Much of Tuesday will be dry across the county with some sunny spells, and just the chance of an odd shower during the afternoon. It will feel more pleasant than today with lighter winds. 

A stolen replica of a Postman Pat red post van took months to convert from an £800 micro-car, said owner Ross Taylor.

The van, owned by a Pymoor-based crisp firm, was taken late last month. Postman Pat's black and white cat Jess was on board and is also missing.  

"It's very complicated to start, so I think they must have lifted it onto a truck," Mr Taylor told the BBC.

A study of howling in wolves could could "shed light" on the early evolution of human language, according to researchers at Cambridge University.

The researchers created a database of 6,000 howls recorded from both captive and wild members of the candid family, including these wolves howling in Montana.  

Dr Arik Kershenbaum, who led the study, said: "Wolves may not be close to us taxonomically, but ecologically their behaviour in a social structure is remarkably close to that of humans." 

Everton midfielder Ryan Ledson (pictured) and QPR defender Darnell Furlong have extended their loan deals with Cambridge United for a further month.

Ledson, 18, has featured in 14 games for the U's since joining in November.

Full-back Furlong, 20, has made five appearances for Shaun Derry's side, and also played in 10 games on loan at Northampton Town earlier this season.

Candles and flowers were left outside the Italian embassy in Cairo over the weekend in tribute to Cambridge student Giulio Regeni, who was killed in the city while carrying out research for his PhD.

Police say "no further action" is taking place after reports of a man with a machete near Longsands Academy in St Neots.

The school was put on lockdown for a while this afternoon while a search of the area was conducted.

A spokeswoman for Cambridgeshire Police told us they are "unable to speculate" as to whether it was a case of mistaken identity or a hoax.

Police said they conducted a thorough search but no-one was found. The lockdown has since been lifted.

Italy's foreign minister says he will not settle for "alleged truths" from Egypt over the death of Cambridge University student Giulio Regeni in Cairo.

Egypt's privately-owned Al-Yawm al-Sabi news website, quoting the Egyptian Forensic Medicine Authority, said on Monday that Regeni "died instantly" after being hit with a "sharp tool on the back and front of his head".

But Italy's Interior Minister Angelino Alfano said on Sunday that a second autopsy performed in Italy "confronted us with something inhuman, something animal".

Seven thousand tickets for the Cambridge Science Festival were snapped up this morning in just two hours of them going on sale.

The annual two-week festival, which this year runs from 7 to 20 March, will see more than 300 events staged in the city, with a theme of examining the growing interaction between humans and technology.

About 45,000 people attended the festival last year.

Ross Taylor from Pymoor-based Corkers Crisps says he believes the thieves will find it difficult to sell after the crime was widely publicised on social media.

Police launched an appeal for information last week, as reported in the Ely News.

Wolves and domestic dogs have their own "dialects", according to researchers at the University of Cambridge, who have completed the largest-ever study of howling.

Experts used computer algorithms for the first time to analyse howling, distilling over 2,000 different howls from members of the Canid family.

Dr Arik Kershenbaum said it showed the various species had "distinguishing repertoires of howling", resembling vocal dialects.

"Desilting" is taking place on the Old Bedford River, on the Ouse Washes, to allow the water to flow more freely and prevent flooding.

Darren Trumper, operations team leader for the Environment Agency, said almost half a mile of river had been cleared so far with three to four weeks' more work left to do.
