifle 3 positions

    Jen McIntosh of Team Scotland

Scotland's Jen McIntosh claims her second medal of the Games, finishing second behind Jasmine Ser of Singapore at Barry Budden.

The 23-year-old from Aberdeen won bronze in the 50m rifle prone on Monday, having claimed two golds and a bronze in Delhi four years ago.

  147. Gymnastics

    Women's Team Final

Australia and Canada are the only dangers to the medal hopes of the Home Nations in the women's team event. Sure the members of the England, Wales and Scotland teams are all huddled around a television in a draughty corridor inside the Hydro Arena. Signs of nerves from both sets of gymnasts.

  148. Weightlifting

    Aimee Lewis

    BBC Sport in Glasgow

"It was quite some time ago that Marie-Eve Beauchemin-Nadeau stood on top of the podium to collect her weightlifting gold, but she's still on stage even though the auditorium has emptied. The reason? She's taking a group photo with her Canadian team-mates. It's been quite a successful event for the Canadians. They're fourth in the weightlifting medal table with a total of three (one gold and two bronze medals)."

  149. Bronze Medal

    Mike Grundy (England) - men's freestyle 74kg

    Mike Grundy

Wigan's Mike Grundy takes bronze with a rapid 10-0 technical superiority victory over David Galea of Malta.

Grundy, whose sister Sarah will also fight at 58kgs for England on Wednesday, said: "It is a big achievement to get the bronze/ I was a bit down to lose the semi-finals, but all the staff helped pick me up this afternoon.

"My sister is here, and I heard her shouting over there. It is a different kind of experience having your sister around, we have supported each other."

  150. Gold Medal

Sushil Kumar (India) - men's freestyle 74kg wrestling

India's Sushil Kumar beats Qamar Abbas of Pakistan 8-0 to secure gold and further enhance his status in his home country (see 16:43 entry).

  151. Wrestling

    Neil Johnston

    BBC Sport in Glasgow

"The action is fast and furious. No sooner has one match finished than another begins. In the space of five minutes I have witnessed tears of frustration from one England wrestler and another team-mate punch the air in triumph.

"Yana Rattigan is clearly distraught after losing her freestyle 48kg gold medal match. Out of view from the paying public, she walks past the waiting TV cameras and reporters and crumples to the floor in tears. A Team England official puts a consoling arm around her shoulder, whispers a few comforting words in her ear and Yana slowly climbs to her feet before conducting a string of interviews.

"Minutes later England's Mike Grundy is clutching a St George's flag handed to him by a young fan after victory in his freestyle 74kg bronze medal contest."

  152. Wrestling

    Women's 48kg

    Yana Rattigan

England's Yana Rattigan is distraught as she finishes with the silver medal, losing to India's Vinesh in the gold-medal match.

"There were a couple of moments where this was my match, like in the very first move I did, normally I pin from that move, like I did on the way to the final, but she is so damn good," says Rattigan.

"I am selfish, I wanted the gold, but I have to wait for another time.

"Every competition is experience, they say it is like two months of training. In wrestling, you can win against a strong person and then lose against a person who is weaker than you. The gold goes to the person for whom it all came together the most. I just did not do something right."

  153. Gold Medal

    Marie-Eve Beauchemin-Nadeau (Canada) - women's 75kg weightlifting

    Craig Heap

BBC Sport gymnastics expert and two-time CWG champion

"There's more to come from Claudia Fragapane in the future and her huge smile tells the tale. Without doubt she's going to be a name to watch for Rio in 2016. I wouldn't write off the Australians yet because they are good on floor and beam, but I don't think they will make up that gap. I think we can pretty much say that England's women will match the men and get gold."

  156. Gymnastics

They cannot do anything more now - it's sit and wait time for the English, with only Canada or Australia seemingly capable of beating them to gold now.

  158. Table tennis

  161. Shooting

    David Luckman

This looks a nice way to travel. Mind you, when you've just won your second gold medal then you deserve to move around in style...

