On to derby delight
On to tomorrow, then, and Manchester City versus Manchester United is the standout fixture.
The derby was a fixture to forget for the red half of Manchester last season, as they lost both home and away, but you sense they will fancy their chances this time, with City finding themselves in a poor run of form at the moment.
Robbie Savage feels defeat for City could all but end their title hopes. United will want revenge for last season's defeats.
Whichever way you look at it, it's a big game.

Saturday round-up
Time for a quick recap of today's big talking points.
Alexis Sanchez put in arguably the performance of the day by scoring two goals as Arsenal beat Burnley 3-0, while league leaders Chelsea continued their unbeaten run by beating QPR 2-1, but the Blues produced a less-than-vintage performance.
Earlier, Liverpool suffered their fourth defeat of the season with a 1-0 loss at Newcastle while Everton failed to score for the first time in the Premier League this season as they were held by 10-man Swansea.
Match reports, reaction and videos are all on the football section of the BBC Sport website now.

"All the question marks Southampton faced at the beginning of the season when everyone was writing them off will have motivated the players who stayed. It creates a mentality of 'we'll show you lot' and although Ronald Koeman gets a lot of credit, it's the players on the pitch who have produced for him."

Elijah Handley: I have said in the past that Southampton can't be considered genuine contenders for the top four until they stay consistent past the 10-game mark. 10 games in and they're in second. They are contenders and can see them finishing above at least one of Arsenal, United and Liverpool at the moment. Fair play to Koeman.
Jason MacDonald: I'm not a Southampton fan but they are starting to suggest they aren't just pace setters. Little clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool must wonder if they can reach such heights.
Gary Watson: Southampton are doing a Swansea, remember last season? The only good thing is they are putting a nice cushion between Chelsea and Man City at the top of the league. But they will fall away come January by which time Chelsea will have practically won the title.

Chelsea 2-1 QPR
Former Tottenham striker Garth Crooks
Final Score
"If Chelsea had played a better side they would have dropped points today. They had another gear and only called on it when they needed it. But I think what Jose Mourinho wants is a higher standard on a regular basis, and he is entitled to want that.
"I love the way Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic play together, and now Oscar is coming into the mix too. Manchester City cannot afford to lose tomorrow, otherwise they are out of it."

Newcastle 1-0 Liverpool

Final Score
"I've played for Alan Pardew and as all-rounder - a manager and a coach - he is one of the better ones. He is innovative in the dressing room and has got those Newcastle players playing for him and playing for each other. But I asked Newcastle fans what it would take for them to start singing his name. They said they never would. Even if they finished in the top four? They said it just would not happen."
GOAL
Bournemouth 2-1 Brighton - Marc Pugh

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey: "Good win and performance, on another day we may have scored more. Big welcome back to Theo Walcott, great to have you back mate!"
Post update
Newcastle 1-0 Liverpool
Former England defender Danny Mills
Final Score
"I think Liverpool will struggle to make the top four. Defensively last year they were very poor. They ended up with the ninth or 10th best defensive record - that is ultimately why they did not win the league last season. And then the fact they came so close means everybody is a little bit flat.
"Steven Gerrard is getting older, Mario Balotelli has come in and I think it was a massive gamble that appears to have backfired. He is not a team player. And maybe Brendan Rodgers has to find a different way of playing if he is going to continue with him."
Post update
Newcastle 1-0 Liverpool
Former Tottenham striker Garth Crooks
Final Score
"Last season if Brendan Rodgers had not been so cavalier away to Crystal Palace the league title might have finished with another story, but in terms of this season I think he was unlucky to lose Daniel Sturridge to injury.
"However, Rodgers is where he is and I don't think Liverpool should panic. They are on course for a top-four place. No they are not playing great but it is not doom and gloom. Get Sturridge fit and there are goals."
Manager reaction
Leicester 0-1 West Brom
West Brom manager Alan Irvine: "It means a lot. It is a difficult place to come to and we are the first team to win here. We had to cope with the pressure they put you under and we had to pass the ball. I'm really pleased with the performance.
"It was a complete team performance. We needed a threat up front and we did that. At the back we were solid against some really difficult forwards to play against.
"Three points. Clean sheet. It's a great feeling for us and it gives us a platform to go into the next game - Newcastle at home - which will be really difficult for us.
"I said all along it was going to take a bit of time, but it was important to find the best way of playing for our group of players and we are getting closer to that."
GOAL

