There are some wonderful old photos in this Northants Herald & Post article about the Deco, which has turned 80.

    Land at The Hawthorns, Desborough

I asked the developers if they're likely to appeal the decision, but a statement from Central England Co-operative said: "We are disappointed with the outcome of the planning application. At present, we are waiting for the written decision from the planning committee; therefore at this time it is too early for us to comment in any detail.”

Kent's Joe Denly was caught in the deep off Rob Keogh for 36, having made an unbeaten double hundred in the first innings.

Daniel Bell-Drummond finished 69 not out as both sides take 11 points.

  5. Travel: A5076 in Northampton closed in both directions

    Martin Borley

    BBC Northampton

Residents of Desborough who campaigned against plans for 304 homes in the Ise Valley say they're "relieved" the planning application was refused.

Kevin O'Brien says: "It's a beautiful decision to save a beautiful valley."

As we've been reporting, outline planning permission for the site near the former Hawthorns Leisure Centre was rejected due to the effect the development might have on bio-diversity and the surrounding area.

Residents had staged a demonstration before last night's meeting at Kettering Borough Council's offices.

  9. Should the old girl of Corby get a facelift?

It's an iconic building in Corby, but should Grosvenor House get a facelift?

    Grosvenor House

I snapped this picture from the top floor of the Corby Cube.

Some think the former Strathclyde Hotel is ugly, others that it should be preserved. The Northants Telegraph have some great pictures of the building over the years - click the link to check them out.

  11. Cricket to start at Wantage Road in next half hour