In one of the more bizarre sights of these games - and in accordance with the tradition of the annual event which dates back to 1860 - after claiming gold in the full-bore rifle Queen's Prize individual event, England's David Luckman was carried to the medal ceremony by his opponents in a Sedan chair.

"That was as special as it gets. I've been looking to do this for a very long time," said Luckman, possibly referring to his victory rather than the chair ride.

Luckman, 38, competing at his first Commonwealth games, also took gold in the pairs on Saturday with team-mate Parag Patel.

  162. Shooting

English shooter Daniel Rivers' sporting hero is Sir Bradley Wiggins apparently. Now he has his hands on something that even the much-decorated cyclist hasn't got - a Commonwealth gold medal.

The 23-year-old added the top prize in the Men's 50m Rifle 3 to the bronze he won in the 10m Air Rifle on Friday.

"I didn't think it could get much better than the bronze, but it has," he says. "It's an amazing feeling.

"I felt really prepared going into this. The air rifle was a surprise, but this is my strongest event. I had it in hand, I knew what I was doing and I took my chance with both hands."

  163. Gymnastics

England's physios are being worked very hard today - particularly dealing with injured ankles. After Sam Oldham was taken for an MRI scan earlier, his team-mate Rebecca Downie also rolls her foot as he plonks her feet on the mat with a double pike from the vault. Someone get a bag of peas out of the freezer.

  164. Gold Medal

    Vinesh (India) - women's freestyle 48kg

Yana Rattigan has to settle for silver after being beaten by Vinesh of India at the SECC.

Rattigan, European silver medallist in 2013, trailed her opponent but fought back to be 11-8 down heading into the final 30 seconds, but her efforts were not enough for gold and her pain was evident as she broke down in tears.

    BBC Sport in Glasgow

"The Welsh dragon continues to roar in Glasgow. After a first women's medal in the pool for 40 years, now comes a first Commonwealth Games wrestling medal for Wales thanks to Craig Pilling.

"The 27-year-old has the flag of Wales draped around his shoulders in the Scottish Exhibition Conference Centre as he speaks in the media mixed zone in a broad Bolton accent of his pride at winning bronze.

"Pilling, a member of Bolton Olympic Wrestling Club, qualifies for Wales through his Cardiff-born mother and his joy is in stark contrast to the crushing disappointment on the face of his beaten opponent, England's Omar Tafail, who is fighting back tears."

Half-time at the National Hockey Centre, and Wales are heading for a fourth defeat out of four. For the most part, this has been a resolute display by Wales, but two moments of quality from South Africa have earned them a commanding lead. First Ignatius Malgraff finished brilliantly from a tight angle after a mazy dribble, and then Wales committed the cardinal sin of conceding a penalty corner on the stroke of half-time. George in London: On a weighted system of medal points. Any such system should not be concerned with the number of team members, but rather the number of discrete victories that built into the medal - for example Sir Ben Ainslie won a single medal for his efforts at London 2012, but that medal was won over numerous days of racing. Surely such events deserve more recognition than their briefer counterparts in order to counterbalance the opportunity to win numerous medals in quicker events?

So nine medal points say for large team (e.g. hockey) gold, six for doubles/quartet team gold, three for individual gold. Then 6-4-2 pattern for silver, 3-2-1 pattern for bronze. Yes, there's one in Hampden as the Welsh contingent cheer on Ben Gregory. He can't clear 5.10m but does enough to win the pole vault and climb up to sixth overall.

That's the athletics wrapped up for a short while, until the men's decathlon returns with the javelin at 18:30 BST. Time for a quick nap and some energy-packed pasta before then. That's the athletes, not you...

  207. Boxing

    Men's flyweight (52kg) quarter-final

    Ruairi Dalton and Andrew Moloney

Northern Ireland boxer Ruairi Dalton, who lost to Australia's Andrew Moloney, speaking on BBC One: "It was a bit of a slow start. No doubt I came off second best - I take my hat off to him. I came here and gave it 100%, and that's all I can do. This is an experience I'll remember until the day I die."