Everton 0-0 Swansea
Everton boss Roberto Martinez:
"You want to win the game. You are looking at statistics before the sending off for Swansea and we were in control.
"I'm disappointed by the game as I thought it was going to be more of a spectacle but it didn't turn out to be. I thought we were a little frustrated.
"Overall, it was a good clean sheet because you can leave yourselves exposed. Maybe our tempo in possession was not as sharp as it could have been.
"I haven't seen the replay (of the alleged handball from Antolin Alcaraz).
"Alcaraz is injured and going to be out for a long time. It is a problem with a joint in his shoulder. It is one of those awkward accidents that happens in football and we wish him well."

Bournemouth have weathered that early storm and are just starting to control matters now. They are still to test Ali Al-Habsi in the Brighton goal, however, with the on-loan Wigan man's only action of note racing off his line to kick clear Matt Ritchie's high ball.
Manager reaction
Stoke 2-2 West Ham
Stoke manager Mark Hughes is angry that West Ham midfielder Alex Song was not penalised by referee Chris Foy for a challenge on Mame Biram Diouf in the build-up to the visitors' first goal.
He tells BBC Sport: "It was dangerous play. It was reckless. We're grateful that Diouf jumped out of the way, because it could have been a nasty collision.
"The referee should come down on challenges like that - he needed to stop play, but apparently he was trying to play an advantage, which we didn't get. But it's not the first time we've been disappointed by a referee this season.
"I think everybody at the game knows who were the better side, and who created the most chances. Unfortunately, sport doesn't always give the spoils to the team who deserve it."
Hughes, asked if the dropping of points has spoilt his 51st birthday today: "Very much so. We should be celebrating, because our performance deserved maximum points."
"Foxes shouldn't flap"
Leicester 0-1 West Brom
Former Tottenham striker Garth Crooks
Final Score
"A dose of realism is important for Leicester but I don't think they should lose their nerve. If they can pick up four or five points between now and Christmas they are back in it. If you look at the teams around them, Everton have 13 points, Tottenham have 11 points, and Leicester have nine. These are good sides. Keep your nerve and you could be all right."
Manager reaction
Leicester 0-1 West Brom
Leicester manager Nigel Pearson: "It took an own goal to separate the sides today and that is an indicator of how small the margins are.
"I have to look back at the game and rue the fact we didn't make enough of some situations. That is how it is going for us at the moment.
"We can't get too wrapped up in the negativity that some people throw in our direction. When you have setbacks in life you have to take a look at what is actually going on.
"We feel we have a lot of quality within the squad and that is in all positions. Today we were slightly unlucky.
"We have some really good highs and we have had some lows. Days like today are frustrating experiences.
"I know what we are capable off and I'm still very confident, given a little bit more time, we will make sure we maximize our quality."

