  6. A view on why Norwich are in the long grass

    Tom Williams

    BBC Look East sport

Is it a surprise to see Norwich struggling at the wrong end of the table? Probably not, but optimism was high back in August, especially with a bright, young manager.

    Alex Neil

What's disappointing is that Norwich's fight for survival has rather petered out. The main problem - they can't score.

The manager's desperate to take it to the last game, but given Norwich's recent form and Sunderland's recent revival, it's hard to see the relegation scrap going beyond tonight.

  7. Two jailed for supermarket burglary

    Andrew Turner

    BBC Radio Norfolk

Two men have been jailed for burglary at a Norfolk supermarket where they stole cigarettes, DVDs and packets of Monster Munch crisps.

    Scales of justice

Joe Walpole, 23  and Joseph Giddins, 25, both from Arbor View Court, Northampton, pleaded guilty to breaking into the Harleston Co-op in February.

Norwich Crown Court heard Giddins drove dangerously, the wrong way round roundabouts while Walpole threw debris out of the window, causing a danger and damage to a police car following them.

Giddins, was sentenced to 18 months in prison and banned from driving for 28 months, while Walpole was jailed for two years.

  8. Norfolk's new PCC to miss first day at work

    Nic Rigby

    BBC News

The new Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Norfolk, Conservative Lorne Green, is to miss his first day on the job to allow the previous incumbent to settle his affairs.

    Lorne Green

Mr Green beat Labour's Dr Chris Jones by almost 10,000 votes in the election last week.

Mr Green, a Canadian-born former diplomat who has lived in Snettisham for three decades, said: "I decided to allow the incumbent an extra day, Thursday, to settle his affairs with the office and I will be in on Friday."

  11. Sheet music library needs to be 'cost neutral' says council

Music groups across Norfolk say they're worried about the future of a library service that lends sheet music.

    The Forum, Norwich

The service costs Norfolk county council £10,000 to run and councillors say it needs to be "cost neutral to make it sustainable".

Music groups say the lending service is vital and have committed to raising funds to help cover costs for this year.

Quote Message: At the moment we're raising relatively small amounts just to show good faith to Norfolk County Council that we are behind this scheme. We are going to have find ways of getting substantial money... by September." from Jill Halliday Wymondham Symphony Orchestra

  12. Girl, 7, found to have drowned in Waveney River Centre pool

A seven-year-old girl pulled unconscious from a leisure centre swimming pool died from drowning, a post-mortem examination has found.

    Sign

The girl, who has not been named but is thought to be from Lowestoft, was at a pool party at the Waveney River Centre in Burgh St Peter on 1 May.

She was taken to hospital but later died. Her death is not being treated as suspicious.

Norfolk coroner's office said a date for an inquest was yet to be decided.

  13. Sunderland points not a done deal says Neil

    Jay Lawrence

    BBC Radio Norfolk

Norwich City manager Alex Neil says it's not a foregone conclusion that Sunderland will get three points tonight.

City's hopes of Premier League survival rely on Everton beating the side from the North East, while also making sure the Canaries manage three points against Watford tonight.

Neil says Sunderland have their work cut out against Everton:

Quote Message: They're capable of beating anyone and I think their form has been better on the road than it has at home. They've got players that can change a game in the blink of an eye basically so we hope they can go and put on a good show." from Alex Neil Manager, Norwich City

  14. New lane may be built at A47 Postwick hub to help ease congestion

An extra lane may be constructed to ease congestion at the controversial Postwick hub to the east of Norwich.

    Postwick hub

Over the next two weeks Norfolk County Council is testing a plan to add a dedicated left lane for traffic.

It would allow people coming from the Great Yarmouth direction to Thorpe St Andrew to avoid navigating the roundabout and queuing over the old bridge.

Quote Message: There is space within the highway there. I'm not sure exactly what'll be required in terms of hard engineering, but given that we've spent well over £20m at this junction the cost will be relatively modest." from John Birchall Norfolk County Council