  208. Spot a royal

    Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

Canadian rugby sevens player Nate Hirayama on Twitter: Prince William and Kate Middleton strolling through the Athlete's Village. Kate was holding her iPod in her hand. I asked her what her favourite song was. She said "Royals" by Lorde then started LOLing.

  209. Netball

England netball player Serena Guthrie on Twitter: A good building performance out there today. #boxticked looking forward to another game tomorrow leading into the business end of #CWG2014

England beat Trinidad and Tobago 70-24 earlier today to go second in Pool B.

  210. Boxing

    Men's Super Heavyweight (+91kg) quarter-final

So, just to confirm the semi-final line up.

England's Joe Joyce, so impressive in his three-round destruction of Scotland's Ross Henderson, will be up against Mike Sekabembe, a Ugandan soldier who looked - and I believe this is the technical term - hard-as-nails in beating Ghana's Haruna Osumanu. That's at 15:00 BST on Friday.

In the other semi, Australia's Joseph Goodall faces Nigeria's Efe Ajagba.

All these chaps are guaranteed a medal, the question is which colour?

  211. Athletics

    Decathlon

Meanwhile, Ben Gregory's smile is wider than the River Clyde as he sails over the 5.00m bar. He gives it a finger wag in celebration and is now the only athlete in the middle of Hampden Park. Those hardy souls who are still watching, give him some raucous support. He's loving being the centre of attention.

  212. Shooting

    Men's trap final

Three-time Formula 1 champion Sir Jackie Stewart presents the medals at the Barry Buddon Sports Centre.

    Jackie Stewart

Long before he proved himself the fastest man on four wheels, Sir Jackie (pictured from 1973) was a prize-winning member of the Scottish shooting team, winning the British, Scottish and Welsh skeet shooting championships. He just missed out on representing GB at the 1960 Olympics in Rome.

Sir Jackie takes off his tartan cap as Australia's national anthem rings out to salute Adam Vella's gold medal performance.

  213. Athletics

    Decathlon

England's John Lane rushes through his final attempt in the pole vault, but cannot clear 5.00m. He is still in the silver medal position though with two events to come - javelin and 1500m. They're not his strongest events, so he faces an anxious wait to see if he's opened up a decent enough gap.

  214. Athletics

    Heptathlon

England heptathlete Jess Taylor on Twitter: WOW what a morning. The crowd have been incredible. Keep it up for tonight please. In the meantime. I need a power nap.

Taylor is currently in fourth place after two events.

  215. Hockey

    Men's latest - Australia 3-1 India

    Australia celebrate

Australia had looked like running away with this but a penalty corner goal from Rupinder Singh stopped their momentum just a bit.

We're still a long way off an upset, however. Australia recently beat the Netherlands 6-1 in The Hague to win the World Cup - which is the hockey version of beating Brazil 7-1 at football in Rio.

  216. Shooting

    Men's trap final

England and Australia are having a real ding-dong at the top of the medal table. The boys and girls from Down Under are leading the way and grab another gold at the expense of their nearest rivals.

England's Aaron Heading fails to defend his Commonwealth Games men's trap title after losing in the final to Australia's Adam Vella at the Barry Budden Shooting Centre.

India's Manavjit Sandhu claimed bronze in a sudden-death shoot off with Australia's Michael Diamond.

Smith and Whitlock's team-mate Sam Oldham sustained a serious ankle injury during the vault.

  219. Boxing

    Ben Dirs

    BBC Sport in Glasgow

"Big boys giving it bunches in the boxing ring is all very well but the best story of the day will come at 1530 BST, when Kiribati lightweight Taoriba Biniati will fight a woman for the first time ever. There will be a feature about her on the BBC Sport website not long after she boxes."

  220. Cycling - mountain bike

    Men's cross-country

Exciting stuff at the head of the race with three laps gone as it's now a four-horse race.

Previous leader Max Plaxton of Canada is one of them but no longer leads with Australian Daniel McConnell getting his nose in front.