"Southampton have slipped into second in the table while remaining under the radar, without our full attention. But they are doing extremely well. They have momentum and are keeping their form going - and now they do have our full attention. They have such a good spirit in the team and therein lies their success."
Manager reaction
Chelsea 2-1 QPR
QPR manager Harry Redknapp to BBC Sport: "I thought it was a harsh penalty that won it for Chelsea. It was a shoulder to shoulder charge and our guy was a bit stronger than the Chelsea guy, who went over.
"We played well against Liverpool and we've played well against Chelsea. But to get no points from the two games is obviously disappointing. However, there's lots of positives. We showed a great attitude and I think we have got enough to stay in this division."
Manager reaction
Arsenal 3-0 Burnley
Burnley manager Sean Dyche: "There is a reality to our challenge and that is not the reality, that is the top end of the market. They are a high quality side. They create chances and it could have been more but that is just by the nature of the quality of their players.
"We had been solid before Tom Heaton had to make great saves but after they scored they opened the game up. They get in great passing lanes, they have a great shape, they have pace, power and energy but they also have tactical awareness.
"It not just about one win. We need more than one win, make no mistake. It has to be. That is the challenge. The improvements are marginal it is the learning curve, it is a high state of learning in the Premier League."
On two-goal Alexis Sanchez: "I was saying to Danny Ings, look at players like Alexis Sanchez. He will fight, run and tackle when he needs to. But that is top end of the market players."
Post update
Stoke 2-2 West Ham
Former England defender Danny Mills
Final Score
"There was a lot of controversy in the game, but especially so for the first goal. Alex Song went steaming into a challenge and it was so late that the referee says play on almost because it was so late - the Stoke player jumps just over him. West Ham went up the field and got one back, and after that they were in the ascendency and looked like they might even get a winner."
Manager reaction
Everton 0-0 Swansea
Swansea manager Garry Monk:
"All in all it was a well earned point.
"It was a cheap yellow which Jonjo Shelvey (who was sent off) gave away for the first booking. I explained it to him but he is a clever lad and understands that when you are on a yellow you can't make those kind of challenges."
On being denied a penlty for an apparent handball by Everton defender Antolin Alcaraz: "I didn't know you were supposed to play with two keepers.
"I'd be very pleased if my keeper pulled off a save like that. We didn't get it so what can I say?
"I'm extremely proud of my team - the way they dug in for such a long period. They deserve that point for the effort they put in."

Jill in Leamington: Chelsea will have such a hard choice for their Player of the Year. Who do you choose from Courtois, Costa, Oscar, Fabregas, Matic, Hazard and there's still time for the other players to make their mark!

Hull 0-1 Southampton
Victor Wanyama has given Match of the Day's Alistair Mann a colourful description of his wonder strike which gave Southampton a 1-0 win at Hull.

League Two round-up
Wycombe Wanderers fought back from a goal down to beat Oxford and return to the top of the table at the expense of Luton, whose seven-match winning run ended as they were pegged back 1-1 by Exeter.
Burton Albion's first game since manager Gary Rowett's departure to Birmingham ended in a 1-1 draw with Plymouth. That result allowed Shrewsbury to move into the top three after they beat Dagenham and Redbridge courtesy of a Liam Lawrence penalty with the last kick of the game.

QPR boss Harry Redknapp thinks that the penalty decision against his side was 'harsh.'

Manager reaction
Stoke 2-2 West Ham
West Ham manager Sam Allardyce, speaking to BBC Sport: "When you're 2-0 down away from home anywhere in the Premier League, getting anything is a terrific comeback. For us, that's what it had to be.
"It wasn't that we weren't trying, but we couldn't get our passing game going - partly because of the conditions, and partly because Stoke were doing a good job on us.
"I always thought there was a goal in us. We changed the shape of the team and went for it, knowing we'd either lose 3-0 or get it back to 2-1, at which point Stoke might get nervous.
"Stewart Downing scored with his right foot. People think he's all left foot, and he isn't. We moved him into the middle from the wing, and he made a terrific difference."
Manager reaction
Arsenal 3-0 Burnley
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger: "It was a question of patience and quality and I think we did all of that. It was important not to concede a goal and in the end it was a comfortable win but everyone works hard in the Premier League.
"It was a top performance from Alexis Sanchez. His quality is exceptional, he takes responsibility and goes at people. He fights, he can score, that is what you want from great players.
"That appearance form Theo Walcott gives him the confidence to play again. I think he will soon be back to his best level."
League One round-up
Unbeaten Bristol City marched on at the top of the table as Kieran Agard's decisive strike ended Oldham's 13-match unbeaten run. The Robins are now five points clear of nearest challengers Preston, who slipped to a 3-0 defeat at Rochdale.
An arguably even more impressive result was achieved by Scunthorpe, who climbed off the bottom with a 2-1 win at Peterborough. Walsall also sealed an eye-catching away victory against promotion hopefuls Notts County.

