Plans for a new £333m Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre have been approved by the full council.

Henry Boot Developments is behind the project to replace the existing Bridge-of Don AECC, at a site in the Dyce area.

Council leader Jenny Laing said: "The new AECC represents a significant, but very affordable, investment for the city."

The plan includes two hotels. The current site would be used for housing.

Councillors unanimously backed the business case for the new AECC, near Aberdeen International Airport.

The hotels, plus a business park and green energy plant, are aimed at offsetting the costs.