Kiwis Anton Cooper and Samuel Graze are still in there fighting. The Scottish crowd are stretching their vocal chords to cheer on Grant Ferguson, who is seventh.

  221. Athletics

England's John Lane, third in the 2014 Commonwealth rankings, is having a problem with this dastardly height though. He fails at first attempt, cruises over at the second attempt, before Australia's Stephen Cain tickles the bar with his chest and that follows him down to the mat.

Canada's Damian Warner - third at last year's World Championships - is still leading the event, although these three are narrowing the gap as they battle for the podium.

  222. Athletics

All quiet at Hampden Park - which makes a change for the place which is known for housing thousands of screeching football fans. No sign of the 'Hampden Roar' at the moment with only the men's decathlon in action. Welshman Ben Gregory looks a confident dude, and backs up his pre-jump glare into the camera by clearing 4.90m.

  224. Boxing

    Men's Super Heavyweight (+91kg) quarter-final

    Barry McGuigan

BBC Sport boxing expert, on Radio 5 live

"A brilliant, tough and entertaining few rounds of boxing between Scotland's Ross Henderson and England's Joseph Joyce. The lighter boxers might struggle to get some real power behind them with the extra padding in the gloves, but these super heavyweights get some purchase.

"Henderson, who gave it absolutely everything, kept coming back for more even though he was on the end of some serious blows from Joyce. A technical knockout from Joyce did it in end and, although you can never tell in his weight division, Joyce looks good value to go all the way."

  225. Boxing

    Men's Super Heavyweight (+91kg) quarter-final

Well, that wasn't one for the faint-hearted. The home nations showdown between Scotland's Ross Henderson and England's Joseph Joyce was like a scene from Land of the Giants. These two are seriously big fellas.

Henderson hits the canvas three times in the opening two rounds, but like a real-life version of Rocky Balboa keeps coming back for more. The Scot has a giant heart but a fourth felling is too much for the referee - it's all over.

Easy win for Joyce in a very one-sided fight.

  226. Athletics

    Men's 800m heats

England runner Andrew Osagie on Twitter: Just waiting to hear the decision of our counter protest.. hopefully I get reinstated for tomorrow's semi finals.

Osagie was disqualified earlier after clashing with Joe Thomas at the end of his heat.

  227. Gymnastics

    Men's team final

More from the England lads following their comprehensive victory, which was marred by a serious ankle injury to Sam Oldham.

    Sam Oldham of England

"The last few months we've just been training so so hard, so this is for the whole team," says Kristian Thomas. "We don't know what Sam's situation is, but we just wish him all the best. I'm pretty sure he'll be fine, just give him a couple of weeks."

  228. Gymnastics

    Men's team final

England's Louis Smith on BBC One: "I think I've answered my critics who questioned my decision to return to the sport. Today has been a brilliant experience, despite what happened to Sam Oldham. We've loved being here at the Commonwealth Games."

  229. Cycling - mountain bike

    Men's cross-country

Max Plaxton is looking to follow in the tracks of Canadian team-mate of Catharine Prendel who won the women's race. The New Zealand pair of Anton Cooper and Samuel Gaze make a break but Plaxton closes to lead at the end of the first lap.

Rain in the air might make it interesting over the rocks and slates of the course which is a couple of miles outside Glasgow city centre. Northern Ireland's Roger Aiken punctures a front tyre. Deflating.

  230. Hockey

    Men's latest - Australia 2-0 India

World champions Australia made a slow start and were under pressure from some swift India attacking play, but given a chance from a penalty corner, the ruthless Aussies take advantage through Chris Ciriello's low drag flick.

That seems to spark the tournament favourites to life and moments later they are two up thanks to a fine team move finished off by Simon Orchard. It's looking ominous for India already.

Thompson and compatriot Keston Bledman were expected to contend for medals in the 100m, but both surprisingly failed to make the final. Qualification for the 4x100m relay begins on Friday morning.