Bournemouth v Brighton (17:15 GMT)
That's your lot for Premier League action, but if that leaves a football-shaped hole in your Saturday then there is Bournemouth versus Brighton in the Championship.
Bournemouth, who beat Birmingham 8-0 last weekend, have won seven of their last eight games in all competitions. Brighton have won only one of their last 12 games.
We'll have updates from that game here.
Championship round-up
Watford opened up a two-point gap at the top of the table, coming from behind to beat Millwall 3-1. The Hornets leapfrogged previous leaders Derby following the Rams' dramatic defeat at Brentford, who came from behind to win 2-1 thanks to a last-minute Stuart Dallas goal.
Leeds' latest managerial change failed to improve results, as Neil Redfearn oversaw a 3-1 defeat at Cardiff. It was also a losing start for new Blackpool boss Lee Clark, whose side were defeated 2-0 at home by Ipswich.
Middlesbrough moved into the second automatic promotion spot with a 3-0 win at Rotherham, while Wigan and Fulham shared the points - and six goals - in a thriller at the DW Stadium.
Huddersfield cruised to a 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest, whose fine start to the season seems a very distant memory, and Blackburn beat Reading 3-1 at Ewood Park.

Player reaction
Arsenal 3-0 Burnley
Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton, speaking to BBC Sport: "It is frustrating. We are desperate for a win but I think we went about the game well. We restricted them to few chances for up to 70 minutes. There are things we can learn from today and hopefully that puts us in a good shape going forward.
"Everyone is giving everything they have to get a result. If we keep doing what we have been doing we are confident, but it is about not letting the gap get too big."
Player reaction
Stoke 2-2 West Ham
West Ham winger Stewart Downing, who created the first and scored the second to inspire a comeback from 2-0 down: "The manager gave us a rocket a half-time, but I'm sure he would be happy with a point at the end of that.
"We would probably have lost that game last season by two or three goals. But if you can pick up points on the road when you are not playing well, that's always a bonus."
Ten games in
"Judge me after 10 games" managers often say. Well we are 10 games in so Ronald Koeman, you are very, very good indeed.
Who had Southampton and West Ham in their top five at this stage of the season? I don't believe you!

Lisa: Real struggle at Stamford Bridge today but titles can be won in ugly games like this. Three points are three points.
Charlie, London: Alan Irvine and West Brom have managed to do what Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool haven't. They've bought 12 new players and are ahead of Spurs and one point behind Liverpool.
Dan, Malvern: Every goal Alexis Sanchez scores adds another £2.5m to the bid we'll receive from Manchester City next summer. You know, like with every other good player we had over the past few seasons...

Tough task ahead for Swansea now as Jonjo Shelvey receives his second booking when he hauls down Ross Barkley midway inside the away side's half. No doubt about it and referee Kevin Friend brandishes a yellow and then red card for Shelvey.
GOAL
Chelsea 2-1 QPR - Eden Hazard (Pen 75 mins)

GOAL
Arsenal 1-0 Burnley - Alexis Sanchez (70 mins)
That earlier chance was merely a brief let-off for Burnley as Alexis Sanchez heads Arsenal into the lead. Calum Chambers lifts a cross towards the far post and Sanchez gets ahead of Kieran Trippier to nod beyond Tom Heaton's dive.
CLOSE!
Arsenal 0-0 Burnley
Great chance for Arsenal!
Calum Chambers gets round the back to latch onto Alexis Sanchez's lofted through ball, he gets a toe to the ball ahead of Burnley keeper Tom Heaton and the ball runs loose across the six yard box with the goal gaping. It looks like a certain goal for Santi Cazorla, but Michael Duff throws himself in the way of the Spaniard's shot. A goal-saving block.

A terrible, terrible goal to concede. Big Sam will be tearing lumps out of his left-back Aaron Cresswell after this. It comes from a Stoke goal-kick which is lumped downfield, Cresswell switches off and Jon Walters gets the better of him to win the ball, he then puts over a cross to the near post where the onrushing Mame Biram Diouf heads home. If Nemanja Matic could score a few goals you'd have to put him right up there in terms of central midfielders. He dominates games single-handedly at times, beating three QPR men for fun, turning out of a cul-de-sac with ease. He walks through games.

