Barnsley 1-1 Doncaster Rovers

Barnsley and Doncaster shared the spoils in their South Yorkshire derby.

Hourihane had two chances to make it 2-0 and Leroy Lita went close, while Ross Turnbull made great saves from Donny's Theo Robinson and Kyle Bennett.

Robinson levelled by putting away his own rebound after a well-worked move, while Bennett missed a late chance to win it for the visitors.

The home side's point sees them climb above Port Vale into 14th, while Doncaster remain 16th and behind Barnsley on goal difference, with both sides now on 23 points.

Luke Berry had the game's first chance for the home side, but saw his deflected shot tipped round the post by Sam Johnstone.

Nyatanga's first goal of the season put Barnsley ahead, before Hourihane went close twice in eight minutes as he fired a free-kick wide and his low shot just missed the far post, while Lita's volley was kept out by Johnstone.

Doncaster ended the half strong and Robinson was denied twice in the space of four minutes by Turnbull.

The 29-year-old keeper had an inspired spell against the club he only left in the summer, as he also kept out Bennett's 25-yard effort.

After the break, James Coppinger set up Robinson who beat Turnbull at the second attempt to tie the game at 1-1.

Doncaster had the better of a scrappy second half and Bennett should have done better with a clear sight of goal, while Nyatanga put a free header wide for Barnsley as neither side were able to find a winner.