  233. Gymnastics

    Men's team final

    Beth Tweddle

    BBC Sport gymnastics expert

"England have got the consistency, they've got the difficulty, they've got everything and that's reflected in their score. Scotland will be over the moon to have that team silver and it's a massive boost for Scottish gymnastics."

  234. Boxing

    Men's Flyweight (52kg) quarter-final

Northern Ireland's Ruairi Dalton shows guts and character in abundance against Australian Andrew Maloney, but sometimes that alone isn't enough.

So it proved as Maloney - who narrowly lost to eventual gold medallist Paddy Barnes four years ago in Delhi - lands the better punches and gets a unanimous verdict.

It's an impressive performance, and food for thought for home favourite Reece McFadden, who will face Maloney in the semi-final.

  235. Mountain bike

    Men's cross-country

It's the men's turn next to tackle the Cathkin Braes trail on their mountain bikes with their race just starting.

They will do one more lap than the women, making it a 37km marathon over a testing course littered with potential hazards.

Liam Killeen of England earned a late call-up to try and defend the title he won in 2006 with the event dropped from the 2010 Games.

Home support will be for Scotland's British champion Grant Ferguson, although the man they have to beat could be Australia's double Olympic champion Daniel O'Connell.

  236. Rugby Sevens

    Prince Harry

The Commonwealth Games on Twitter: Another amazing royal photobomb at #Glasgow2014 !!

You'll probably recognise Prince Harry, but did you get the man on the left? It's New Zealand rugby sevens coach Sir Gordon Tietjens.

  237. Silver Medal

    Scotland - Gymnastics - men's team final

The Scotland team of Dan Keatings, Dan Purvis, Frank Baines, Adam Cox and Liam Davie create history by winning their nation's first ever team gymnastics medal at the Commonwealth Games with a score of 257.603.

  238. #bbcglasgow2014

Andrew Osagie's controversial qualification has got you talking on Twitter at #bbcglasgow2014:

    Andrew Osagie

Isobel: Would disagree with that decision with the disqualification of Osagie. He was in the lead position.

David Kane: Clearly Osagie's fault. He comes across him, clipping the Kenyan guys heels in the process.

Ross Fraser: Osagie did run straight, straight into Thomas. Good decision from the officials.

  239. Gold Medal

    England - Gymnastics - men's team final

Broad smiles from England's Kristian Thomas, Louis Smith, Max Whitlock and Nile Wilson as they win gold in the men's team with a score of 266.804

But their thoughts will be with team-mate Sam Oldham who fell on the vault and is getting treatment.

  240. Boxing

    Men's Flyweight (52kg) quarter-final

Victory for Scotland's rising teenage star Reece McFadden in the quarter-final and he is guaranteed at least a bronze medal.

He beat Oteng Oteng in style, no mean feat as the man from Botswana won a bronze in Delhi. But if McFadden was daunted, he did a good job of hiding it. Whenever Oteng threw a punch, McFadden hit back with two or three.

The Glasgow crowd go wild as the decision is announced and the 19-year-old is through, where he face either Australia's Andrew Moloney or Ruairi Dalton of Northern Ireland.

  241. Athletics

    Men's 800m heats - Osagie disqualified

    Saj Chowdhury

    BBC Sport in Glasgow

Andrew Osagie disqualified. Prior to the announcement, Wales' Joe Thomas, who was involved in the incident at the end of the third 800m heat, stormed through the mixed zone, seemingly unhappy with what happened. But I did manage to speak to Osagie.

    Andrew Osagie and Joe Thomas

"I would say it wasn't his space," said the Englishman. "You can go round people on the outside. He tried to find a gap between me and another athlete. There wasn't a gap - you are only going to cause a collision and that happened."

  242. Athletics

Scotland 3,000m steeplechase runner Eilish McColgan on Twitter: How stressful were those 800s?

    Men's 25m rapid fire pistol

    England's Kristian Callaghan

England's Kristian Callaghan wins bronze in the 25m rapid fire pistol behind Australia's David Chapman and Harpreet Singh of India.