Alexis Sanchez. If he is not creating chances, he is getting on the end of them. Santi Cazorla spots the Chilean in space on the left and splits the defence with a pass to send his team-mate away. Sanchez runs into the area and tries to curl beyond Tom Heaton, but again the Burnley keeper does well to push the ball away.
This is starting to turn into the Alexis Sanchez show.

Victor Moses. Pinball wizard.

"Liverpool were caught out there. A quick move down the left and I thought Glenn Johnson should have come across. The ball got a fortunate rebound to Ayoze Perez, who was no more than six yards out, and he thumped the ball. Simon Mignolet had no chance of saving it."
GOAL
Newcastle 1-0 Liverpool - Ayoze Perez (73 mins)
Out of nothing! It looked like being a 0-0 all day long but Newcastle craft out an opener, with the aid of some more rank defending.
Paul Dummett puts over a cross from the left. Liverpool full-back Alberto Moreno reads it well to cut it out, but then takes a heavy touch to allow Ayoze Perez to steal in and smash home from close range.
Moreno did not have that much time...

Luton Town find themselves in their loftiest league position for several seasons - and their fans will feel they've earned it after a taxing few years. Seven straight wins have taken the Hatters to the top of the table, and they travel to Exeter today in search of victory number eight. Third-placed Burton Albion begin life after Gary Rowett, who left to become Birmingham manager this week, with a home match against a Plymouth side that have won five out of their last six. "The goalscoring exploits of West Ham's Diafra Sakho have quite rightly earned him many headlines since his August move from French club Metz. To score in seven successive matches - six in six in the Premier League - is a terrific start to his time at Upton Park.
"Sakho is a doubt for today, though, and if he is absent then the Britannia Stadium crowd may again struggle to see goals. Amazingly, only six goals (three for Stoke, three for their opponents) have been scored there in the league so far this season, and that is the lowest total for a venue in all four English divisions.
"The Hammers have won their last three in a row but they have kept only one clean sheet in the Premier League this season. It's an intriguing match to predict and one I am looking forward to tremendously."

"Eighteenth-Century English poet Alexander Pope once wrote: "Blessed is he who expects nothing, for he shall never be disappointed."
"His words are now becoming more and more applicable to fans of second-placed Southampton. Manager Ronald Koeman knows he has to manage the expectation and, having also guided his side to a League Cup quarter-final this week, his side will arrive at Hull with confidence soaring.
"However, Hull City have their own reasons for wanting to plant a seed of doubt in Southampton minds. October has demonstrated the Tigers' stoic resolve, remaining unbeaten despite awkward trips to the Emirates and, most-recently, Anfield.
"Their propensity to give up winning positions has been their Achilles heel and is the significant reason why they've drawn five of their last eight league games."

"Everton are back on track and in search of a third successive league win - form which has coincided with the returns of both Seamus Coleman and Ross Barkley.

"It's true Chelsea have a recent sticky record against QPR, and Jose Mourinho's men did make hard work of the Capital Cup tie at Shrewsbury on the back of an arduous draw at Old Trafford.
"But they've looked imperious at home. They've easily been the best side in the Premier League this season. This has to be a banker home win. Chelsea are unbeaten at the Bridge against promoted sides in 13 years and 40 matches.
"Charlie Austin is in good form for QPR and I just can't see them holding out. Chelsea should have too much penetration and movement between the lines."

Arsenal v Burnley (15:00 GMT)
Steve Wilson
BBC Match of the Day commentator Emirates Stadium
"One of the things often said about the Premier League is that anyone can beat anyone else on their day. They trot that one out along with the "there are no easy games in international football" line. Well, believe me, I'm trying, and I love a good upset as much as anyone, but it's hard to see Burnley winning at Arsenal.
"The Gunners are the only team in the Premier League yet to suffer a home league defeat in 2014. If Burnley don't win on Saturday they will join a small and ignominious band of Premier League teams to go 10 or more games without winning from the start of a season."

"Regarding Mario Balotelli, you think of Luis Suarez, his goals were frightening last season. Any player who came in after him was going to find it hard. Mario needs to work hard and put it about, he hasn't done that.
"He seems to be snatching at a lot of chances. Liverpool fans are knowledgeable and will be patient with Mario, but they will expect him to work harder. But it isn't all about him."

