  3. Overnight weather: Thickening cloud will bring outbreaks of rain

    Dry and cold this evening with a few clear intervals, but thickening cloud will bring outbreaks of rain from the west overnight, accompanied by strengthening winds. 

    Temperatures may briefly dip to 0C (32F) in the countryside, but rising in all areas by the end of the night.

    Tuesday will start cloudy, wet and windy through the morning, becoming drier into the afternoon but still rather cloudy with a few showers. A top temperature of 12C (54F).

  4. Weapons searches in Ipswich discover a number of knives

    Suffolk police believe drug dealers and criminals in Ipswich are hiding knives around housing estates and in public places, so they can be retrieved and used at a later stage.

    Weapons sweeps were carried out in the town earlier in the month as part of Operaton Sceptre, a Metropolitan Police initiative.

    Two knives were found hidden in the Jubilee Park area of Ipswich, 15 knives were recovered from a sharps bin and a further four knives were found during a second sweep.

  6. EU referendum: Suffolk students quiz PM

    Students from local sixth forms and University Campus Suffolk (UCS) have been putting their questions on the European Union referendum to David Cameron.

    The prime minister visited UCS on the Ipswich Waterfront earlier today.

  7. Ipswich Town: Ex-midfielder returns to Australia

    Former Ipswich Town winger Tommy Oar has rejoined his first professional club, Brisbane Roar, on a deal until 2018.

    The 24-year-old made just nine appearances for Town before leaving Portman Road in January, saying he'd struggled to settle in England.

    "Tommy is a quality player with a proven record in top-flight football," said Brisbane's football operations manager Craig Moore.

  8. Students get the chance to question the prime minister directly on EU referendum

    Students and sixth formers in Suffolk have been putting their questions on the EU directly to David Cameron, who's been at University Campus Suffolk on the Ipswich Waterfront.

    "I think after that document comes out then my answer would be more certain on what way I'd be going."

  10. John Wark a 'legend in everyone's eyes'

    A Twitter user who pitted 64 Ipswich players against one another to determine Town's greatest ever player says John Wark was a worthy winner.

    "Kevin Beattie can think himself unlucky not to progress beyond the last eight. I think the results showed the younger demographic of Twitter users - Daryl Murphy clearly had a strong vote that saw him reach the final eight."

    Chloe Williams had leveled the scoreline for Ipswich before the home side scored three goals late on.

  14. Charges begin for green waste collections in Waveney district

    Controversial charges for green waste collection come into force today in the north of the county.

    Householders in Waveney will now have to pay £42 a year to have their garden waste collected. 

    The charge has been introduced after Suffolk County Council stopped funding districts to help make the collections.

  17. Ipswich Town: Bialkowski set to scoop player award

    Goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski is the red hot favourite to be named as Ipswich Town's Player of the Month for February.

    The 28-year-old's been in exceptional form since replacing the injured Dean Gerken and has arguably been Town's man-of-the-match in their last four games.

    "I'm fortunate I've got two great goalkeepers," said manager Mick McCarthy. "Both have been excellent when they've been in and both have lost their places through unfortunate circumstances, but they continue to perform when they get in."