  244. Boxing

    Men's Flyweight (52kg) quarter-final

Scotland's Reece McFadden believes "gold is my medal" - and it's no surprise he is confident given he beat the world's top amateur flyweight Andrew Selby on Friday and followed it on Sunday with a unanimous decision over England's Charlie Edwards.

The 19-year-old starts well, winning the opening round against Oteng Oteng on all the judge's cards. But he's picked up a little cut above his left eye - could that prove a problem?

  245. Athletics

    Heptathlon - high jump

    Brianne Theisen-Eaton

Canada's gold medal favourite Brianne Theisen-Eaton (wife of American decathlete Ashton Eaton) overtakes compatriot Jessica Zelinka at the top of the standings after winning the high jump with a leap of 1.75m.

England's Jess Tappin and Jess Taylor remain third and fourth, and Grace Clements moves up two places to sixth after an excellent high jump.

  246. Boxing

    Men's Flyweight (52kg) quarter-final

Scotland's Reece McFadden gets a huge roar as he enters the ring ahead of his quarter-final bout with Oteng Oteng. Is the man from Botswana so good they named him twice?

McFadden - and the crowd - hope not. The first round bell sounds, we're under way. Watch live coverage of the boxing here.

  247. Athletics

    Men's 800m heats - Osagie disqualified

He says he has not done anything wrong in his altercation with Joe Thomas (13:13), but the officials do not agree as Andrew Osagie is disqualified from the men's 800m heats. It means Thomas is promoted to third place in the race.

    Andrew Osagie

But this one is not finished yet, England are bound to appeal. The irony is both men would have qualified for Wednesday's semi-finals if Osagie had not been disqualified.

The Englishman would have qualified automatically and Thomas would have been one of the fastest losers.

  248. Mountain Bike

    Women's cross-country

A flag-waving Catharine Pendrel crosses the line to take gold by more than a minute at the end of what was virtually a solo 32km ride. And with team-mate Emily Batty breaking away on the final lap it means Canada will fill the top two places on the podium.

    Catharine Pendrel

Australia's Rebecca Henderson wins bronze. England's Annie Last produced a storming final lap to overhaul team-mate Alice Barnes to take fourth.

  249. Athletics

    Men's 800m

    Andrew Osagie

England's Andrew Osagie and Joe Thomas of Wales have a few cross words at the end of the third heat after the pair collide while desperately trying to grab the third qualifying place.

Osagie, who ended up on the track just after crossing the line and finishing third, ahead of Thomas in fourth, tells BBC One that he didn't do anything wrong.

"He shouted at me at the end saying 'what was I doing', but I was running as straight as I can," says Osagie. "There wasn't a gap there. A similar thing happened to me in the trials and that's why I had a problem with my hamstring as I got caught a couple of times then."

The stewards don't agree. Osagie is thrown out of the competition.

  252. Mountain bike

    Women's cross-country

With one lap to go, Canada's Catharine Pendrel has extended her lead to one minute, 47 seconds - although she did briefly dis-mount to check out her back tyre.

The real race is on for silver with barely a wheel between Emily Batty and Rebecca Henderson as Australia's Henderson battles to prevent a Canadian one-two.

England's Alice Barnes is still fourth but riding a lonely race.

  257. Athletics

    Decathlon - discus

After seven of ten events, Canada's Jeremy Warner is the runaway leader in the decathlon. But there's an almighty scrap on for the silver medal.

    John Lane

England's John Lane (pictured) was in second after the first day, but Grenada's Kurt Felix improved his personal best in the discus by four metres to overhaul Lane by a slender margin of 12 points.

Lane's team-mate Ashley Bryant is currently in fourth, but both have strong events coming up, so they could yet improve on their positions.

  258. Women's cross-country

It's a bit of a procession at the head of the first mountain biking race as only a serious crash or a broken bike looks likely to deny Canadian Catharine Pendrel gold. She leads by one minute, 26 seconds at the half-way stage.