"I don't get it when people say players need to work harder and they will improve. For me that is a natural requirement, and when you spend £16m on a striker he has to score goals.
"On the pitch, Mario Balotelli looks like he thinks he is a great player without doing that much. He has to stop thinking about himself and start thinking about the team."

BBC Sport's Saj Chowdhury reports: "You can imagine then singing "Walking in a Pardew Wonderland" in about a month's time. Well...
"I have spoken to 10 of the Magpies faithful - five wanted Alan Pardew out, despite the team having not lost in the league in October and having secured a quarter-final place in the League Cup.
"It was worse for owner Mike Ashley, with seven stating they wanted the sports retail magnate, who now has a 10% stake in Rangers, to also leave.
"James Anderson of Newcastle said: "The results aren't good enough. You look at the results over the last few years. Since we finished fifth it hasn't been good enough. The team, the structure, the fans and the ground we have - it's not good enough.
"Ashley's made it clear he wants to go to Rangers - he wants out as soon as they get to the Champions League. The sooner the better."

Real and Pascoe?
Newcastle v Liverpool (12:45 GMT)
BBC Radio 5 live
What's going on a Liverpool then? Torn apart by Real Madrid last week, the Reds are nine points off league leaders Chelsea and have lost their last two Champions League group games.
Goalkeeper Simon Mignolet and striker Mario Balotelli have come under fire in recent weeks, but do the problems start in the backroom?
Former Fulham boss Rene Meulensteen - a member of Manchester United's coaching staff under Sir Alex Ferguson - believes Brendan Rodgers should have strengthened his backroom team after the Reds secured a Champions League return after finishing second in the Premier League last season.
"Brendan has obviously got people around him who he obviously thinks are the right ones," Meulensteen told 5 live.
"But I think he could have done with someone who has been there, seen it and done it.
"Playing in the Premier League and the Champions League, it's a different rhythm that requires a different style of training and a different management strategy through the week. You need to know these things."
You see, it's all down to assistant manager Colin Pascoe...

Thibaut v the Blues
Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has spoken about how hard it was to face the Blues in the Champions League while on loan at Atletico Madrid last season. Being interviewed on Football Focus, Courtois said: "Yes - (it was ) not easy - even before the games there were rumours that Chelsea didn't want me to play, so Fifa and Uefa told me that I had to play and I couldn't fake injury or anything - so it was not easy.
"At that moment I was an Atletico Madrid player and obviously I like Chelsea and when I'm not playing against them - yeah I hope they win everything - but when you are in the Super Cup or the Champions League, obviously you want to win with your team."

There's no Stan Collymore, Robbie Fowler, Sir Les of Ferdinand, Tino Asprilla, Kevin Keegan or Roy Evans on display at St James' Park this afternoon, but can the class of 2014 serve up some mid-90s action?

'Collymore closing iinnnnnn!'
Newcastle v Liverpool (12:45 GMT)
Newcastle v Liverpool. Liverpool v Newcastle.
Eighteen years ago, when the Spice Girls ruled the airwaves and the Spice Boys ruled Anfield, these two sides served up a bona fide, all-time classic Premier League game.
Stan Collymore's late goal gave the Reds a 4-3 win as Newcastle's implosion from title certainties to runners-up continued. Collymore closed in, Kevin Keegan slumped in his seat, the Kop erupted. Classic moment.
A year later, they did it again! A second 4-3 at Anfield, and it was decided that from that day on every single meeting of the sides would be televised.
They haven't come remotely close to matching those two games for excitement or entertainment since. Is today the day?

Set-piece woe
Newcastle v Liverpool (12:45 GMT)
Liverpool are about as comfortable defending set-pieces at the moment as Sir Alex Ferguson, or indeed anyone, would be sharing a lift with Roy Keane.
It's not the first time the Reds have been dodgy trying to clear their lines from corners, free-kicks and crosses as Newcastle boss Alan Pardew well knows.
In his playing days as a blond-haired defender, Pardew scored the winner in Crystal Palace's 4-3 win over Liverpool in an FA Cup semi-final in 1990 when he nodded in after a corner that had been flicked on.
Palace's other goals came from a right-wing cross and two free-kicks as Liverpool's problems from set pieces from that era began. Now, they seem to be back. Let's see if current Newcastle boss Pardew takes a leaf out of his old Palace side's book when his side welcome the Reds to St James' Park for today's early kick-off.

