Powys village gets its 't' back after eight-year row

The row over the spelling of a Powys village's name has ended after the council reinstated the "t".

Llansanffraid-ym-Mechain was spelled Llansantffraid from the 1800s until Powys council dropped the "t" in 2008, saying it was correcting a mistake.

Montgomeryshire MP Glyn Davies welcomed the decision and said "common sense has finally prevailed".

The council's cabinet executive have now decided the "t" will return to the village's name.

Matt Murray reports.