There is a race on for second, though, between Australian Rebecca Henderson and Canadian Emily Batty who are still locked together.

English teenager Alice Barnes is fourth but with a big gap to close to take a medal. Team-mate Annie Last remains fifth with Scotland's Lee Craigie still sixth.

    David Weir

Weir, who is making his Commonwealth Games debut, opened up a sizeable gap midway through the final lap to finish in three minutes 28.23 seconds, well clear of Australia's Richard Colman and Canada's Josh Cassidy.

The second heat went to Australia's Kurt Fearnley (3:19.64) with English teenager Will Smith also through to the final after finishing third but there is drama on the final lap when Ghana's Patrick Obeng clips the kerb and takes a tumble when in contention for a final place.

It was a question that had to be asked. On Monday we had Nick Matthew v James Willstrop, who aren't the best of friends, in the men's squash final - today it was another English pair, Greg Rutherford and Chris Tomlinson in the long jump qualifying.

Earlier this year, Rutherford set a new British record of 8.51m to shatter the previous mark held jointly with Tomlinson by 16cm. Tomlinson said the new record should not have stood because it was a foul jump. So do they still speak to each other?

"We do talk and congratulate one other," said Tomlinson. "Rivalries are good. We want to beat each other. There's no harshness there. There are a few guys I have fractured relationships with though."

Here's more from an emotional Andy Turner, who said that this could be his last season in athletics after crashing out of the 110m hurdles.

The Delhi 2010 champion told a busy press area backstage at Hampden Park: "This is one of the most devastating days. I'll go to the Europeans, but I've been thinking about calling it a day for a while.

"This could be my last season. I've had a good innings and been around for 10 years. I do feel well in myself, but there comes a time when you start thinking about other things."

It's all over at the SECC, and England have completed a comfortable victory. A superb first quarter set the tone for an excellent performance characterised by their dominance in mid-court. Reaction - England 1-2 New Zealand

England captain Barry Middleton remains optimistic despite a defeat by New Zealand that leaves them facing a likely semi-final against world champions Australia.

Simon Childs scores the winner for New Zealand

"It's not the end of the world," he said. "It's not like we are in the final, we still have a few games to play.

"It would be nice to beat the favourites, wouldn't it? People try to avoid the best team but if we have to play them, so be it. We still have to make it to the semi-final and if it is Australia we'll give it all we got."

  281. Athletics

    Men's long jump

Greg Rutherford is happy with his qualification for the long jump final. He tells BBC One: "I came in and said 'I wanted one jump to get into the final', so I'm really happy.

    Greg Rutherford

"It was chilly this morning, so I was wearing long tights. I feel confident and happy. Now it's onwards to tomorrow and hopefully another good performance.

"It was an amazing reception from the crowd, they were out of this world. It's always nice to take a few photos with people, although I was getting pulled away. But it's lovely to try and give back to the people that watch athletics and get some interaction with them."

    Men's long jump

Nicole has done well to get that picture of herself with Olympic long jump gold medallist Greg Rutherford (see 11:23).

The Englishman, who qualified for tomorrow's final after his first jump, was trying to pose for photographs and sign autographs for members of the crowd, despite the attempts of one of the stadium officials who repeatedly tried, and failed, to usher him away from the general public.

  283. Swimming

    Men's 200m individual medley

Scotland's Dan Wallace qualifies second-quickest behind Australian Daniel Tranter for the 200m individual medley, with England's Roberto Pavoni and Joe Roebuck also through to tonight's final and South Africa's Chad le Clos set to be lurking in a lane out wide after qualifying seventh.

  284. Athletics

    Men's 110m hurdles

Andy Turner may be out of the men's 110m hurdles but fellow English hurdlers William Sharman and Lawrence Clarke book their spots into tonight's final.

During Sharman's heat, he clashes with Ryan Brathwaite, who is in the lane next to him.

"I was trying to go past him and I was getting caught by his arm," Sharman tells BBC One. "But it was not worth pushing it as I didn't want to fall over."