Gartner Hype Cycle
Newcastle v Liverpool (12:45 GMT)
Let's focus back on Newcastle v Liverpool again. I attended a workshop about the digital world earlier this week (I know that sounds as interesting as a Manuel Pellegrini news conference but before you scroll away please bear with me on this).
During the workshop I was introduced to the Gartner Hype Cycle around new technology and I couldn't help thinking of how it also applies to Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli.
Basically, a new piece of technology comes out, everybody starts raving about like its going to change the world, people then realise its limitations, it dives in credibility before it's proven that it does serve a purpose and regains some lost respectability.
Apart from that last bit, the same could be said of Balotelli after some regarded his £16m move to Anfield as a bit of bargain.
He did score in midweek though so maybe that last bit will come true. He and Liverpool will certainly hope so.
Are strikers tough enough?
Arsenal v Burnley (15:00 GMT)
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes strikers from Europe have gone a bit soft and a lack of street football is to blame.
"When football is more formalised, it's less about developing your individual skill and fighting attitude. We've lost that a bit," says Wenger.
"Maybe it's because in Europe street football has gone. If you go back 30 or 40 years in England, life was tougher.
"We're much more protective and have all become a bit softer.
"In street football when you're 10-years-old, you want to play with 15-year-olds. Then you have to prove you're good, you have to fight and win impossible balls."

Matthew Brewer: Used to play with my brother in my grandma's living room using an orange. The fireplace was one goal and the door frame was the other.
Gareth Griffiths: Chemical waste bins playing lab football. We would make the ball out of latex gloves wrapped inside each other and twisted until it became a decent size. Usually took about 50 gloves and people would pass it around taking it in turns to improve it. Lab football taught us great skills as the danger involved was an incentive to show great glove ball control.
Chris Baker: I can remember my mum sending me to the shops to pick up some bits. On the way back I bumped into a few mates playing footie, I joined in and we started a match, I made the second goal from a six-pint of milk and a four-pack of baked beans... Those were the days.

Hull v Southampton (15:00 GMT)
Southampton striker Graziano Pelle must be asking himself what all the fuss is about when it comes to the Premier League supposedly being one of the toughest leagues in the world.
The 29-year-old Italian was signed from Feyenoord in the summer after scoring 55 goals in 66 matches for the Dutch club under current boss Ronald Koeman.
He has now scored six in nine and will be out to improve on that when Southampton visit Hull later on. Before that though, you can hear his thoughts during an interview on BBC Football Focus, which starts at 12:10 GMT on BBC One.
England Women set for Wembley record
England Women are set to play in front of a larger Wembley crowd in a friendly against Germany on 23 November than watched Roy Hodgson's men tackle Norway at the national stadium.
The men's friendly against Norway on 3 September drew an attendance of just 40,181, the smallest Wembley crowd for a senior England game since the stadium was rebuilt.
The Football Association says ticket sales for the women's game on Friday were hovering just under 41,000 and could reach 50,000. I wonder if Roy will be there.

Happy Hammers
Stoke v West Ham (15:00 GMT)
Let's get back to today's action and on to one of the surprise packages of the season in West Ham.
There has been a team of people unsuccessfully trying to wipe the smile off Hammers boss Sam Allardyce's face. But who can blame Big Sam for being a Happy Hammer.
He would have been ejected out of the West Ham hot-seat if some of the Upton Park fans had had their way.
Now, they're not quite throwing roses into his path, but he's won a lot of them round with the style of football his side are playing and, most importantly, results.
The Hammers have beaten Liverpool this season and go into the Stoke game on the back of a win over champions Manchester City as they sit pretty in the top four.

