Boy, 11, dies after being hit by van at Newtonhill

An 11-year-old boy has died after being hit by a van on the A90 Aberdeen to Dundee road on Friday evening.

Police said Bobby Douglas, from Newtonhill, died from his injuries in Aberdeen Sick Children's hospital.

He was struck by the van near to the Newtonhill flyover on the A90 in Aberdeenshire at 18:20.

Police have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or saw any children crossing the carriageway, to contact them.