Former Commonwealth 5,000m champion Paula Radcliffe speaking on BBC One says: "All credit to Andy, he was really honest. It's really gutting and it will have totally knocked the stuffing out of him."

After failing to finish his first-round race England's Andy Turner, who won Commonwealth gold in Delhi four years ago, says on BBC One: "I got too close to the first hurdle and if you make a mistake like that, it's really difficult to come back. It was a schoolboy error, I'm an absolute idiot.

"I felt really good, training had gone really well and I ran well at the Anniversary Games last week. I'm really disappointed to not put on a good show. It was shocking. There's no excuse. I didn't run well."

Defending champion Andy Turner is sitting on the track in tears after a horrible time gets worse. Drawn in lane seven, he hits the first hurdle and then crashes into the second one. He is out of the race.

He nearly quit athletics after his mother died late last year. To make things even worse, when he was attending the funeral, he was burgled and in his words "lost everything".

Woman's Hour on BBC Radio 4 has a women's sport special live from the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Ruth Holdaway, chief executive of Women's Sport and Fitness Foundation says: "The Commonwealth Games, like the Olympics, is a fantastic showcase. But there are major barriers still for women participating in sport. We know that four in five women are not doing enough exercise.

"By the age of 15 only 8% of girls are active enough. Women tell us they feel that being hot and sweaty and running around isn't feminine. Our role models do make a difference but the reality is that most young girls feel embarrassed at school when they take part in sport."

    Kemar Bailey-Cole (C) of Jamaica

Darren Campbell explains why the winning time for the 100m last night failed to dip below 10 seconds. New champion Kemar Bailey-Cole ran 10 seconds flat, while five athletes, including the Jamaican, went under 10 seconds at the 2013 World Championships in Moscow.

"The simple truth is that it was cold," Campbell, a relay gold medallist at the 2004 Olympics, told BBC Sport. "It's not like they go out on to the track in their tracksuits all warmed up. They are standing around doing all that introduction stuff as the camera pans along and then they race.

"Sprinters' hamstrings are like F1 engines, they need to be heated up to work at their best."

    Denise Lewis

  300. Athletics

    Men's long jump

A perfect start to the day for Olympic long jump champion Greg Rutherford. With his first jump at Hampden Park he secures automatic qualification to the final.

The qualification mark is 7.90m and Rutherford's first jump is 8.05m. Job done for Rutherford. He can go back to the athletes' village and go back to bed.

England team-mate Chris Tomlinson records a distance of 7.89m with his first effort. With 12 men going through to the final, that may well be enough to claim a place in Wednesday's final, but he gets to have another go anyway.

Women's Hour on BBC Radio 4

Woman's Hour on BBC Radio 4 has a women's sport special live from the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Fiona Hathorn from Women On Boards says: "I looked at one newspaper today and counted the number of male faces in the sports section. There were 26. There were only six females, and two of those were sitting next to Prince Harry."

Minister for Sport Helen Grant says: "There is a debate about women's' sport now and they are becoming stars. Our cricketers are doing well, our footballers too, but it comes back to media coverage. The broadcasters have upped their game since London 2012 but we do need to do more. The print media are lagging behind."

They have currently won a total of 33 medals, the total they ended up with the last time the event was held in Scotland - in Edinburgh in 1986.

Who will win their 34th medal? Stay tuned, it may well happen today.

  339. Scotland's successes

Here is the Scottish roll of honour.

  340. Scotland the Brave

Scotland had never won more than 11 Commonwealth Games gold medals in the history of the competition.

    Libby Clegg

Well, after five days in Glasgow, that figure has already been beaten. The Scottish side started yesterday on 11 golds, before the men's bowls pairing of Alex Marshall and Paul Foster triumphed in the pairs event.

But things then got even better for the hosts as Libby Clegg and guide Mikail Huggins won Scotland's first athletics gold of 2014 as they triumphed in the T11/12 100m sprint race.
