Conservative Stephen Mold says he is "humble and proud" after being elected Northamptonshire's police and crime commissioner (PCC).

Mr Mold polled 58,175 votes in the final round of counting ahead of Kevin McKeever (49,161, Labour), after UKIP's Sam Watts (27,708) was ruled out following the first round of voting.

Mr Mold replaces fellow Conservative PCC Adam Simmonds on Thursday.

He said: "I may not always be right but it won't be for the want of trying."