Man City on brink of crisis
Man City v Man Utd (13:30 GMT, Sunday)
One of the big games this weekend in the Premier League takes place on Sunday with Manchester City taking on Manchester United.
BBC Sport pundit Robbie Savage says in his latest column that there could be doubts over City boss Manuel Pellegrini's future if results don't go his way.
"I am expecting Chelsea to beat QPR on Saturday and, if they do, City will go into Sunday's derby with Manchester United nine points behind Jose Mourinho's side," says Savage.
"After two defeats and a draw in their last three games, the defending Premier League champions will be under massive pressure to find some form, beat their neighbours and stay in touch at the top.
"If they don't get three points against United then, with their hopes of Champions League progress also in the balance, there could be serious questions asked about Pellegrini's future for the first time since he arrived in English football in the summer of 2013."

Newspaper round-up - Rent free Olympic stadium?
In The Sun (subscription required), former Leyton Orient chairman Barry Hearn calls on London Mayor Boris Johnson to reveal the costs behind the Olympic Park Stadium and the terms of West Ham's lease on the venue.
"It's time for Boris to come off the fence and let us know where our money has gone and what the deal is."
Amid rumours the Hammers will pay £2m-a-year in rent Hearns adds: "For a Premier League club that is a minimal rent, especially with the stadium authority paying for the stewarding, police costs, stadium and pitch maintenance if the rumours are to be believed. So effectively West Ham are getting a freebie."

Could Gerrard leave Liverpool?

Former Liverpool, Leeds and England striker
"If Steven said it, we'll take it on board. Speaking from a selfish point of view, I love Steven Gerrard and I'd love him to stay at Liverpool.
"It's like Ryan Giggs at Manchester United - players come into the club and are instantly lifted by seeing Gerrard. He might not be as good as he used to be - like Giggs - but he's still a class act.
"The common consensus is that he will go abroad if he did leave Anfield, but if he did become available I think clubs in the Premier League would want him. He's still that good a player."
Gerrard exit?
Newcastle v Liverpool (12:45 GMT)
Is the unthinkable going to happen for Liverpool fans? Reds skipper Steven Gerrard could be on his way out of Anfield after revealing he could join another club if he is not offered a new contract.
The 34-year-old has been at Liverpool since joining the club's youth academy at the age of nine. He has ruled out the possibility of retirement when his current deal expires in May.
"I won't be retiring this summer. I will play beyond this season," says Gerrard. "We will have to wait and see if that's at Liverpool or somewhere else. That's Liverpool's decision."

Newspaper round-up - Neville laments defending
In the Daily Telegraph, England assistant coach Gary Neville, while quick to point out he is loathe to say "it was better in my day", addresses the subject of modern day defending.

First things first. Let's have a look around today's newspapers and see what's going on.
The Times (subscription required) features an interview with former Spurs and Arsenal defender Sol Campbell, now 40, owner of a £25m property on Cheyne Walk overlooking the Thames, and a mini stately home, Hallington Hall in Northumberland. Campbell is considering a new career in politics and both of his extravagant addresses would be subject to Labour's proposed mansion tax.
On the subject of a politician's salary he says: "I don't know that they should be paid as much as footballers but I do think MPs should be paid a lot more. You would then get a different type of person going for the job. Now, you need some private wealth to do it.
"Ethnic minorities, working class and female numbers are too low."
The back page, above, features Wayne Rooney's expected return for the Manchester derby on Sunday.

Newcastle v Liverpool - 40 years of goals
After that build-up, some of you will probably doubt Newcastle and Liverpool can live up to the hype and, if it doesn't, I apologise now.
What I will say in my defence is that I'd be surprised if it didn't. Why? Well, using an actual real stat, the last time these two were involved in a goalless league game was way back in 1974. Yes, that's 40, let me say that again, 40, years ago.
Welcome
Newcastle v Liverpool (12:45 GMT)
I heard a stat on the wireless that 70% of people pretended they weren't in for Halloween yesterday to avoid trick or treaters. Now, I'm no Judge Judy so whether you did or didn't is down to your own conscience.
But, when it comes to Newcastle v Liverpool, the stat is that the game is 100% guaranteed to deliver entertainment. I've obviously completely and utterly made that last stat up for my own benefit but it's to emphasise that when these two meet it's usually a football treat to savour.
Morning all. The Magpies host the Reds today and kick-off is at 12:45 GMT. I can't wait already.
